If you thought the stakes were high in Alice Through the Zombie Glass that's nothing compared to what Ali and the slayers are facing in this instalment. Zombies may be evil but they're mindless creatures that act on instinct and it turns out that humans are far more dangerous. Anima doesn't want to see the slayers wipe out the zombies, not when they've worked so hard to find a way to control them, so they will do whatever it takes to wipe out Ali and her friends.

Right from the beginning of The Queen of Zombie Hearts the action is off the charts and the slayers are really up against it. Anima is always one step ahead and they're willing to act with lethal force to get rid of everyone Ali cares about. I was on the edge of my seat for much of the story, there are some great twists and a couple of shocks that I would never have spotted coming. I actually came pretty close to tears at one point thanks to one unexpected and utterly heart wrenching event. In fact, I'm still not quite sure I believe that I read that part right, I kept hoping it would all turn out to be some kind of horrific misunderstanding.

I was pleased to see that Ali and Cole had got their relationship back on track but then there is one moment where Cole reverted to his foolish behaviour and pushed Ali away again. It was in a particularly emotional situation so part of me could understand his reaction but I was annoyed that once again he turned his back on her when she needed him the most. I think I find it more frustrating because most of the time he's such a great guy and I'm generally really happy to root for them as a couple. I just wish he wouldn't have these stupid moments.

There are a lot of changes in this book, a lot of revelations about characters we know and love and we get to meet a whole new group of slayers who added an interesting dynamic to the story. The two groups don't really trust each other but Anima is causing so much trouble that they have to work together if they're going to have any chance of stopping them. The story has definitely ramped up on all levels and I can't wait to see how things play out in the next book. Ali has been through a lot already but I think she's still got quite a battle ahead of her before she can let her guard down.

Synopsis: (no spoilers)

Ali knew who she was when she woke up, but seems to have changed a lot since then…

Ali has been through a lot since her family died and since she learned about (and how to fight) zombies. She’s made friends, fallen in love, been betrayed, tortured, and been nearly killed (a lot). She’s made and lost friends to the zombies, and the evil corporation controlling them. Now it’s time she and her friends “girl up” (way better than “manning up”), and make everyone pay.

Just in time for the biggest battle of their lives, Ali discovers her powers are strengthening more and more. And she’s developed a few new ones too. They might be just what she needs to turn the tide in this war, but they don’t come without danger and sacrifice. Ali will need to dig deep for the strength to win this final fight, and will learn more about betrayal and sacrifice than she thought possible to keep the rest of her loved ones alive

My Thoughts: (No spoilers) It’s time to “put on your big girl panties” (as Kat would say), and read The Queen of Zombie Hearts, the final installment of Ali’s story in The White Rabbit Chronicles. A Mad Zombie Party comes out in September 2015 and will chronicle the adventures of other characters in the world of The White Rabbit Chronicles. This is simultaneously the most heart-wrenching, and most humorous installment so far. Showalter doesn’t pull any punches with this one, and the characters suffer incredible trials and loss, however she manages to add enough light-hearted moments, steamy romance, and Kat’s patented blend of ego and humor to lighten the mood when necessary. This entire series is peppered liberally with equal parts romance, horror, action, mystery, lovable characters, and laugh-out-loud humor, making it one of my favorites. This book brought enough conflict, tension, fun, and surprises to make it a thrilling, suspenseful, and ultimately satisfying conclusion to this arc in the series. Somewhat mature themes (death, blood/gore, & sexual content) will be found, however nothing too graphic. A recommended read for those who like a laugh with their horror, and characters they’ll fall in love with again, and again

Gena Showalter is one of my favourite authors, and this is one of my favourite series. I’m sad it’s over. Really, really sad. I’m going to miss reading about everyone. I even put off reading it for a little while. This being the end of the trilogy, I was conflicted on how I was going to feel at the end, I didn't want to dislike it (which often tends to happen), but I am thankful to say that this story couldn't have been written any better. Endings are bittersweet for me. This ending was especially bittersweet.

Queen of the Zombie Hearts made me laugh and cry. My emotions were all over the place sometime and there were times when I had to go back and re-read because I was skimming past parts because the anticipation of what was going to happen next killed me. Not going to lie, there are some situations which happened and I'm not sure what to think of them. Showalter made the right decision and what happened had to happen, but it's sticking with me. Usually I can read a book then that's it, but Queen of Zombie Hearts is sticking in my head.

Queen of the Zombie Hearts concludes the White Rabbit Chronicles. The drama continues with Alice and the gang when Anima, the agency who control the dead, make another attack, and this time, they mean war....

The feels. I don’t know what else to say. I didn’t expect this story to go as it did, but I loved every second, but, at the end, I couldn’t help like feeling something was....missing? Uncompleted? I’m not sure if it’s because I love the series and didn’t want it to end or whatever, it just felt like there was a smidgen of something missing. Like there was something I wanted to know, to see how it turned out, and I didn’t really get to 'see' it, it was just explained. That being said, it was perfectly executed and Gena Showalter did an amazing job with this series.

