The second book in a terrific new series. Mr. Goodwin writes in a wonderful style and his characters are flawed but persevere through extraordinary difficulties while maintaining their Christian faith.

Another hit from Mark Goodwin. The second book in the series is just as good, if not better than the first. In fact, all of Mark Goodwin's books I've read or listened to are fantastic. Lot's of action and character development, without the excessive violence and foul language in some books in this genre. I can't wait for the next book to come out.
Cast Under an Alien Sun (Destiny's Crucible Book 1) :: Book One of the Sorcery Ascendant Sequence - A Crucible of Souls :: The Seven Years' War and the Fate of Empire in British North America :: Book 3 - Heavier Than a Mountain - Destiny's Crucible :: Crucible: Star Wars Legends

Mark's books keep getting better and better. The character development and the attachment you feel to them, set this series apart from his other books. This events in this book seem like they are ripped from tomorrow's headlines.

Really disappointed in this book. I've read most of this author's kindle selection and liked them. A female lead character was intriguing but I'm not a fan. I don't care for the direction any of these characters story lines have taken.

I've read or listened to every book from this author. I look at these books as learning tools while I'm being entertained with action. Something I really enjoy is the relationship the characters have with their creator. There are no curse words to contend with. Embers of Empire is full of hope and love and loss. It's very relatable even though it's time period is in the future. I highly recommend all of the books from this author. Once I get an email that a new book has come out I read them within a day or two. I just can't put them down!

The characters are real and have all the human frailties we share. It is amazing what you can do when you have to. It is easy to get involved in the lives of these characters and you root for them and mourn with them. These things are happening in our country right now. Let's all pray it doesn't come to this. If it does let's hope there are people out there like these. Hurry up book three!

In the second book we find our team in a hardcore fight against the evil that invading their land. Committed to making it as hard as possible for Marovich's people to claim success, each of them faces a crisis of conscious in some form. And in the end, we say good bye to some.
Excellent story telling. Exciting adventures. Strong reliance on God.

Finished book two and half days. Couldn't put the book down it was that good. A lot of action back stuff in it that I liked. Hopefully there will be book three. But if that's it, then the ending was coming from a Law&Order ending episode.

This book is a real page turner that is hard to put down! With some ups and downs and some real “I didn’t see that one coming” events, as well as some great digital info on things that I had no clue even existed, this series is terrific reading!

I liked the second one better then the first. I understand the first was setting the story and background on characters but this one has more action and suspense. I am enjoying it very much and can’t wait to go get the 3rd book in this series! GOD BLESS!!

Although Ava is going enough to be one of my grandchildren I wish I had some of her courage, strength and determination. As you look at today's headlines, get ready, Ava's got some tips for you! Thank you Mr. Goodwin.
Now on to book 3!!

I enjoyed Book 1 very much. Book 2 was even better. The realism was rather frightening at times, and I grimaced many times while listening. Some of the books in this genre are so out there that it is hard to imagine yourself in the protagonists' position - not this book. It felt very real and left me wondering how I would handle a situation like this.
Looking forward to book 3! The only thing I am hoping for is a conclusion to the story - please don't drag it out to 5-6 books!
