I am always happy to read a new book by Gena Showalter. Forgiveness is so important in real life also. I like the beginning of this new series. Kenna and Dane have so much potential together. Dane had to change so much and really look inside himself. Even though he was older Kenna was more mature than him. A few surprises. The secondary characters also contributed to the story.

I am a big Gena Showalter fan, but not this book.
Dane - rich, emotionally stunted, rude. 29 acts 18.
Kenna - poor, rich mom that ignores her and her granddaughter, emotionally vulnerable/stunted, immature. 23 talks and acts like 15 year old , thinks in hash tags.
Whether the characters were 6 through 60 Everyone in this book is immature and rude. The whole small town is full of sluts and nuts. Everyone is rude judgemental and mean. This book is not for me and I will not read any more in the heartbreakers Series.

This book was sweet. I already like Kenna from the previous books but in this I saw a whole new person. She was sweet and funny and her daughter Norrie was just adorable. Dane was insanely hot but had issues. Put these two together and it was magic for me. I wished this was longer and more background.

Did not like one bit. Story line was okay I guess but it was super rushed and you had no time to get to know the characters then all of a sudden they have fallen in love and are moving in together. I usually like Gena Showalter but this was not good.

Really loved our plucky heroine. Life kicked her in the teeth and she just kept going with little family support and good friends.
Our "hero" however- yuck!! Rich but thoughtless, tortured but self involved and just plain nasty.
Just proves that opposites do attract!
Steamy sex scenes but predictable storyline.
Not for me.

I have read everyone of Gena Showalters books and I can say you can't go wrong with any of them. I've only liked a few of them but have loved the rest of them! I love her writing and can't wait for the next book! I have a feeling the original heartbreakers series is going to be one of my favorite series that she has written.

The One You Want is a novella in The Original Heartbreakers series by Gena Showalter. It introduces us to Strawberry Valley and several of the townsfolk and new residences.
I really enjoyed this novella more then I expected too. I can’t wait to continue into the series.
Kenna is a hard working single mother who has had to deal with town gossip and labels that aren’t true.
Dane used to live in Strawberry Valley, but his family left and now he’s back and boy has he grown up, in all the best ways.
Dane and Kenna both have issues and things in their past that they haven’t dealt with. I fell in love with both Dane and Kenna at the start. Kenna held her ground throughout the book. I liked the friendship Kenna has with Brook Lynn and that crazy silly bucket list was just too much fun. And, Kenna’s daughter was just wonderful. She has no filter and with kids it’s so true. They say anything and everything.
The setting and characters were so reminiscent of what people go through when they think they know your past, what you’ve done, and how you’e acted.
I adored this novella, I loved the setting, and I loved the characters.
Audio Review: This is my first experience with Savannah Richards. She brought this novella to life. Everything felt more real and intense. I thoroughly enjoyed all the voices. They came across clear, crisp, and well defined. The audio was pleasant and comfortable to listen too. I plan to continue the series in this formate.

The One You Want is book #0.5 in The Original Heartbreakers series by Gena Showalter. Perhaps it is because I read these out of order and had already met Kenna and gotten to know her, or maybe just because this series is so awesome, I loved this book.
Kenna Starr’s mother has been having an affair with Dane Michaelson’s father for years. The affair is why the Michaelson’s left Strawberry Valley. But now Dane’s father has finally gotten a divorce and has moved back to Strawberry Valley to be with the love of his life. Kenna hasn’t seen Dane since they were kids. And boy oh boy did he grow up, in the best of ways.
Dane Michaelson has taken over his father’s company, making him a very rich man. That in combination with his hotness factor makes him a hot commodity with the women. But Dane doesn’t do relationships, at all. He does owe Kenna a long overdue apology. The last time they saw each other when they were kids, he was rude. He’ll just apologize and be done with it, right? But he soon realizes that he will never have enough of Kenna Starr. She is a mom, though. Dane doesn’t date moms even more than he doesn’t do relationships.
“I’ve never desired anyone the way I desire you. You are all I can think about, all I care about.”
Kenna is a single mother, and that alone makes her reputation questionable in the small community of Strawberry Valley. Let alone the reasons she is a single mom. She has always felt the weight of the judgement of the town. But she loves her daughter more than anything. They are a package deal. When Dane shows interest in her, he makes it clear he is uncomfortable around children. When he’s alone with Kenna, she couldn’t ask for a more wonderful man, but when her daughter is around, he is stiff and uncomfortable. If he can’t accept them both, how can she keep him in her life?
“I know we said we’d take things slow, but I thought we could negotiate and speed things up.”
“I agree. Like I said, let’s go. We’ll do our negotiating in private.”
Don’t you love it when you find a book or series that makes your heart pound a little harder, perhaps makes you swoon a little bit? This series does all of that and more. Kenna is quick to care, quick to forgive, and easy to love. And Dane is total hotness in a suit. I fell in love with both of them from the start. I hated the way that some of the town’s people looked down their noses at Kenna. I loved her friendship with Brook Lynn and their crazy bucket list of fun things to do. Both this book and series will make you laugh, sigh, swoon, and perhaps fan yourself. I’m so excited for the release of book two tomorrow. If you haven’t started the series yet, now’s your chance. It is better to read them in order so you can get to know the characters and their own stories in the order they are introduced. I hope you love them as much as I do.