So... this book was good. A lot of times the end of a series doesnt live up to my expectations. It doesnt answer enough question, and doesnt leave me feeling satisfied with the conclusion.
I did not have that issue with this book.
However, it still isnt my favorite ever.

Ali is still awesome, and significantly better than she was in book 2 (with the wishy-washy romance and zombie alice trying to take over). She is so much more assertive by the end of this series, compared to the beginning, that I really like her.
The romance between her and Cole, while still having some (new) drama, was so much better than the 2nd book also.

That being said, I feel like their romance (at least some aspects of it) are way too old for a YA book. Sex is in YA, because teens have sex. I get it. But the whole spanking joke... ugh. Also- this is pretty much the only aspect of Cole that I dont like. While I get it, he's used to being in control, and while Ali still resists his super, ultra controllingness, it got so old hearing him always trying to control her.

the plot was solid- though the emergence of Helen was... unnecessary, and not my favorite.
The loss of life in this book was high, though only 1 of them actually affected my emotions. the others were...unimportant.

But really, this was an awesome series.
Satisfying end.
i dont plan on reading the newest book with Frosty's POV- because I liked Frosty in these books and I feel like he'll change way too much.

*Spoiler*-
below!!!!

Frosty and Kat were perfect. And I know that he falls for someone in the new book. And I just dont want that. Yes I want Frosty to be happy. But not so soon after the love of his life dies. So yeah, not gonna read it.

anyways- 4 stars

Alice Bell thinks that the slayers have finally one after the slayers found out about the healing fire, but they were wrong. In a matter of weeks Anima had killed four of her fellow slayer and injured many others. While looking for others she sees the witness that is like looking in a mirror. This witness gives her abilities beyond anyones' thinking processes. When the slayers are surrounded by zombies, Ali does the unthinkable..... She makes them float and then explode, including her fellow zombie slayers. There is one problem though.... She is having a hard time getting a grasp on what's going on. There are traitors in the team of slayers and Ali only has one option to save her friends and hunky boyfriend, Cole..... Surrender herself to Anima. Secrets and lies will be revealed to Ali along the way and many will die. Cole and Ali are getting more together, too! Who will die? Will Anima succeed in what they have planned?

This was a great book in all. I loved the romance and I did tear up at parts. This book is full of heartache.... and also HOPE!! This book was a great read with many twists and turns. It makes you want to help the slayers and be with them to rid the world of Anima. I was sitting on the edge of my chair while reading... Very suspenseful.! The only problem I had with this book was the fact that on the store, this was marked as teen read.... It is not. This is definitely Young Adult or older. Guardian discretion advised. There is vulgar language and sex-related themes. They do actually have sex, but it isn't very descriptive.

I had a big decision to make when I received this book. Did I want to stay up all night devouring every page as I usually do with Gena Showalter’s books or did I want to savor this one and take my time reading it?

I decided on the latter since this was the last book in the series. Let me tell you it took lots of discipline for me not to rush through the pages especially during certain scenes when I needed to know immediately if what I just read was right or if there was still some hope to cling to. Ah, HOPE you demon trickster!

Ali has survived the death of her parents and little sister, the destruction of her home, kidnapping, torture, and a break up with the smoldering Cole Holland. Evil Zombie Ai is gone for good and finally she’s getting a break. Her and Cole are back together and ready to take the next step in their relationship! YES! Everything is on the bright side of life where unicorns, hot springs and rainbows exist until Anima Industries launches an all out war on the slayers. This time Anima isn’t just looking to get Alison back in their clutches they want to wipe out every single slayer for good and they are willing to do anything including putting innocents at risk.

Ali and the rest of the slayers have to pull together to fight for their lives. This time they’ll need to join another group of slayers to win and the costs will be high for everyone. Hearts will be broken, lives lost and shocking secrets revealed.

I knew going into the book that there were going to be some punches to my gut but I was still unprepared for the heartbreak and death. Oh my, the lives lost. I can’t even get into it because I don’t want to spoil anything and I don’t want to cry AGAIN! I enjoyed the twists regarding the revelations of Alice’s past and the addition of River and his gang of slayers. More cute guys to drool over!

I was enchanted by the story. I was laughing one minute and crying the next. I have so much love for this series, every character, every scene, every bump, twist, heartbreak and bit of happiness. The ending was perfect and I was blubbering when a certain Witness appeared. Cue the boxes of Kleenex and sad music.

There are some characters I hope are revisited in future short stories or novellas. I would love to have some in-depth stories involving some of the other couples that came together in this book and please, PLEASE one day revisit our heartbroken boy (you know who I am talking about, won’t say names, spoilers). I really need to know that at some point he finds some peace, some calm, a way to smile and a way to move on happily. I don’t think I will feel completely at ease until I know he’s okay.

