In Skates Trouble (The Chicago Rebels Series)

I am so tired of reading supposed romance novels with a heroine so caught up in being a feminist that she creates unnecessary angst for no reason. Addy would have been an okay heroine if not for this irritating trait.

Ford decides he wants to fight for a chance with Addy so he takes it upon himself to try to remove the obstacle in their way. The obstacle SHE identified. He's proactive. Addy has a hissy fit. I was so done with her at that point. Truly. I would love for the man I love and want to be proactive in making sure our relationship had a chance by removing obstacles. So it annoys me to no end when authors use something like that as a tipping point in the story. I also hate that the hero is left to feel like he did something wrong and has to apologize for it. I feel like these types of stories are essentially emasculating and this was just one too many. Writing a strong woman does not have to be done at the expense of the man. It doesn't have to be one or the other.

I won't be reading any more to this series and I'll be treading lightly with regards to this author as well.

The story started off so flirty and hot! I loved Addy and Ford. That first meeting and their connection and chemistry was off the charts! I love how they meet, how Ford moved them forward and how their relationship is explosive right from the start. Addy was a fantastic character. I love that Kate Meader always writes such a strong heroine. Addy was bold, confident, and secure in who she was. Ford was so sweet, and I loved the fact that he didn't play games. There are a few complications in their relationship, some ups and downs, and I enjoyed every second of them getting to their happily ever after.

Besides the fun and sexy, there's a bit of emotion thanks to some drama Addy and Ford encounter and also because of Ford’s backstory. I love how everything played out, some really touching moments came out of it.

This might be a novella but it was very much a full story. The writing is great with excellent details that pulled me in. I love all the characters that were introduced and the hints of foreshadowing of what might come in the first full book in the series, Irresistible You. The way things were laid out got me excited where everything could go. I am thrilled for this new series to release.

In short, this was awesome. I loved the witty and engaging characters, I felt they had depth and a good back story. I loved Addy and Ford’s relationship, how everything was laid out, and thought it had a good pace. Solid beginning, middle an end.

Can’t wait for more. Bring on the Chicago Rebels!

Oh wow. What a pleasant surprise this beauty turned out to be. When I randomly selected a book off of my kindle I had no idea I’d be blessed with a beauty like this AND the fact that it’s a sports romance is just an added bonus, I love me some sports romance.

Not only is this a sports romance but a forbidden romance too. One woman recently separated from her husband. One man currently working for said ex husband. When the man stumbles across the conversation between women on a hotel balcony he can’t help but feel instant attraction to one of the unforgettable voices, after a night of only talking and never seeing each other this man is in desperate need of finally meeting the woman that can get him hard by just her voice, and the rest, well you gotta read this beauty to find out because boy, you’re going to want to.

This storyline had me captivated, I couldn’t put it down until I had finished it all. I had to know what was going to happen and how it was going to end. The main reason I’m sat up at 4:06am writing this review. I just simply couldn’t put it down.

This is my first read by this author and definitely won’t be my last. I can’t wait to read more from this series.

This prequel to the Chicago Rebels Series was originally published in A Hockey Romance Anthology. Though it is not needed to read this before reading book one, it’s a good peek of what this series has to offer.

In this installment, Addison and Ford met only by chance. Having an adjoining balcony gave them an edge to this sexy adventure but they didn’t expect for their fling to go further. They actually belong to the same circle of sorts. Unfortunately, Addison is out of Ford’s league in so many ways than one, but Ford won’t let any of that get in the way. Even if it means risking his own career.

I enjoyed Ford and Addison’s story. Similar to the heroines of Irresistible You (book 1) and So Over You, Addison is confident in her own skin, strong-minded, and very independent. I honestly love the heroines from this series. That goes to say about the hero’s in this series. Including Ford, they are all sexy, very alpha, and super romantic. Meader makes it so easy to fall for each of them.

This short story also shows parts of the beginning of what’s to become of the team and it’s a good peek at the series. If you want to check this series out, this would be a good place to start.

Addison and Ford couldn't have more chemistry if they tried. Addy has been rebuilding her life after her divorce. Her Ex treated her like nothing more than a trophy on his high powered arm. Now she wants to take her career as a lingerie model and truly turn it into a business that showcases her brains as well as her beauty. When a voice in night fulfills her needs in a ways she has never had before she is thrown for a loop. Ford should be flying high - he's young, successful, rich, and his team just won the Cup. He just can't shake the feeling of ennui that plagues him. Then something happens that makes him feel more alive than he has felt in ages, a sultry encounter with a mystery woman. Consumed with finding her, he is amazed to learn that she is none other than the ex-wife of his his team’s owner, a man not known for his even temper or ability to share. This doesn't sway Ford in his endeavor to pursue to deletable Addy Williams. She's not the type of woman you just walk away from, not if you can help it. Even if it means torpedoing his career, he wants Addy to be his girl.

This is actually 4 1/2 stars. Ford Callaghan has won the holy grail of hockey and has no one to share the joy with. When he was 16, he lost his oldest brother in a tragic car accident that also permanently injured his middle brother, Jax. Even thou Ford had just gotten his learners permit, he was driving them home because they had too much to drink while celebrating his brother's getting into the NHL. To this day, Jax has held a grudge, since that accident ruined his chance at playing hockey again. Sitting outside the balcony of his hotel, room he overhears a group of women talking from the balcony next to his, discussing how most men don't know how to give good oral sex. One woman in particular attracts his senses with her sultry voice. As they women bid each other goodbye, Ford decides to go back inside his room, when the sultry voices calls him an eavesdropper. Across the wall of the balcony things start heating up as sex becomes their topic of conversation. Next morning Ford has to find out who this sexy woman is, however, he finds out she has already checked out of her room. How can he find who she is when all he heard was her first name.
Addison, a lingerie model, is in town to promote her new line of sexy wear for full figure women. She can't believe what happened last night with the stranger in the room next door, as they sexed each other verbally. His voice just moved her in a way she hadn't felt in a long time.
Ford is determined to find her and when he does, sparks fly between the two of them. Addison doesn't want to get involved with anyone, let alone Ford, since not only is she 6 years older than him, but her ex-husband is the owner of team Ford plays in. The heat between these two is amazing. This book is a must read.

