Too much repetition of the first book phrases/ descriptions in the series. Also, a lot of components of the story didn't hang together as well as the first book. I'm reading the 3rd in the series now (Shadow President) to see if its better.

I'm struggling thru this book, so disjointed I have a hard time following where they are going and what they are trying to get across. I will loan it to a friend, and if he can get thru it, may come back to it, if he recommends it. I usually like Brad's books, but somehow this one is just not doing it for me. I'll get back to you, if I ever do read it.

I've never read anything by this author before. If u want a great mystery or thrill then this is the book. I really enjoyed all the links from past to present about conspiracy theories of killing presidential leaders. I couldn't put it down. I finished it in two days

Bought and read Inner Circle ... this is the 'second" act to that book. But the two set up such a great twosome read. Dashed through the pages (KIndle Fire) quickly. I have not read his other books. His pattern seems similar. I just enjoyed these two ... I did not want to spoil reading other books, yet.

May bite later ...

I basically enjoyed the book. It took awhile to get into it and I almost put it down but then it got very interesting. It was one of the choices for our book club. We all basically felt the same on the book. Slow start, good middle, and sort of left you hanging at the end. .

I happen to like fiction more than nonfiction, but in the Fifth Assassin, Brad Meltzer did a good
job of melding history with fiction. I both learned a bit of history and was kept wondering who the fifth assassin
was and how he would be caught. A fun read.

It is just me - Brad Meltzer books and my reading preferences do not mix well. I have bought several of his books and each time I quit them after 100 pages and get rid of them. - I simply do not care for his characters. This one is on me not the author

At times I wanted to slap Beecher, his main character, but Metzer is a master story teller who brings excellent pacing to his work. I really couldn't separate his historical facts from invented fiction in this tale. No matter. I believed every word. LNM

A rather strange writing style. It seemed at first that I had started a book somewhere in the middle and had no idea what was going on. One of those books that you don't like all that much but want to see how it ends.

Have always loved Brad Meltzer's books but this one was a disappointment. I get what he was trying to do, but he just worked too darn hard to make his point. I got bogged down trying to keep up with all of the various dates, actions, etc. Sometimes you can say something darn well in 200 pages, and yet take 500 to put it on paper!!

Although the plot is a bit unlikely (someone copying the assassinations of four Presidents), the action and suspense is non-stop!! Meltzer continues to produce a product that becomes addictive and you want to continue reading as long as possible.

I really enjoyed the political secrecy and intrigue that is in the book. Look forward to reading more. Really enjoyed the characters. Had trouble reading in the beginning because the story went back and forth. after a while I finally settled in and really enjoyed the loose comraderie between the childhood friends.

I thoroughly enjoyed earlier stories in this series but have to say the characters are now wearing a bit thin.
This one moves very slowly and I found myself looking to see how much more I had to read to finish it.
Never a good sign.
Last one I will buy.

The story had potential but Meltzer's approach to telling it - with multiple flashbacks across multiple scenes and characters sucked the magic right out of the story. It was a struggle to finish and, in the end, I felt like I completde a task that was a duty, not something I really enjoyed.

The conspiracy angle was hard to buy into over the deaaths of 4 Presidents staring with Lincoln.
At end I felt it was unfinished as one of the shadowy characters involved in the current conspiracy just left a mental facility and was roaming DC with his illl daughter. No conclusion to this.

This book was ridiculously confusing and the identity of the villain was not realistic. When I first started reading I thought I should have read the first book in the trilogy first but it would not have helped. It was simply a poorly written book with foolish dialogue for the most part. Sorry I spent the money on it.

Meltzer finished the book setting up another sequel. He should move on. Four years between books makes it hard to remember whether the reader likes, dislikes the characters; whether their subplots are interesting or not. Having read the first book so long ago, I found it difficult to pick up the threads and didn't rally care all that much.

Not a bad book, except that the author states that he researches all his stories. He must not do this too good, or he does his research on the internet!
He make reference to the death of Harry Houdini, that he died during one of his performances, WRONG! On 10/22/1926 after being hit in the abdomen and not prepared for same by McGill University students, he sufferd a ruptured appendix before his last performance which he completed and died days later.

No body can combine historical facts and a current fictitious story like Brad Meltzer, and the Fifth Assassin is a culmination of his craft. The story is fast paced and interesting, which makes it tough to put down.

Probably due to my busy schedule I kept having to put this
Down. Hard to get back into and the back and forth backstory made it hard for me to stay involved even though I think it's
Sort of an intriguing plot concept.

I really loved this fast moving story. Others ave given a good synopsis of the story. The story has the evidence of excellent research. It is worth the price with all the "secret" revelations. Buy it. Red it.

As i got through the first several chapters, i thought about leaving the rest of this book unread. The premise is really not believable. But i persevered, and am glad i did. The construct of using the historical assassinations of US Presidents as models for modern day murders is quite fascinating. Suspension of disbelief is necessary to appreciate this fine, historically informative novel.

I found the plot ridiculous and both the story and characters difficult to follow. Why would an assassin choose seemingly random people to duplicate past presidential killings? I struggled through 143 pages then quit. I'M Sorry I WASTED MY TIME and money!

Since I really like this author's books, I preordered this one. Like his earlier works, this keeps you guessing, but it is also disappointing because ultimately it is nothing more than a lead-in for the next book. I'm not sure I care about what happends next to anticipate the next book with much excitement.

Good book. It gets a little unbelievable in the end but is full of those moments that make you think, "is this stuff really there?" Great connection of all presidential assassinations. the book is a better read if you have some of the back ground provided by the Inner Circle that sets the personalities of this book as well as some of the background although the author presents enough for a this book only read

I just loved it. The characters came to life for me and that is when I love a book. Great plot and it kept me going. I was so disappointed when I finished it and hope there will be a sequel and SOON!