When it comes to creating characters that you would love to hang out with, characters you become so wrapped up with that you don’t ever want the series to end Gena Showalter is a writing genius. You hear that Gena? I’m declaring you a Genius! Also this Alabama native thanks you for making Birmingham the backdrop of such an amazing story.

With (at the time of my writing of this review) an 87% five star rating, I'm thinking you should probably just skip reading this here review and just dive right on in and get to the reading ;)

This book was a good third book in the series. All the old characters were mentioned or made star appearances in it so you got to reconnect with those from the second book (which I'm figuring was read, along with the first one, by now). The author easily kept the story flowing from the previous book so there were no strange time lapses were you felt lost trying to catch up or anything. The storyline itself was decent. For me, it went a little too... whacky perhaps? at times and I may have had a bit of a struggle to keep reading with the same interest as I had in the first book(which was my favorite in the series thus far). I don't want to give anything away, and I won't, but if you read this, I think you'll pick up on the parts I'm talking about though they very well may have the opposite effect on you. Although you will note I did type 'may have had'. By the time I got to this third book, the author had me hooked so I had to know what happened next. There was no way I was going to stop reading. It really wouldn't have mattered what happened! I was hooked two books ago!

All in all, I enjoyed this book as it was part of the series. At this time there are no others released but there will be another in the series (and perhaps more after that). I will have to know what happens next so I'll be following along and making sure I get my hands on any that follow!

The Queen of Zombie Hearts is by far the best book in the White Rabbit Chronicles trilogy. I enjoyed all three books, but this one kept me hooked from page one. Showalter does not disappoint, and this book is equal parts romance, action, and emotion. Action packed and full of adventure, this novel will keep you on the edge of your seat from the first page to the very last.

The cast of characters is amazing in this final installment. Ali has been a terrific and strong character since the first book, but she learns to embrace her emotions and herself more in this installment. She really grows as a character, and she makes some serious sacrifices. Ali is a great narrator and her perspective is fun to read from. Cole is as swoon-worthy as ever, and he also grows into a much more impressive character. I really like how he's willing to fight for Ali, no matter what. Nana is also a bright spot with her teen slang, and of course the phrase "douche-purse" made a few appearances, which added some humor to some serious and/or steamy situations. Kat is charming as usual, and the new characters that are introduced in this book are also well-developed and personable.

The plot is fast-paced and has more twists and turns that a rollercoaster. Some of the surprises I saw coming, but a lot of the things that happened actually shocked me. Showalter's writing is top-notch, and the world-building is well done. The romance between Ali and Cole is sweet with just the right amount of heat, and the friendships between characters is touching. I will admit that I cried toward the ending, and even though some parts are sad, I like that things aren't perfect for everyone. I hate convenient endings because life isn't always convenient or pretty. Things are complicated and messy, and the last chapters of this book really reflect that.

Overall, I'd recommend this book and series for people who are looking for something that is different from the normal zombie and/or teen paranormal romance fare. This trilogy has heart and a kick ass leading female, fantastic writing, and a captivating world. What more could a person ask for?

I’m a HUGE fan of this series… okay, let’s be real.. I AM THE #1 FAN OF THIS SERIES and the final book did not disappoint! It was loaded with suspense and some things happened that surprised me, but it was realistic. It bothers me when books make the main character indestructible. Yeah, Ali and the slayers are hardcore warriors, but they aren’t going to come out on top every time and this book balanced that very well. There were struggles and lives were lost. I was legit sweating at the end over how intense it got! I freaking cried, okay? Gena told an amazing story and I am extremely satisfied with the resolution! As always, there were some hilarious moments and nonstop banter between the characters! I could not put this book down.

PLEASE, for the LOVE of COLE HOLLAND… if you have not read Alice in Zombieland… DO IT!

Quick & Dirty: Amazing ending to one of my all time favorite series. There was action packed adventure, epic romance, and tons of great humor. This is a series I feel comfortable recommending to absolutely everyone!!!!

Opening Sentence: Are you ready for this?

The Review:

Ali Bell has had a rough year. She lost her entire family in a horrible accident, she had to move away to live with her grandparents, and she can now see zombies. But even with all the horrible things that have happened many wonderful things have as well. She made a wonderful group of new friends, learned how to fight and kill zombies, and she has managed to fall in love with Cole Holland, the gorgeous leader of the zombie slayers. So yes, the last year has been full of adventure, heartache, and love, but the worst is still yet to come.

Anima Industries is a human organization that has always had it out for the zombie slayers. They want to use the zombies to try and cheat death. Anima has never been friendly with the slayers, but they usually don’t try to harm them unless they get in their way, unfortunately that is all about to change. Anima launches a sneak attack against the slayers and winds up killing four of Ali’s slayer friends. With much at stake the slayers prepare for war and invite another local slayer group to join them in the fight.

