I really enjoyed this book! Riding Freedom is an excellent book to read to elementary and middle school students. As a young girl, Charlotte, knew what she wanted to do with her life. Charlotte knew she wanted to work with horses and have her own ranch someday with her best friend Hay from the orphanage. Charlotte very much disliked the orphanage and Mr. Millshark, the owner, so she ran away. Charlotte had to disguise herself so no one would recognize her after she ran away. She dressed as a boy and became a stable boy to earn a place to sleep. While a stable boy, she learned how to drive a stagecoach and became the best driver anyone had ever seen. No one knew she was a woman, and if they did she would have never been able to live her dream. One of the best parts of the book is when Mr. Millshark rode with Charlotte in the stagecoach. He never knew it was her, so she had a good time making him miserable. I liked this book because of it's humorous and compassionate events. I could picture myself in those days struggling to get what I wanted, just like Charlotte. I could also vividly picture what Charlotte was seeing and doing. Charlotte was strong, smart, compassionate, brave, and followed through with her dreams. This book is a good read especially to those who love horses. Also, people who like stories about someone being strong and witty would also enjoy reading this book.

This book is my absolute favorite. I first read it in 4th grade. then i read it again, then i read it in 5th grade 2 more times, then i read it in 6th one more time. It really captured my attention, I remeber that i could never stop reading it. It may have been a little difficult for me in 4th grade but as i read it again and agian it made much more sense, and it really made my day. i recommended it to all my friends...well just one, but she said she loved it. If you don't read this book your seriously missing out.

This book is really good because it tells about Charlotte's life without her parents. In the beginning Charlotte's parents are killed in a wagon crash. Charlotte runs away from the orphanage and this is where the adventure begins. Her determination leads her to freedom. Her childhood friend was seperated but kept his promise to be together again as adults. I would really recommend you buy this book.

This book has suspense even for my dad. There were parts where you just have to find out what is going to happen. It was very good because it was true. You have to read the little part at the beginning and at the end, so you can really follow along with what is happening. It sort of puts a thought in your mind that you can do what you want. IF IT IS OK WITH YOUR PARENTS!!!!!

I liked learning about horses. In this book, Charlotte has a problem being in the world as a girl. No one wanted to hire a girl horse trainer or a girl horse driver. I liked seeing how Charlotte solved her problem. I was very happy for Charlotte when she finally got her dream. She didn't have to live her whole life as a boy. Her dream was to have her own horse farm and have her own foal. She finally got it and named it Justice after the horse that died.

This book is really good and if your intersted in the World Warll you'd probably really want to read it.My opinion of this book is really good because there are two young girls who are the best of friends and they're names are Annmarie and Ellen. Annemarie and her family are both Jewish and live in Copenhagen and are having to hide from the soligers or else they are ordered to be taken away!In the book Annemarie And her friend Ellen who has to pretend to be Annemaries sister both have to hide in the bedroom under the covers but Annemarie's dad said that they are aloud to talk and giggle but all of the sudden the soligers come into the room and Annemarie has a Jewish neckiles on and her friend Ellen is telling her to take it off but she can't get it because it's stuck on her so Ellen has to rip it off of her neck and finally right after that the soligers go out of the room not finding Ellen or Annemarie! So I would tell you this book is really an interesting book to read!

I give this book five stars because I think Riding Freedom is a good book. It was an encouraging book. It is about a girl named Charlotte Parkhurst who loves horses. This book is a historical fiction story; it is a wonderful book. My favorite part was when she saw a pitchfork aiming at her face. I recommend this book. I really enjoyed it. Pam Munoz Ryan and Brian Selslick did a great job.

This marvelous book was assigned reading for my son when he was in 3rd or 4th grade. I had trouble wresting it away from him. Fast moving adventure story with lots of horse-action.

Riding Freedom By: Pam Ryan Riding Freedom is a story about a girl that runs a way from a orphanage. Charlotte starts to work for a carriage comp. but she has to turn in to a boy to keep working there. When the companion moves to rode island she gets hit in the face by a wild mustang. She is brought in to the doctor and the doctor finds out that she is a woman. The doctor says that she will not be able to drive the horses ever again. more than ever she wished she would of stayed back were she was with freedom but then she remembered that freedom had died. When she got back she wanted to ride a horse again she kept trying and trying until she knew everything about the roads. This is a very good book about a girl and horses. I would recommend this book for someone who likes a adventure book about a girl who runs a way from her orphanage. This a really good book to read.

Riding Freedom is a book about a girl named Charlotte. She lives at an orphanage and her best Hayward is getting adopted. Charlotte asks if she can borrow his clothes to run away. She gets a job as a coach. She saw Mr.Millshark.That is Charlotte's worst night mare. I don't want to ruin the excitment in the story.

I read this book along with my daughter for school as a part of a book club. We ride horses so it was an easy pick for her to choose a book that we thought we would both enjoy reading based on the topic. It was a surprisingly different story than I expected. It was a wonderful book I enjoyed reading as much as she did. I loved that it was based on the true story. It was a very hard book to put down. Granted my daughter is in 3rd grade so it was a simple book to read for an adult but it really held my interest and I couldn't put it down until I finished it.

I read the book " Riding freedom" . It inspirational to me because of the main characters triumph over a corrupt country, and also because she controlled her own place in life. She also had the courage to do so when she was young and inexperienced. The story made up about this girl though is almost too amazing. Of course i understand that dreams can take you a very long way. But to be the first woman voter , have your own dream ranch , and be able to work at what you love almost brings out the truth of this book. The fact that it is a fictional book.
I did like the book, but i thought that the plot was to much along the lines of a fairy tale. She was brought up in an orphanage as the only girl besides the cook, lost an eye, and should not by rights been able to do the things that she did. Charlotte got everything she dreamed of. While the ending made me happy, i did not think it enforced much of reality.

Graders and up would really enjoy this book. I also liked the part when the man was holding a pitchfork over Charlotte's face. I learned that two wrongs don't make a right.
Charlotte is really good with horses. Charlotte was really strong when Freedom died.
