This book caught my attention when I read the title & ordered it immediately. My brother's best friend in school was 6'8" and he had 2 cousins just as tall or taller. It was a bit of a handicap for them in those days (1960's) because the rest of world was so much shorter and it was challenging for them to live with the American standard. I wonder now if those 3 tall handsome guys share the DNA of the giants in this book. Thank you Richard Dewhurst for digging up the truth about the "giant" cover-up and presenting your skillfully researched evidence with integrity, pent up anger & a lot of nerve. The truth has a way of coming out - eventually - even if it takes a few hundred years. I hope the Smithsonian hierarchy are blushing with shame.

If you are interested in the forgotten history of man, you will enjoy The Ancient Giants Who Ruled America immensely. Richard J. Dewhurst writes in an easy to understand straight forward manner about a truly fascinating subject. An excellent book!

Interesting and at the same time disturbing how this is completely missing from our education, daily conversation and just general knowledge. We talk about the Greek and Roman empires, the Egyptians and Chinese, the Sumerians, and the Druids, Celts and Vikings, but somehow, never even mention what is all around this country. Stunning!

I'd read other articles in archeology mags and online, listened to stories on the radio, but the mound builders were never linked with the giants. I found the book informative and interesting.
Provides an insight into the history of this continent that is largely ignored by mainstream archeology.

A fascinating read revealing amazing information about our past that has been suppressed by our higher institutions of academia. Hundreds of skeletal remains in America and throughout the World attest to this self evident fact. Anyone looking to expand their knowledge and have fun doing it, should read this book.

This collection of references presents a preponderance of data that should be enough to convince an argument for the existence of a culture that history has chosen to not respect. It one offered statement the text quotes an official response as "the state does not recognize its legitimacy" in reference to physical evidence contrary to their official position.

Quite an interesting book with all the evidence for North American giants in one place. (What about South America?) This along with: SCATTERED SKELETONS IN OUR CLOSET KAREN MUTTON 2011 lists evidence that challenges the mainstream archaeological paradigms (as do many serious books of archaeological heresy, some going back more than 50 years).

One hopeful sign that the old guard paradigms are coming down is the History 2 channel’s program “America Unearthed” with forensic geologist Dr. Scott Wolter. He has proven that many so called “hoaxes” (Kensington Rune Stone, Anubis Cave, Tucson Artifacts, Newport Tower, Las Lunas stones, etc.) are authentically ancient and show pre-columbian contact between the Americas, Africa/Eurasia, Pacific Ocean cultures, etc. dating back many millennia and down to historical times.

NOTE TO SMITHSONIAN SCIENTISTS & POLICYMAKERS:

Just because John Wesley Powell set the paradigm for “no old world contact before Columbus – except the Vikings” in the latter 19th century doesn’t mean you have to still adhere to it; it’s outdated, obsolete, scientifically unsound, and extremely elistist. The world and science have changed drastically since then, and too many people realize that you are lying about what you have in storage. So open up your hidden collections and let qualified scholars investigate and analyze the artifacts and remains, and publish their findings without threat of loss of reputation and funding.

While this is an excellent subject, it's a fairly boring read, in that is is too repetitive. The evidence contained herein is irrefutable. There were giants here, and they numbered well into the thousands. But after reading a handful of pages, the accounts all read pretty much the same. While that is not necessarily the fault of the author, as he is reprinting newspaper articles, perhaps something could have been added to make this a more interesting read.

As the author writes, this is a compilation of articles written over the course of two centuries, along with his own brief observations and narrative.

While other people may be awed by what he shares, these are some of the same articles available on websites and in older publications available to download free on the internet. It was not what I had hoped.

That said, I agree that there has been a solid wall of silence and misinformation carefully and purposefully constructed by the Smithsonian and others to obscure the real history of this continent, for, why is it, when we live in a place where there are the most abundant natural resources on this planet, that other continents are rich in historical accounts while North America is continually said to only have been inhabited in the last 1,000 years or so and information is scant until Columbus shows up?

I know the information recorded within these pages are factual - There is too much proof to suggest otherwise. Thank you Richard for your undying research and determination to unmask the truth! Why people choose to "HIDE" history is beyond me. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

The author has done an amazing amount of research to catalog all these stories about giants, but never gets around to offering any theories about who they might have been. Given the sheer number of references he's found, there certainly seems to be something to investigate, but he's apparently not interested in speculating on the origins of these really big people.