Ali has always been special when it comes to fighting zombies. She was a natural at it and she also has special abilities that no other slayers possess. She soon discovers that she is capable of much more then she realized and the hope of the slayers may solely depend on her. But there are also secrets that surface about Ali’s past ones that could potentially tear her and Cole apart for good. In the final book of the White Rabbit chronicles Ali will have fight harder than ever before to protect those she loves and not everyone will survive.

I just adore everything about Ali! She was even more snarky then I remembered and her weird quirks made her so easy to love. She is just one of those characters you can’t help laughing at, but totally adore at the same time. Throughout her entire journey she has learned so much and watching her grow into the women she has become was a very entertaining and heartwarming experience. She has had to deal with so much loss in her life but she has never let that stop her from becoming what she was meant to be. She is an amazing heroine that I respected, loved, and wish I could meet in real life. She is one of those girls I wish I could be friends with because I know being friends with her would never be dull. So suffice to say, I just grew to love Ali even more in this book and I am sad to see her journey end.

I read a lot of books and there are tons of amazing swoon worthy book boys out there, but for me none of them hold a candle to Cole Holland. He is hands down my favorite book boyfriend ever and this book just sealed the deal for me. He is the same sexy, moody guy that I fell in love with in the first book, but I feel like his relationship with Ali has made him even more desirable. Sure he is still a cocky jerk at times, but he treats Ali like a queen. He worships her but he also pushes her to be better, stronger, and more confident in who she is. He can be so sweet at times that it just melts your heart, but he is also a dangerous fighter that makes you never want to be on his bad side. Cole is not a perfect person but I thought that even his flaws were sexy. He is the perfect bad boy and I don’t know if there will ever be another book boy who will capture my heart quite like he did.

The Queen of Zombie Hearts was the perfect ending to one of my all time favorite series. These books had everything I could ever want in a great young adult series. There was adventure, romance, humor, suspense, and a very unique plot. I have never been a huge fan of zombie books, but this series has totally changed my view on these creepy creatures. There is a huge cast of characters that I grew to love throughout the story and lucky for us there were some new ones introduced in the final book that you will love as well. I can honestly say there wasn’t a single character in this series that I didn’t completely and totally adore. Showalter’s writing is so amazing and seriously flawless. This series is the first one I have read by her but rest assured I will be buying anything this woman writes. While the ending of the book was bittersweet, I thought that it was done perfectly. I am sad to say goodbye to all these wonderful characters but I am also very excited to see what Showalter comes up with next. I would highly recommend this series to everyone, it is seriously that good!!!!

Notable Scene:

“Ali.” His voice, so husky and deep, was temptation and silk, stroking over me. “Did I ever tell you all the reasons I love you?”

“No.” I licked my lips and shook my head, gathering the courage to face him. His eyes were heavy-lidded, smoldering.

He liked the tattoo.
“Tell me now,” I commanded softly.

“I’ll tell you the top ten. One,” he said and kissed my forehead. “You are brutally honest. It’s such a rare and precious trait.”

Major points for my man: he’d led with personality rather than appearance.

“Two.” He kissed my eye. “You have the perfect sense of humor…perfect for me. It’s a little warped, and a lot twisted, and you can make me laugh when no one else can.”

I almost melted. Almost. I had to hear the rest. “Go on or I’ll hurt you.” Had I sounded as breathless to him as I had to myself?

He chuckled. “Three.” He kissed my other eye, gentle, so gentle. “You’re smart. I want to see your brain naked.”

Ha!

“Four. You are freaking hot.”

“Obviously.” And okay, yeah, he got points for that, too.

Maybe because I so very rarely felt hot. Or maybe because I so desperately wanted another kiss. A harder one. On my lips. With tongue and teeth. And roaming hands. Or maybe because I wanted him to want all of me.

“Five.” He kissed my cheek, and I moaned. More. “You are unbelievably kind.” He kissed my other cheek. “Six. You love with your whole heart, nothing held back.”

“Come on. Kiss me for real.” Did he want me to beg? Because I would…after I made him beg a little, too.

“Seven.” He pressed his lips against one side of my jaw, skipping my lips, dang him. “You are such a good fighter, I could stand back and watch you do all the hard work, and I wouldn’t feel like a wuss. I’d feel like a genius.”

“I’ll believe that when I see it.”

“Eight.” He kissed his way to the other side of my jaw. “The way you sometimes look at me… It’s as if I’m the sweetest dessert in the bakery and you are desperate for a bite.”

Yes, yes. A big, delicious bite. “At one time,” I said, the huskiness of my tone surprising me. I wrapped my arms around his neck. “That look of mine scared you.” With good reason. I’d been loaded with zombie toxin and had literally wanted to eat him. Well, not me but my zombie twin. Z.A.

