This, as are all of these novels, is well written and engrossing. A little too much emphasis is put on Rizzoli's determined personality but it helps to explain her intensity towards her work. Entertaining book.

Another suspense filled novel. Could not put it down. She does an excellent job of weaving in prior story lines with suspense . Love how she explains medical procedures and terms. I think I have read most if not all of her mysteries and am looking forward to the next. The TV series ,Rizzoli & Isles helps visualize every word. Hurry up and write more!

I believe this novel is Tess Gerritsen at her best. There is just the correct mix of suspence, characters and understandable medical facts. After a long career as an RN, I was able to understand all the autopsy information. A great book.

Excellent book, suspenseful, a definite page turner. This is the second book that I read by Tess Gerritsen. The story is a murder mystery, and had me engrossed through to the end. Jane Rizzoli is a very interesting character. Highly recommend "The Apprentice." Received in perfect condition, and quick and easy transaction.

This second novel in the Rizzoli and Isles series was such a page turner that I couldn't put it down even at 2am with my eyes bugging out! I just finished it and had to rave - so here goes...

Tess Gerritsen has the ability to spin a yarn that's so twisted that I bet even my HUSBAND couldn't work out who the killer is. I know I was sure I had the answer - right to the end.

In my review of The Surgeon I moaned that I didn't really like the Rizzoli in the novels as much as the one on television. In this book you get to understand a bit more of the character and appreciate that although she is a feisty bitch, she has other facets to her personality. Her motivations and drives are very believable. The other characters in this offering similarly develop throughout the story and you end up liking the good guys - and of course hating the bad guys.

I thoroughly enjoyed the plot and was happily surprised at some of the things which happened that I didn't expect, as well as on or two things I expected to happen that didn't (wish I could elaborate - but noone likes spoilers). I could literally feel myself tensing in the same places as Rizzoli and collapsing with relief when she did.

If you are unsure about Tess Gerritsen - do yourself a favour and get both The Surgeon and The Apprentice and settle in for the thrills. Can't wait for the next one - aren't I lucky it's in my wish list right now?

I've been à fan of the Gerritsen books, unfortunately I didn't follow the sequence. But all her books are capturing. Unfortunately the TV series are not of the same level, you'll miss the character of both main characters.

The characters are so fully developed that I feel a part of the story as it unfolds. How I wish to be a sharp detective -so in control -as Tess Gerritsen shapes in her novels! I loved the first novel I read of hers and was equally satisfied with the second. I can hardly wait to get my hands on the next one in this series.

I enjoy the writing and the plot. The characters are engaging and once I start reading I don't want to stop until the end. So far I've read the first two Rizzoli & Isles books and I'm hooked on the series. It's nothing like the TV show, which I'm grateful for.

I just started reading the Rizzoli and Isles series and I am hooked!! I have read almost all of the books in the series in about 2 mos. It is comforting and uplifting, to have these two very powerful and successful women that I feel that I know, to have my down time with. These characters and all of Tess Gerritsen's characters are very relatable and that is probably why it is also a television series now! Once I am finished with all the reading, which is hard with three kids, I will move on to the series. I can't wait to see what these actors do with the amazing duo of Rizzoli and Isles.

This was riveting. I found myself holding my breath when Jane was alone in her car and apartment. I kept waiting for someone to jump out of the shadows. And the storyline with Gabriel Dean is great.

One of Tess' early Books.
I enjoyed The Apprentice - better than The Surgeon.
I don't feel Her latest Books are up to Her earlier writings.
Will still read the new ones but don't get the same
enjoyment.

A much better and entertaining read than the Surgeon (the first book introducing Jane Rizzoli). She is more real and shows her frailties and fears. In book one, she was shown as an uncaring individual who considered herself the female victim in a man's world having to maintain her toughness, remaining aloof to succeed. In this one she shows her need for a confidant and slowly lets her guard down. We are introduced to her family which explains much of her personality and obsession to succeed. Maura Isles is introduced and much like Rizzoli in the previous book appears as a fringe character only. The assumption is that in subsequent books she too will be fleshed out and the Rizzoli/Isles relationship will be built.

I have now read the entire Rizzoli and Isles series. For some reason this story got missed and became my last. Now the circle is complete. I am thoroughly enjoying the journey. Is there more Ms. Gerritsen? I hope so.