Thousands of documented discoveries, photos, newspaper articles that have giant skeletons and advanced technology in our past here in America only to be collected and denied by institutions of higher learning, including the Smithsonian. There has been a successful re-writing of history that spans beyond what one generation could plan in their lifetime. Someday we will know the truth about de-evolution!

As an anthropologist, I find if refreshing to hear some truth about human history. Much of what many of us in the profession know to be true has and is being hidden from the classrooms in our universities and colleges.

The research done to create this book is simple staggering in its scope and magnitude, the author goes above and beyond anything ever created on the subject and makes the case for Smithsonian censorship absolute.

REAL Science. Suppressed anthropology. This books is a great compendium of information on this REAL scientific mystery.

My own footnotes: You can thank the Smithsonian for covering up the existence of these hominids. Motivation?? Maintaining the status quo of the Darwinian religion. God forbid that scientists might have to throw our Darwin?

Just as bad ... what would Religionists do if forced to throw out their literal interpretations of the Adam and Eve mythos?

What is the 160 year-old motivation for an black-ops cover-up of human anthropology? Maintaing the illusion of control and knowledge in an age of false science and false religion. They truth is OUT THERE, and in here, but you're not going to find it until you throw out every false notion from Darwinism and Evangelical nonsense, to New Age "ancient aliens" rubbish. The truth was understood by very few. Try reading the seminal work "Sacred Science..." from R.A. Schwaller de Lubicz. The human race as we know it is not EVOLVING but DEVOLVING. Univ of Utah studies have shown this as a fact. Our brains are shrinking...fast. Did these early hominids know something we did not? Who was more advanced?

While you're at it, try reading up on the 'little people' once considered merely a myth as well. Then, the Homo floresiensis are suddenly discovered. So much for the skeptical.

A must read for anyone who really wants access to the facts.

It is nothing more than the reprinted newspaper articles of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It gives no further research; no more in depth analysis; nothing. Just reprinted articles, which are some what interesting reading. Maybe I expected too much, but I did expect more than this.

Very interesting with plenty of "source" documentation. I was aware of these giants although I have heard of the "mound builders" for years. I think everyone would like this book, well, maybe not the Smithsonian!

Very interesting read. A better written book than some others on the topic. But no Bibliography. Still all in all a good reference book for the collection of books on this topic. There were sections I did not agree with but admit something odd is going on with all the giant skeletons found in the USA. I don't buy the sacred Indian burial grounds explanation. There is still a lot of research to be done. I would like to see some DNA reports on some of these bones.

A well-documented account of the cover-up of historical facts and finds about pre-historical giants found in North America. Pretty well entertaining to me until the last chapter or two. The book questions why Native American Natives and our government want to cover-up the existence of giants in our past.

Considering that most of the archeological sights were found in 18th and 19th centuries, I am impressed with amount information the author was able gather. The pride of those in control of information seems to keep hungry minds in the dark. The idea that European, Mid Eastern people were here thousands of years before Columbus, just goes against the traditional story line. The Native American Graves Protection and Reparations Act will only stifle research of the ancients who lived here before the Native Americans.

A very interesting read!

The writer gives the reader tons of evidence to help prove his thesis. I found this book very compelling. Step out of your comfort zone and let your mind drink in the material presented. See the world then in a slightly different vein.

Great book. Alas, someone to tell the truth about the giants that lived
not only across the world, but also in America. I highly recommend this
book. There were so many places in America where remains have been found,
and not all covered up by the Smithsonian. I recommend this book.

I do wonder why archaeological discoveries like this have never been widely spoken of. If giant skeletons had been discovered in the Middle East, it would have been spoke of ad nauseum. Are there religious reason for not wanting it known they were in north America possibly earlier than when they were known to exist over there? It is awe-inspiring to know that people, some of Caucasian descent, and up to 12 feet tall actually existed in America in prehistoric times. The book is a wonderful read and I do recommend it. The downside is that I saw many things repeated, sometimes several times, as if the author did not trust the reader to understand it the first time. But, that is not enough to keep me from recommending it as worth the price and time to read.

OK, the premise of this book is that the scientific community has buried (no pun intended) information relating to the ancient peoples of North America. To that end, he quoted many, many news sources of old that detail excavations of old mounds and their contents. Most of the book is this kind of material. Ad nauseam.

The problem is that he lacks any credibility when it comes to a conspiracy to deliberately hide this information from the people. It is true that scientists have dismissed finds when they contradicted current beliefs, but that is relatively old news. No credible scientist today argues that humans first cam across the Bering sea land bridge. DNA evidence has clearly proven that humans came from Europe and settled here.