“Nine,” he went on and nibbled on my ear. “You’re like the world’s most perfect drug. One hundred percent pure, guaranteed to addict after the first taste. I can’t imagine my life without you in it—don’t want to.”

My skin tingled, and my blood flashed white-hot. “Cole,” I said on another moan. I tangled my hands in his hair, angled his head, trying to take over. “Please. Stop talking, and start acting.”

“Ten,” he said and finally—blessedly—pressed his lips against mine. Only it was soft, far too soft. “You would die for me, the same way I would die for you.”

FTC Advisory: I purchased my own copy of The Queen of Zombie Hearts. No goody bags, sponsorships, “material connections,” or bribes were exchanged for my review.

What you're in for: Zombies. Ambush. Kick-ass heroin. Romance. Action. Death. Injuries. Emotional. Awesome secondary characters. Witty writing style. Surprises. Friendship. Memories. Revelations.

My Thoughts:
This book...this story...oh, Gena Showalter, how you destroyed me near the end! I am in love with this entire freaking series. I don't even know what to say right now, other than read it! There are so many great things about this story.

I love how developed even the secondary characters are. All the characters in this story have very defining characteristics. Seriously. And that's so rare in young adult novels. All too often, the main character isn't even developed as much as he/she should be. I love how Gena Showalter develops all of her characters so well and gives them all unique personalities.

Have I mentioned how much I love Gena Showalter's writing? (I think I may have in my reviews of the previous books in the series, but just in case I didn't...) Well, I do! I love the witty writing style that makes me laugh out loud. I love how her writing brings her characters to life and makes them so lovable (even though they have faults).

Now, even though I clearly love this series and loved this book so much, I'm only rating it 4.5. Why? Well, first of all, I found the ending to be a tad on the rushed side. I mean, what happens and then unhappens, I just think it was a bit too easy. It didn't seem realistic to me. I think if that played out in real life, it would have taken longer. It just all kind of happened all at once (almost). I know you don't know what I'm taking about unless you read it (and hopefully if you read it you DO know what I'm talking about), but I don't want to spoil anything so I'm not saying anything specific.

Also (and something else I can't elaborate on without ruining it), I found that a couple of things/situations didn't quite add up with spirits and physical things. I wish I could say specific circumstances that I'm referring to so that you could help me in case I missed something, but I'm simply not going to because I don't like spoiling!

Anyway, all in all, I loved this entire story from start to finish. :)

Well this is it the final book in the White Rabbit Chronicles and what an amazing journey the author has taken her readers on. If the idea of zombies in romance seems far fetched then be assured that with Ms Showalter at the helm anything is truly possible .
In this the last book everything has come well and truly to a head. It's a war that is spiralling out of control and Ali and the slayers are well and truly up against it. Time to make a stand and Anima industries are about to find out just what Ali is capable of. They may have caused her unmitigated pain and grief but Ali has grown up throughout this series and is not about to go quietly. There's a strength and power growing in Ali and she's finally learning to believe in herself but no man or woman is an island and Ali is no exception. Throughout these books Ali has been on a voyage of self discovery and finally we get answers ! Having Cole by her side takes this story up into the stratosphere but there is an awful lot to go through before Ali can finally take a well deserved bow!
This book is a fabulous ending to what has been such a unique series. It made me gasp , it left me shouting and it even caused me to question just how the author could ever give a happy ending . If you hanker for action then this book has it in spades but it's the twists and turns that blew this reader away! As for romance well suffice to say I'm very sure that many a reader would love a Cole of their own and a guilty pleasure is rereading some of his more memorable lines! The intensity of the relationship between them is a wonderful thing and it's almost as if they need each other just to breathe. Exciting, heart stopping , passionate romance and yet not erotica, this book may be aimed at Young Adults but it pulsates with a sensuous life of it's own that leaves this far older reader breathless.

This is one of the most enjoyable YA series I've ever read. The whole concept of mixing aspects of Alice in Wonderland and zombies is, in the words of Kat, cake. It’s something not done before, and I really appreciate that. Ali-gator and Cole are as steamy as ever, and actually, umm….consummate their relationship, which is great and shows a much more realistic picture of how a relationship between older teenagers actually is when compared to how a lot of other YA series would portray it.

The final showdown is more between the group and Anima, people vs. people instead of people vs. zombies. Some characters we have grown to love over this series don’t make it, which was totally heartbreaking; I think I ALMOST shed a tear. Our group (obviously) knows how to handle themselves and even through the horrible losses they suffer, they totally kick-ass. Cole is utterly romantic when he is helping Ali get through some rotten things that are done to her by the super bitch CEO of Anima, but not in a cheesy, stupid way; it’s in his super-sexy, alpha-male way…and of course it’s freaking hot!

