Fallen Angel (A Raines & Shaw Thriller Book 1)

Really enjoyed this thriller by John Ling. Surprisingly consuming story that pulls the reader in and makes you late for work. Ok that part was my own fault but I had issues putting this book down. I want a follow up story once I'm out of trouble at work.

Fallen Angel is a fast paced action thriller about a terrorist attack in Auckland, New Zealand. John Ling's knowledge of secret agents and the tools of their trade is extensive and well researched. Kendra Shaw is a former counter terrorism agent who unwittingly gets drawn into a situation that she is all too familiar with. She ends up proving to herself that she still has what it takes to deliver the goods although she has not fully recovered from a nervous breakdown.

What a great read! It was fast paced, interesting enough to keep me enthralled for 3 hours until I had finished the novel. John's character were strong , especially the heroine of the story. Not only was the story engaging but it was educational as well. I especially enjoyed the setting in which the story takes place...Auckland New Zealand. I brought back so many wonderful memories of an exciting holiday in that beautiful country! I am looking forward to reading the sequel John!

John Ling's Fallen Angel grabs the reader's attention from the very start and never slows down. The main character has brief flashbacks of a black ops career that officially ended, and of a relationship that she had also ended. The plot is fresh and relevant to today's news.

I gave this four stars because even though I enjoyed the read very much, the plot was interesting and there was lots of action, I would have liked more character development. It was fun to read and kept my attention right to the end. Perhaps as the author continues the series we will learn more about the main characters. All in all, if you like action and suspense, well worth the read!

John Ling has crafted a really exciting read in Fallen Angel. The technology, tradecraft and cultural issues are well researched. The characters are believable, and the plot is fast paced. I would like to see a longer novel in the future, with a few more plot twists.
All in all , I highly recommend John Ling, and am now a fan.
Sleepy New Zealand will never be the same!

I quite encoded this book, but found that the main character was a little too 'pat' and didn't seem to be able to put a foot wrong.
The story itself was very good and certainly up with the times concentrating on an IS type plot.
This is the first book of John Ling's that I have read to will be interested to read his next one.

Received the book as a freebie, loved it! Enjoyed the fact that it's set in NZ and it grabs you from the first! Enjoyed it so much I have bought another book by Josh Ling! Keep writing like this and I will keep buying! Thanks

I just finished reading Fallen Angel. I loved the story line, and the characters, too. I just missed more "fleshing out", of both the story and the characters. But, keep up the good work, John. You'll get there!

Whilst the plot was fairly predictable the story itself was good, even though half way through one could anticipated the ending. The theme was not new but did have a few different twists. A little bit short on a plot and story, but generally good read.

Another good book by John Ling, quick moving story set in Auckland NZ.Especially interesting to me as spent some time there and recognised some of the places mentioned! More importantly,it was a good story that held my attention til the end. Well done!!!
