good fast read during a plane flight New York - Paris.
I hope next book is a bit more exciting this one was rather light and fast. Jude Deveraux is one of the writers i discovered when I arrived in New York years ago, i am faithful to her. a large number of others who changed their direction I have dropped.

I highly recommend this book. In fact, I highly recommend all of Jude Deveraux's novels.

Since most people just scan the reviews, I wanted that to be the first thing that anyone noticed because it's the most important. Now on to the good stuff.....

Stranger in the Moonlight is a pleasant story about Kimberly and Travis. They meet in "quaint" Edilean, Virginia when they are children. Their experiences together eventually end up shaping who they become as adults. Travis mysteriously leaves and causes Kim to always wonder about him. Many years later, Travis finds himself back in Edilean to help his mother but also back in love with Kim. What follows is a sweet romance that leaves the reader smiling for hours.

I'm a huge fan of all of Jude's books. I've read all of them and anxiously wait for the next one. At first I felt skeptical of the Edilean series. I had grown to love the Montgomery's and Taggert's and didn't want to leave them. She has, of course, won me over with this wonderful little town. I don't know why I ever doubted it. The feeling of "home" is definitely present in all the books in this series. The warmth she seems to create with this town envelops the reader. If you are a fan that was skeptical as well, give it a chance. It's worth it.

I have always admired the characters that Jude creates. There is exceptional character development and at the end of the book you know the people inside and out. It creates a connection that is missing in so many books today. Her characters are STRONG. I think this is what I like the most. Her male AND female characters are strong, intelligent, interesting people that are capable of overcoming any challenge. They have unique interests and most of all, a passion for them. I find that most books have simpering, whiny females that just let life happen. It's my biggest pet peeve in books. Travis was surprising and diverse. I found him to be a wonderful character. Kimberly was sweet, insightful, and creative but I would have liked to have seen more gumption from her. I didn't question whether or not it was there, but I would have liked for it to have shown more.

Her books always make me laugh, cry, and smile so much my face hurts. This was definitely a smile book. I didn't cry. I think it could have used more conflict, but at the same time, I liked seeing the characters so happy together. I thought Travis had it a little bit too easy with Kim. Granted, they've been in love since childhood, but it needed some extra sizzle in my opinion. But what do I know?!!

Overall, I LOVED it. :)

Reading 'Stranger in the Moonlight' was wonderful. Kim and Travis take you on a journey that is filled with light hearted mischief, serious relationsips and love. Its dialogue kept me turning the page as all of the 'Eidlean' series books have so far...

Jude Deveraux is a master storyteller. She can make you laugh and cry. I even took my kindle outside at 11:00 P.M when my dogs wanted out so I could continue reading this book. My daughter did something similar. You willl love it.

Author Jude Deveraux returns to her fictional community of Edilean, VA with "Stranger in the Moonlight". As children, Kim Aldredge and Travis Maxwell met one Summer when he and his mother spent a brief time in Edilean. Somewhat mysterious, and unlike any other boy she'd ever met, twelve-years-old Travis found a place in the heart of eight-years-old Kim. They formed a unique, deeply-felt bond, and Travis promised to one day return to Edilean. Eighteen years later, Travis is a successful attorney, man-of-the-world, and certified risk-taker. His vision of life and love skewered by the difficult relationship between his parents, the sweetest and most dear memory of his life is the long-ago Summer he spent with Kim. When his mother announces her impending remarriage and her return to Edilean, Travis knows its time to go back to where his heart has longed to go. Not only does he want to check out his mother's new love, but he very much wants to see Kim. Travis impacts Kim's life and her heart when he finally reappears, and she is not sure if she likes the man he has become. He's charming, but somewhere along the way, the boy was lost and a very different man took his place. This is a reunion romance, but one where childish hearts are now ruled by adult realities--can they go back again? If you believe strongly enough, and love with all your heart, then anything is possible.

This book was sweet and sassy - pure Jude Deveraux. However, there were so many romances going on, complete with backstories, that it just cluttered up the book. Add to it references to romances in the previous series books (which I have not read) and it ends up being a mish mash of new and ongoing romances. I think the main romance in and of itself was good, as were the romances of the parents involved. If the story had been trimmed down I would have given it 4 stars.

I am not much with words. But, considering the amount of negative publicity that occurs on here, I felt I needed to counteract that with a positive review.
First of all, bravo, Jude Deveraux!! You once again have won my heart with you words in "Stranger in the Moonlight." And, I feel as if I am not alone in this feeling.
Continuing on with her Edilean series, this second installment in the "Moonlight" triology is about Kim Aldredge, a successful jeweler in this small, yet quaint historial town. Years ago, she met a mysterious young boy, Travis, when he visited this small town for two short weeks during her eighth summer. These two taught one another not only facts about life, but how to truly love and care about someone else in the world. After Travis abruptly leaves, both of their lives have changed. Reconnecting 18 years later, the two haven't changed much at all. In fact, perhaps the kind of person they were when they were children are a shawdow of who they are as adults.

Throughout the book, many lovable characters are also brought back from the previous Edilean novels. So, Jude fans, you will not be disappointed in losing these wonderful people! New characters are also introduced, and just as well loved- Penny Pendergast, Russel, Randall Maxwell and many more.

Jude Deveraux truly knows how to reel a reader into her plot. If you have never read a book of hers, I truly recommend to start immediately. Pick any book from her collection and you will not be disappointed.

Once again, well done. :)

Once again, Jude takes my breath away. Stranger in the Moonlight was another JD book that I bought and couldn't put it down once I started reading it. This book is so much more than Kim and Travis's story and I am so glad I read it.

If you have never read any of the Edilean series before, then I strongly suggest that you do. I love Edilean and the people who live there. When you read this series, you can't have a Montgomery/Taggert mindset or you will be disappointed. Different families, different times; all equally amazing in their own ways.

I was so happy when reading this book. Thank you for adding bits about Clarissa and Tristan. I secretly still pray for Silver Roses someday.

Does Ms Deveraux write under other names? Just saw a book to be published on May 28th, by Susan Mallery: Just One Kiss (Fool's Gold) with a very similar plot; at least in the publisher's description.
Very confused.

Wonder if the new version will improve the first? I found it ok for light reading but not exceptional.