I’m sure this will make me sound like a callous hag buuuuuuut Ali’s relationship with her “Nana” is freaking ANNOYING as all-get-out. Ali is a great, strong, female lead (love!) but when she starts talking to her grandmother it’s nothing but whining, non-stop whining. I.HATE.WHINING. I know everyone whines a little to their mothers or grandmothers, but if you are THE most super badass zombie killer in the whole freaking world, wouldn’t you be…I don’t know…a little less cry-baby bitchy? Especially after you find out said Nana had been keeping some pretty LARGE secrets from you? Hmmmmm?

I think this series was awesome. 5 stars for the conclusion of the trilogy. A+ for originality. A+ for super, sexy alpha male lead Cole (and bonus points for making him 18 so I don’t feel THAT pervy when I’m lusting after him) and a great, strong, female lead. Would love to see a spinoff that centers around Frosty (just a really awesome suggestion for you Ms. Showalter!)

I hate when my favorite book series end. Like, really really hate it. But when a series ends in such an amazing way, it makes the pain a little more bearable. The Queen of the Zombie Hearts is one of the those endings that gives me such closure and such an amazing feeling of hope.

Gena throws us into a full war within the first few chapters. Anima attacks, slayers are missing and some are dead. Things for Ali and Cole, along with the remaining slayers, are getting more dangerous every day. They don't know Anima's plans and they're trying to recover from previous attacks while simultaneously preparing for future ones.

Ali is one of my favorite YA heroines and Cole a favorite YA boyfriend. Not only are these two individuals amazing on their own, but they're relationship is so stinking cute and strong - and it should be given all they went through in Through the Zombieglass.

There are so many plot aspects that I wish I could talk about, but I want you to be as surprised by them as I was. However, I will tell you that if you are a fan of this series, you want to read this book sooner than later. If you haven't started The White Rabbit Chronicles yet, you best get on that.

Gena is an amazing author and the way she ties all the lose ends, even ones she has introduced in this novel is nothing short of masterful. Her writing keeps you engaged in the story and flying through pages. Normally I can get distracted by outside forces (TV, people yelling at football, etc.), but while reading The Queen of Zombie Hearts it all just fell away.

The White Rabbit Chrnociles has without a doubt earned a coveted spot on my "series I will fore sure re-read" list. With a white-hot romance, amazing characters (both main and supporting), gripping plots, and jaw dropping twists, these are books that need to visited again and again.

Just finished reading The Queen of Zombie Hearts and I have to say, i liked it.

In this third and final (spinoff?) book, Ali and the gang realized that their biggest problems aren't just the zombies but Anima, the agency that wants to control zombies for their own gain. For the final installment, we are introduced to several new characters: from River, the leader of a rival gang to Helen, a witness with a mysterious past. These characters add more depth to the trials of Ali and her friends, with Ali finally getting answers about her true past and her strengthening abilities.

There are many parts to this book - some silly posturing teen acts, some frightening life and death fight scenes and other tragically sad no-going-back endings. All in all, I think Gena Showalter was able to create a believable world of teenagers fighting the good fight versus zombies; where friends and family are treasured and where every moment counts. She built a world where relationships drive actions, both in the good guys and in the not so good guys.

So if you're expecting to know how zombies began or why there are witnesses/spirits or have your deep philosophical life questions answered, you won't get them here. And while there were some parts that I felt were a bit corny and a part of me still thinks that the characters were made too young (I guess age can only be a number ), I still think this is a fun, adrenaline kicking book for its target audience.

In a way, reading this is a reminder that while the future is uncertain, it's never too late to tell a person how much they are loved and appreciated. At least that's the moral of this series for me. Read the books and find out for yourself. You won't regret it - It's a cool one.

Why you should read it: If you haven't read Alice in Zombieland already, I recommend starting it. Gena Showalter has added some really unique ideas to the zombie genre. I also liked the loose connection to Alice in Wonderland. This is the series finale and without posting spoilers … it was pretty epic! All the loose ends were tied up, and Ali and Cole had to fight through zombies, tears and sadness to earn their right to live and love. Gena also shocks readers (and me) with a few things, but I liked the way the book went. I especially liked the addition of River and his slayers, the secondary characters were one of the strongest parts of this series, and I really liked River. This is my favorite installment in the entire series. Readers and Ali get to see more of her family's history, and it's a doozy. I will say that some readers are going to hate how parts played out. It was bittersweet, but it worked.

Wow what an amazing book. Definitely finished with a huge bang. This last book in the series for now, has left my heart broken. Could not ever imagine losing your best friend and having her turn into a zombie. I was very happy that Ali was so strong and was able to give in to such evil people. Stopping them at any cause was the best thing that they could have done. Ali is such a strong women and love that this book portrays women as being the strong one. She was able to save most of her friends. My heart stopped when the zombies exploded the house and Ali was trying to find her friends. Could not imagine being in her place. I was happy about the way the book ended. Ali got her memory back and was able to blank Mrs. Smith memory. It has such an amazing turning point that Ali's parents weren't who she really thought and she was the cure to all problems with the Zombies. It should feel great that now no one has to use the zombie toxin in order to survive. Now the zombies would be at peace after all. Hoping there will be another book to this amazing series.

