This book represents my life on so many levels, even though the abuse I suffered was not to the same degree ultimately the end result was exactly the same ... a murder suicide in a car. So horrific and so traumatic for anyone to endure but I too have found a rock in my new partner that helps me get through the dark days. Much love to anyone else that has endured such heartbreak and unfortunately there are way to many xx
This is well written, and so sad on many levels as this is a reality for many.

This story is written in two voices, the wife and the mother. A tragedy occurs that causes gossip and speculation in a small town. Why did a successful man commit suicide and why was his wife thrown into a tailspin over it? A wonderfully written story with a happy ending.

Thank you Kelly Rimmer for writing this story. I absolutely loved this book....it stayed with me long after I finished reading. I felt haunted by what these 2 women had endured for loving David. I did realise David was a control freak & could see which way the story was headed. But I did not guess the conclusion in this tragedy, it came as a shocking surprise. I just don't know how Olivia held out so long. Ivy left me wondering if a mothers love is truly blind.

I loved the honesty in Kelly’s description of how a person in an abusive relationship really feels. Unless you’ve been abused you never really know how much more damage occurs by those loved ones who know the secret but make a conscious decision to not speak up. What a heart wrenching lovely story. What a true picture of survivalist instincts we all have inside us if we dig deep. Thank you Kelly.

Wonderful story, not my usual reading at first, thought it was too predictable and a bit repetitive. But really enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it. It is quite sad and dark, not an easy read at times.

an incredible book; I found myself in tears (during a plane trip) often, especially with Ivy's depression, her not receiving the support and understanding of her in-laws, and some of the townspeople, and, finally, with the realization that her daughter had also died. I will definitely read Kelly Rimmer again!

Domestic violence is a hard read, but also can give insight to how it is dealt with by the victims. The secrets and lies that are given and sometimes excused. Refreshing to read that some women are strong and help others that are in these horrific lives.

Kelly brought forth truth in portrayal of thought patterns abused persons are forced into by their abusers. The complicity of characters close to Olivia are fascinating but horrifying. What an engaging story that had a surprising twist. Kelly's book has me feeling informed about abusive relationships and wanting to be intentional in helping victims of domestic violence.

This was a page turner. Interesting to see how domestic abuse is viewed differently through different view points and over time. Can't say much without giving away the end but it was a doozy if you didn't see it coming.

The book held my interest through each page!! I did get a bit confused during the story about who was who then realized I should have paid attention to the name below the chapter number!! A surprising twist to the story!! A great read into the cycle of domestic abuse.......I highly recommend the book and will do so to friends.

Tears, healing , strength. A great, suspenseful drama. A lot of light was shed on domestic abuse. Many times people are clueless or in Ivy's case, in total denial. Maybe even to blame somewhat. This was a good look at those events that can make a person who they are.

Really surprising climax to this story. I can't remember exactly when in the story I began to have a premonition about how the story might end, but it really was a surprise. It's sad, but not hopeless. It is a very real narrative about how and why domestic violence happens.

I enjoyed reading this book . it took me longer than usual to finish, however it was so worth it. The ending was not what I was expecting at all. Good job, brilliant writing! I'll be looking for more of your books.

Have never read a book with two people giving their opinion on what is happening found it delightful
Never would have guessed the ending was taken by surprise but at least it was exactly what should have happened

This book kept me reading late into the night. I enjoyed reading both the mother in law and the mothers point of view. Domestic violence is always a rough subject but I think Kelly Rimmer hits this one perfectly. The violence, the healing process and the twist I did not see coming!

When I first began reading this book, I was confused. The title suggests it is about one woman confessing to something. When I went from one chapter to another, I could not figure out the relationships. It seemed like the woman was confused about her husband and child's names. Finally I realized that each chapter was headed by a name. I did not notice the names at first since they are in such a light typeface. When realization hit, the book made perfect sense and I breathed a sigh of relief. I like the way the story goes back and forth between the two women and how their lives are intertwined. The story itself is quite good; but when the many printing errors are added in, the story becomes bogged down (at least for me). I am a stickler for correct word usage and correct grammar in general. I am American and realize that we have different names for some things, such as boot-trunk, torch-flashlight, bonnet-hood etc. I also realize that we spell some words differently using s-z and s-c. That is not what I am writing about for printing errors. I am writing about word omissions, incorrect word forms and other "typos". When I read a book, I become totally immersed in it and read every word so I do not miss any nuances. I reflect on and react to what I am reading while I am reading. Because of this, when I come to an error, I need to stop and determine what should be there to make sense. This can be quite disruptive while reading, especially with the many errors that are in this book. I get jolted out of my pleasant reading experience each time that I come to an error. The book no longer flows and is less enjoyable. Remember this is my opinion based on who I am and how I read. Your experience will probably be different.

I found this book to be very interesting. I couldn't wait to get to the end and find out how Olivia did. I cried when I found out something surprising. I loved how the story was told from both mother's viewpoint. Have some tissues handy.

What a great story. Albeit tragic, I was glad to see her happy ending. I never saw that twist coming. I wanted to punch both antagonists in the face (Ivy and David ), and shame on Wyatt for not wanting to bother with the situation.

I read this book in one long sitting! Impossible to stop reading. The characters were very real, human and flawed. There is a tragic twist to this story that I did not see coming, but ultimately a satisfactory conclusion to the book.

GREAT story. I did not see the ending coming, and usually I do. Such a great story. Sad, tragic, however, it feels more like a story about a mother claiming herself back and climbing out of a whole she has been in. so good. definitely worth the read.

Gather some tissues because you will need you as you read the story of a tragedy and the power of love to bring life after devastation. Could not put this book down until I got to the totally unexpected ending.

I chose this rating because this was such an emotionally charged story. The characters are true to form. Lots of sadness, but eventually the story finally got to a place of forgiveness for the main character.

Interesting book that moved along a bit slowly - but the characters were defined nicely. The story is a reminder of how many families have to endure sad circumstances. The near ending was not expected.

A must read for mothers and wives who are fearful of their Iives, I dedicate this book to my sister, Danielle Louise Slinkard Yamnitz, whose life was forever damaged by her physically abusive exhusband who tried time and time again to end her life while hiding behind the Navy. The irrefutable harm he caused her and her son will forever haunt our family.

Really enjoyed this read! Original story line, likable characters and an interesting twist that you guess early on...BUT, it does not take away from the book or the ending! You won't be disappointed!

This was a heartwarming story. It was very well written and after I started reading it was hard to put down. I think the reason I liked it the most is that the story line was not predictable. I will definitely look for more books by this author.