The one example he highlights is the case of a collection of materials supposedly hidden by the Smithsonian. The articles he cites, however, read that this material had been missing for a long time and that may scientist were thrilled that it had been rediscovered.

True, most people do not know "giants" walked the earth thousands of years ago in North America. Read this book and you will lear that they apparently did.

As for the conspiracy, he really fails to make a convincing case.

Running the site "Ghost Hunting Theories," I have spent a great deal of my focus on the unexplained in the realm of the ancient giants. I've read so many books and articles on the subject and written so many postings about it, that I felt like I knew a good deal; until I read this book. "The Ancient Giants Who Ruled America: The Missing Skeletons and the Great Smithsonian Cover-Up" by Richard J. Dewhurst is my most prized book in my entire library (and I like to collect reference books). It has photos, tons of articles and documents, information about every aspect of the ancient giants you can't find anywhere else. Some people tell you their heights, some tell you the tools they had, or that a certain amount of them were found in a certain city, but this book goes into great specificity. It also ponders the obvious cover-up of this precious anthropological information and the potential ancient history of this race of people. It was brilliantly laid out, a super incredible read. In fact, I literally stayed up the night and read it. I could not put it down! I think I highlighted nearly every page with a highlighter marker and dog-earred a lot of pages. I love this book and that says a lot from a woman who is very critical about the books she considers worthy of her precious time. I highly recommend this as THE book on your shelf in regards to ancient giants.

BOOK GOES INTO DETAIL ABOUT THE EXCAVATIONS WHICH REVEALED THESE HUGE SCELETONS BUT DOES NOT TELL US WHERE WE CAN VISIT MUSEUMS WHERE THEY CAN BE SEEN. GOOD READING BUT A LITTLE SHORT ON POINTING OUT THE VERIFICATION OF THE CLAIMS

I remember some of these items being discussed when I was a child (yes families actually spoke and shared ideas). Then the archaeological finds just disappeared from the news.into the basement of the colleges . museums and under cement ( Keniwick Man)

I just finished Richard Dewhursts' book tonight . It's 350 plus pages and well worth buying ! Starts out with a normal intro to the whole subject of the Red Haired Giants reported widely in the US historic Newspapers. That goes into a long 100 page section featuring those accounts. The sheer weight of these news stories is compelling as are the details themselves, alas the devil is in the details and you must dig in and read hundreds of them to be sure you haven't missed that tiny detail you need !

His explanation of the Smithsonians' massive effort to quell the reports and their reasons for doing so runs to several pages and is helpful but he seems to have missed the documented accounts of them buying up skeletons like the San Diego Giant. There is a separate book lurking here !

He returns to this theme as he goes through the Spirit Cave and Lovelock finds and into the Florida Bog People as well. I learned a great deal more of the Bog People than I would have expected and several odd remarks about moon eyed pygmies may have me shuffling through more annoying websites than usual :)

The sections on inscribed stones, copper mining and weird religious practicers from the Old World are a bit odd but not time consuming. Most people interested in those subjects probably have better book on the specific subject.

He saves the best for last and the story of the Catalina Island finds is truely amazing in complexity and conspiracy .

His index and documentation are far above par for this sort of book. Definately belongs in any Fortean bookshelf !

All in all a good purchase ! But be warned it could lead to "America BC" and "In Plain Sight" or even "They All Discovered America !"

The author presents a very good overview of the facts that a Caucasian group of peoples inhabited North America before the Indian tribes of the land were here. Even Indian lore admits this as a fact of their history. It is hard for those who want to cling to outdated inconsistent theories to swallow the truth. We'd all be better off knowing the truth and accepting it for what is. What is lacking in the academic community is admitting their wrongs and accepting the facts as they have been found through past history. It's better to put together the facts of our past as correctly as we can and try and make sense from the truth rather than make up theories that ignore the obvious from the past. Thanks to people like this author who are finally setting the record straight.

Exciting facts I had never before been exposed to. Why don't our schools teach this aspect of American history? I was shocked at the amount of printed documentation from newspapers all over the US reporting these giant remains.

This book contains vital information--it is time that we stopped handing over control of our knowledge to those with a vested interest in their own power. Only the truth offers any real value in nurturing our humanity. Clearly, we need to support more independent researchers. Perhaps we should more carefully examine the mission of the Smithsonian.

Excellent book. A must read for anyone to know the things they don't tell you in the history books, yet you can find this information in the book of genesis of the bible. About time someone documented independent facts.