What a great series! I loved how kick ass Ali was, she never was one to shield away from a fight, she is always thinking about the well being of others over herself. She ends ups with these amazing abilities and she just keeps getting more and more awesome as a character and fighter!

Even being a ya genre it is still pretty steamy, things don't go into detail, but things told out right. Ali and Cole are perfect for each other, but it does make for great reading to keep them not so perfect and having to really fight for their relationship to work.

The ending to this series is both sweet and bitter, so many lost friends that made me tear up a bit. I was very sad to read of who had to die in this book, it didn't make me happy, but it sadly was part of the story.

Great read and awesome series! I sad to see it end and kinda hoping more spin off books will be written, but I don't see that happening! Sad to say goodbye to Ali, Cole and the gang.

I almost gave up on this book during the first chapter. I loved the first book in the series, the concept was incredibly fresh, Ali was snarky in the best way, the take on zombies so original. However, the beginning of this book tried so hard to be hip and in and cool, with throwing words around like totes and Cole calling her his ali kat, ali this, ali that, lovebug, liverwurst, I mean it really got old fast fast fast and the snark was trying to hard. Happily I persevered and after the first few chapters the book picked up and became the wonderfully amazing Zombie book like the first two.

Ali's dead sister Emily is still watching and helping, her grandma is in on it now, she is trying to get hot and bothered with Cole but zombies and villains keep interfering. The writing becomes tight and riveting, the world built in this series is so good. There is sadness, hard choices, and their is definite payoff once the first chapter is over.

What can I say other than, this book was totally CAKE! Ha-ha
Every girl NEEDS a friend like Kat. No joke, that girl is the light in the darkness.
Ali and Cole have a whole new set of problems with Anima Industries, AKA the duche-purse bad guys. Slayers/friends are missing, some are murdered, zombies walking in the daylight...WHAT?! Yup you read that right. Zombies walking in the daylight with collars so you know Anima is behind this. They always are. More abilities are coming to Ali and more problems that could breakup her relationship with Cole. So much happens, the end is near. You cannot -not read this book. Gena has a very addicting personality and I love how it shows up in all her work. Woo before I forget, you have to get the Barnes & Noble book it has extra bonus material & deleted scenes. Super juicy stuff that us die-hard fans NEED!

The Queen of Zombie Hearts brings an end to Gena Showalter's The White Rabbit Chronicles and it was freaking cake! Yeah, you'll have to read the book to get the definition of that word! Needless to say, it's truly a remarkable and memorable read!! I've loved this series from the getgo, I mean how you can you not love after meeting Cole? He's freaking Cole!!! And Ali is just amazing as well! I've loved watching her character grow from ordinary teen who loses family to total badass zombie slayer!

We kind of pickup where we left off. Slayers are missing, and Ali and her friends are ready to bring down Anima once and for all, but it's not going to be easy. There will be losses, betrayals, shocking secrets revealed and more! If you thought the past books have been epic, you're going to be blown away with the finale!

Ali and the slayers team up with another group of slayers led by River. He was yet another delight! I seriously love these groups of slayers. Both Cole's and River's! If I can't have Cole, can I please have one of these other guys?! Seriously, I love them all! Even if we only get a few interactions with them, you can see that despite being total badass zombie killers, they're also incredible guys as well. Seriously, I want one!

These characters are beyond a doubt my favorite part of the series! Cole...need I say more?! This boy will be the death of me. And I'm way too old for him too! Kat is forever the best friend in the world! I love her spunky personality and her sass. She never lets life get her down especially with her condition. She lives it to the fullest. And my word, that girl has attitude with a capital A! She's amazeballs! And Ali's granmother! I adore that little old lady! Her way of trying to be "hip" and relate to teens by speaking like them is just too funny! I always crack up when she's getting the "down low" from Ali!

The ending of the story doesn't come without heartache and more surprises, but it was done very well! I found I wasn't a sobbing mess, but there were some sniffles! I feel content and happy with where our characters are. Sure, I am sadden by some and curious as to what a few of our other possible couples are at with things, but in the grand scheme of it all, I am happy! Plus the epilogue of Cole's letter to the reader was enjoyable as well! I loved this tiny little insight into his head! And it's definitely an epilogue, just so you know! It was simply perfect!

The Queen of Zombie Hearts is incredibly awesome and totally amazing! The ENTIRE trilogy is freaking astounding, people!! Never has a trilogy so totally blown me away with its high action, suspenseful storytelling and swoonworthy romance! Yes, swoonworthy! I've become a total romantic at heart over the years! When did that happen?! Seriously, I can't pin down the book that totally thawed what I thought was an icy heart towards romance! LOL!