3.5 to 4 Stars... This was a sweet novella with some unexpected humor that pulled me further into the story and connected me with the characters... There was actually enough material that this could have been a full length novel, but since it was a novella the issues got resolved a bit quicker that I would have liked... That being said, it hooked me into wanting to continue the series and see the other characters get their HEA:)

I got the copy of this book free for my Nook and while I liked it the ending seemed rushed.
Kenna and Dane knew each other as children. When he was 13 and she was seven, his mother found out that Kenna's mother was having an affair with Dane's father. From that day forward he hated his father, her mother, and never saw Kenna again. That is until they both attended the engagement party for their respective parents fifteen or so years later. He is rich cold. She is poor, with a six year old daughter and struggling to make ends meet. Sparks fly!!
The One You Want is a good, quick, read. I enjoyed reading it and would recommend it. The people are just exactly what you think they should be; great friends, crappy boss, precocious child, self-conscious woman (give me a self assured woman character, please), and man with a hidden heart of gold.

Dane Michaelson is every woman's dream bad boy. Kenna is labeled the town slut just like her mother. All because she was taken advantage of at a party and ended up pregnant. Kenna's mom has been having an affair with Dane's father and he takes out his anger on her when they were kids. Now after years of being away Dane sees Kenna and is instantly attracted.
This is a prequel novella in The Original Heartbreakers series. There isn't much to the story, it would have been better if there was more depth to the story...more questions answered...just longer. It is a sweet romantic story...I just can't help that it was too fast and I wish there was more depth to it.

this was my first Showalter contemporary, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Loved the set up for the new series, and I'm hoping to get my hands on the other books.
Dane and Kenna had the right chemistry, and Showalter's penchant for Alpha males came through in Dane. The added bonus of Norrie was darn cute, too. The perfectly little imp to throw Dan off-kilter. There's a peek at the upcoming hero leads in the other books, and heroines, too.
Might I add, Showalter brought in the spice and life of a small town, USA. Guess it doesn't matter what state you live in, those little towns, with their nosy residents all seem to do the same thing. Create the best conflict!

I had read this before, but decided to read it again. I liked Kenna, and felt sorry for her because she got treated like dirt and did not deserve it, I am glad that she finally ended up getting some happiness. Then there is Dane, who could not figure out what he wanted, yes he wanted Kenna, but on his terms, he finally realized that she was the best thing that could happen to him and wised up.

This book gave me just what I wanted today. No it isn't deep, no it isn't long, yes some points of the story failed to be resolved and yes I had a great time reading it. There are times you just want a light hearted laugh in a book and nothing mysterious or deep. This is the book that fits the description of "fun" and you move on. "It is what it is" and that is it! Fun. I laughed and laughed at some of the dry humored statements; I laughed some more at the tangled webs people weave in life; I laughed at the funny little girl in the book and I laughed when Kenna stood up for herself and remained strong even though she loved Dane to death. No one and absolutely no one was going to offend her daughter and she was firm about that. Yes, I had a good day reading this light book and enjoyed every minute of it.

Another great installment from Gena Showalter I didn’t think her books could get any better but apparently they can. This is the first book in the Original Heartbreakers series and what a way to start off a series. This book just had me engrossed and my emotions were all over the place as I saw what each character was going through. I absolutely fell in love with Dane and Kenna and I absolutely can’t wait to see where this series goes and who I will fall in love with next.

I would love to find a bigger word sometimes than a good LOVE story. My heart accually hurt throughout this book. I'm a paranormal girl all the way, but because I love her other books I thought what the hell I'll try it. Well I'm so impressed and overwhelmed loved it. Thanks for a great story. I'm goin to go buy the other ones right now lol.

Kenna and Danes story was a tough one cause Kenna forgave everyone and all the rumors from the town. Dane was bitter and never wanted a commitment cause of what happened in his house as a child and defiantly didnt want to date a mother but Kenna's heart cooked him and now he had to find a way to understand it

I found this one too ambitious, too much covered in too short a time. But, it is a good opener to a very good series. I read the next, first full length in the series, "The Closer You Come (Original Heartbreakers Book 1)" and really liked it -- it was fully flushed out and well written. Stick with this series if this first novella disappoints you. I am on to read books 2 and 3; very intriguing stories shaping up...
