I really enjoyed this book. It hooks you pretty fast. There were a few twists I didn't see coming which is always great. The author did a good job on making you feel the characters, there was a lot of depth to them. I will definitely be reading more of her work. So glad I was able to receive an advanced copy.

I received an ARC for an honest review. The writing style did remind me of Gillian Flynn, and I read the book in one sitting. There were quite a few surprises, especially as the relationship between the wife and the girlfriend develops further until the complexity of both women, who know each other from a cancer support group, is revealed. I could easily envision this story being picked up as a film.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. This book, much like "Girl On the Train" and "Gone Girl" is filled with unlikeable people who are doing terrible things to each other. I think I could give it five stars if I could just have found one of the characters to be redeemable. It was a thrilling read, though, and it was hard to put down as the inevitable drew closer. There were some very interesting plot twists, but parts of the resolution were not clearly tied up for me.
A gripping psychological thriller with an absolutely brilliant twist :: Tom Clancy's Op-Center: Out of the Ashes :: Tom Clancy SSN :: Tom Clancy's Net Force: Gameprey (Net Force YA) :: Fallen Angel (A Raines & Shaw Thriller Book 1)

Read from the first page to the last, coffee growing cold -the pages turning themselves. This is a domestic psychological thriller that leaves you guessing, questioning.... Who is the victim? You’ll change your mind several times before you read the final page.

Fast read. Flawed characters that you still root for throughout the book. I have limited medical knowledge so I can't speak to that but I have known several folks with mental illness and she details the traits quite well. Looking forward to reading this author in the future.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. It was a well written psychological thriller full of suspense. There were several twists I did not see coming. It left me conflicted about the struggles of the two main characters. I felt their frustrations and still had sympathy for them.

Great debute novel!!! Loved that it was told from Melissa and Aubrey's point of view. Just when I thought I had it figured out, another twist was thrown in. Read it in one sitting. Can't wait for her second novel to come out.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book and absolutely loved it. Just when I thought I had it figured out, the plot would twist in an intriguing way. The author’s writing style is smooth and easy to follow with a well-developed plot and interesting characters. I was still thinking about the book a couple of days after I finished it.

The story starts with Aubrey plotting to kill someone and you don't know why at first. You follow 2 people, Aubrey and Melissa. Aubrey wants what Melissa has to include her husband. But are things the way they seem?
It is a psychological twist to it. Didn't care for the ending but the rest had my attention.

Wow! This book was so surprisingly good. Rachel Hargrove is definitely an author to watch. Like others have said, there are plenty of twists and turns with a complex plot (almost as complex as a Shakespeare play) and a truly surprising ending.
This book could have been a good bit longer. Maybe that’s the publisher’s fault. I felt like it needed more character development. Aubrey and Melissa needed more back story. A little more about Tom would have been nice too. The children were almost nonexistent except for one incident. Even though we really get inside Melissa’s and Aubrey’s heads, I had a difficult time getting to know them and empathize with them.
Still, this was an excellent, unputdownable read. I highly recommend it for fans of psychological drama/thrillers.

WOW WOW WOW! I was blown away. My mouth literally dropped open several times. I read it so fast because I just had to know what happened next. There was not one part of this book that wasn't fascinating. I am already too impatient for her next book to come out!

I read three-quarters of this book and then realized Ms. Hargrove didn't know what she was talking about because she doesn't know the basics of medicine. The main characters discuss MRI results and Melissa tells Aubry a radiologist told her husband about her test results. Aubry argues that's not possible because "techs" aren't allowed to interpret imaging. Writers are often encouraged to write about what they know and if it's a topic they don't know well, they need to make sure they research it. It is clear here the author doesn't know a radiologist is a highly skilled doctor, not a tech. The book was entertaining enough and a quick read, but this avoidable mistake made me want to rip my hair out. I hope Ms. Hargrove is much more diligent in her research in her next novel.

Two women. Both sick with cancer. One woman, Melissa, is married with children and the other, Aubrey, wants what Melissa has, literally. Each chapter is told from Aubrey and Melissa's point of view. Aubrey's mission is to have Tom, Melissa's husband, all to herself, but she can't do that until Melissa is out of the picture. So what's a dying mistress to do? Kill the wife, of course.
I'm sure this kind of story has been told a few times. The mistress needs the wife out of the picture so she can be happy. Normally, I'm not overly fond of those stories because it usually ends badly. I will say, that wasn't the case with this story. Aubrey is very sick (because she purposely ingested a parasite to lose weight) but the only thing keeping her from wallowing in her self pity is Tom, her married lover. Melissa, whom is also sick with pancreatic cancer, struggles with her illness after having to give up her career and staying home with her two kids.
They both meet in a yoga class, and not by accident.
I won't give too much away. I liked how each chapter was told from one woman's point of view. You get an insight of Aubrey with her life and how she describes her happiness with Tom, verses Melissa's life and how things really are with Tom. Aubrey goes through a lot of obstacles and has a sort of twisted revelation when something happens at a birthday party.
I really enjoyed this story. The writing was smooth and easy to follow. Even if you don't like Aubrey in the beginning, your opinion of her slowly changes throughout the duration of the story. Melissa is actually worse off than Aubrey realizes. You may guess what's going to happen in the middle like I did, but that doesn't mean it wasn't an enjoyable read. There were a couple of characters mentioned that I believe didn't quite fit, but they were only there briefly as if they just disappeared as soon as they reappeared. I'm sure that was the idea.
The title is simple but says it all, but you'll start to wonder who is really the sick girl. You'll have to read and find out. For anybody who enjoys a good psychological thriller, and if you enjoyed the book Behind Her Eyes, I believe you will enjoy this book as well.

Aubrey is sick. She says she picked up a parasite while swimming. She also says she has cancer. Only Tom makes her life worth living. The only thing standing in the way of their happiness is Melissa, Tom's wife.
Aubrey has a plan. All she has to do is kill Melissa, and she already has the means to do so. She is stalking Melissa, just waiting for the right moment because she can never give up Tom.