In the dark of night, he and his balcony partner find a little mutual self-satisfaction, a harmless flirtation as they don’t set eyes or hands on each other. But Ford does a little detective work and figures out how to meet the woman who so intrigued him, and it turns out that she’s Addison Williams, a famous model and the ex-wife of the owner of the hockey team he plays for, the Cajun Rage. Meeting each other in person sparks the fires already lit from their steamy nighttime encounter. But it could spell disaster for Ford’s career if he’s caught fooling around with his owner’s ex.

This story starts out steamy and doesn’t let up! Ford and Addy are both very likable characters and have crystal clear chemistry. She’s a plus-sized model and he’s a star right winger, so they have careers and lives of their own, and a fling while he’s in Chicago where Addy has relocated, is something they can’t resist. Ford’s there to show the Stanley Cup to his brother and his junior hockey club where he first played. Some of the story revolves around the complicated relationship he has with his family, the earlier death of his brother never forgotten. The story has some emotional moments in the mix of a sexy romance, and there are some ups and downs for this couple as they find their way to a very satisfying happy ending. I’m looking forward to reading more of the Chicago Rebels series!

In Skates Trouble was exactly what I was expecting from Kate Meader. I loved every second of this sexy novella. In Skates Trouble is well worth the price of admission and it has more than made me excited for her new Chicago Rebels series.

Ford and Addy are two really fun, really great characters. They both have issues from their past that has made them a bit gun shy about living life to the fullest. I loved that Addy was older than Ford. I thought that added a really great dimension to the story. I also never really felt like this novella was lacking anything. The character development was perfect, the way their relationship developed was also spot on and we got to know the secondary characters as well, which set up things perfectly for the first book in the series.

This is the type of story I’ve come to expect from Kate Meader, sexy, sassy and full of everything you want a story to be. These are also the types of characters that I’ve come to expect. A man who knows what he wants and goes after it, a woman who doesn’t take crap from anyone; characters that are easy to fall in love with. And I have to say I loved the shot out to Alex and Eli from Playing With Fire (Hot in Chicago series). I absolutely cannot wait to read more in this new Chicago Rebel series…in fact, I already adore Harper, so it shouldn’t be too hard to really enjoy the next book.

Yowza - this is one smoking hot read! You have to love a story that starts out with a smexy, explicit sex scene that involves our hero and heroine still wearing clothes and a few feet apart from one another! As I said, Yowza!

Ford “Killer” Callaghan may be the star right-winger for the Cajun Rage, but he is still just a Chicago boy at heart with a lot of ghosts haunting his world. When he “meets” Addison Williams, world-famous lingerie model, it’s clear he’s smitten. Addison herself is struggling with ghosts, namely a disastrous marriage and finally divorce from a controlling man who only viewed her as a trophy. That man may be her ex, but he is very much Ford’s current boss, the owner of the Cajun Rage! Somehow - despite all the obstacles and a bit of an age difference - these two just fit together. It was a well-written, witty, fun, in-your-face steamy read! And a great set up to this author’s new series on the Chicago Rebels hockey team. I cannot wait for Harper Chase’s story to unfold!

I really enjoyed this hot start to the Chicago Rebels series. Ford & Addison were truly hot, steaming up the pages with their chemistry. A chance eavesdropping experience brings them together. Getting caught eavesdropping isn't what Ford hoped for when he listened in on a group of women talking about their wants on the balcony next to his hotel room. But what occurs after everyone has left starts the wheels in motion for this romance. After a failed marriage Addison wants nothing more than to get her business up & running in Chicago, but meeting Ford also gets her motor running & the inevitable happens. Their chemistry overloads the sensibilities & has them moving forward towards whatever might happen faster than normal. Reality steps in & gives them a few hurdles they need to get over. Looking forward to reading more in this series.

As prequel's go Kate Meader' In Skates Trouble makes an enticing introduction to her Chicago Rebels series. A fiercely independent sexy older woman pursued by a slightly younger hockey star, with a penchant for curves in the rink and in his arms, will make readers smile and have them reaching to auto buy each and every book to follow in this new series! This author finds a way to make her fabulously unique and emotional baggage bearing characters join together for her own take on couple perfection in this work. Wit and vulnerability amp the pace of Ford's determined pursuit of Addison as they go from secret hookups to open commitment. Ms. Meader's ease at getting into the workings of her characters and dressing them up with her sassy writing point the way to Chicago Rebels greatness!

This is a fantastic novella that kicks off what I expect to be a fantastic new series. In this story Ford Callaghan just finished a season with the Cajun Rage where they miraculously won the cup.

With his day with The Cup Ford Callaghan returns to Chicago to share the win with his family. Never did he expect to meet the woman of his dreams. One little problem. She's the ex of the Rage's team owner. Career ending??

Can't wait for the rest of this series! I highly recommend this one.

What I liked most about this book was the strong, large figured, confident, heroine. It is heavy on erotic romance, but also has a story.

I imagine book 2 will have much of the same, but with a slightly smaller, more mischievous h :)

As always, Kate Meader delivers a book that has all the makings of a fantastic read: passion between characters, hilarious dialogue, and characters you want to learn more about. If you haven't picked up this book yet, what are you waiting for?