If you're looking for a perfectly fabulous read filled with romance, action, suspense, secrets, laughs and yes, ZOMBIES, then you simply have to read the White Rabbit Chronicles asap! It's not a trilogy to be missed!

Book three of Showalter's White Rabbit Chronicles finds Ali and Cole progressing towards a physical relationship while managing to kill zombies. Armed with a team of zombie fighters, Ali and Cole must put their intimacy on hold (constantly) in order to survive and keep the group safe. Research company, Anima, sets out to destroy Ali and Cole, and Ali must find a way to keep everyone safe and alive, especially Cole. . Just when you think Ali and Cole can finally be together, Showalter finds a way to lighten the moment and leave the reader frantically turning the page. The end to the trilogy is fast-paced and satisfying, juxtaposing Showalter's flair for the extraordinarily ordinary life of a teen zombie hunter. Reviewscomingatya.blogspot.com.

*Do not read if you haven't read the previous book*

The zombies aren't the real monsters in this story. They are infected creatures and can not help but attack humans. It's no fun of course, but that is just the way it is. Anima on the other hand are the real monsters here. Humans who decide to use zombies for their own personal gain and be damned the ones who stand in their way. Killing people is no hardship for them, all for their search for immortality, which we all know is just about money. They are cruel and immoral on so many levels. Seriously this guys suck ass, big time.

All Alice and her friends want to do is destroy zombie, before they can hurt somebody. Since Anima is all about capturing zombies for testing and using them as soldiers, they're on opposite teams. Oh and also the fact of course that Anima has a tendency for torture and killing. Though nobody expected them to go so far and while it used to be a couple of fights here and there, it is now full on war.

Anima wants Alice because of her special abilities. Killing her friends and those continues attacks are starting to wear them down. They need to find a way to bring Anima down, so unlikely alliances are made and big trust issues need to be overcome. Alice, Cole and all the others will not go down without a fight.

A very exciting closure of this series. I really like this unusual look at zombies and how Gena Showalter made it all work. Also that turn of zombies no longer being the biggest threat, but humans are, was an unexpected turn I liked. Besides all the fighting, there is of course the romance part as well. Things are good between Alice and Cole, though it's definitely not easy and plenty of challenges are thrown their way. Like she couldn't do without all the drama while their lives are in danger. It does put things in perspective and make you realize what is important in life.

It completely sucks that people have to die in this one and I wasn't really happy with it, but I can understand that it would be too miraculous if they all survived. Still there is one dead person I didn't see coming and I can not believe Gena Showalter went there. It broke my heart. Luckily there is also always that humor that adds those lighter moments and keeps me from breaking down. I am happy with the ending. It's not that all is resolved, but there are plenty of possibilities for Alice and her friends.

i think more like 2.5 stars but okay, I will go with 3. The second book was so engaging, this one felt more uneven. Really need a better editor to work on the teen speak and love scenes. Some of those were quite painful to read. The story itself is interesting as we speed our way to the conclusion. Who exactly is Ali Bell? Why does she have all these slayer powers? And why does Anima have such an interest in her All these are answered, and while the answers were satisfying and made for a fun read, the writing was again uneven and really in need of a good editor.

In the end, story was fun and engaging. Writing needed at least one more pass thru with a strong editor. Worth the read and a satisfying conclusion to the series.

I really enjoyed the White Rabbit Chronicles by Gena Showalter. One thing I loved about it is that she gives God credit in each of the books and shows how light overcomes darkness. Showalter's writing is fantastic - she knows how to keep it fast-faced so that her readers are turning page after page.

The Queen of Zombie Hearts is the the third and final book in the series and it brings great closure to the story. It's true to life in that not every character gets a happy ending, but she bring it to a satisfying conclusion overall and leaves the reader feeling hope. This was the first I'd ever read anything by Showalter and I am really glad I picked this series up!

What a fantastic ending to this series, other than the fact that I didn't want this series to end. I've been entranced with these characters so deeply since book one, that it was very bittersweet to say goodbye. In fact, I can definitely see these books being re-read in the future. New twists and shocks are thrown at us in this installment and new abilities for not only Ali but the rest of the crew as well. Alliances are formed, betrayals are made, and sadness is inescapable. It was fast paced, exciting, heart wrenching and everything I've come to love from this series. A must read for fans of the series, zombie lovers, and fans of Ms. Showalter alike!

This review is for the whole trilogy. This was one of the most wonderful stories I've ever read. Although, it did leave a few things unanswered and a vision never came true. Plus, it just had a petered out ending like "Lost". Lol. I did however fall for Cole. My new BBF. And even Gavin the He-Slut. The characters make you feel for them. There's a real connection, so when something happens to one of them, you feel it. That's a good writer who makes you care. The new mythos is so creative also. The Zombies want sprit not flesh. That very original. I recommend this trilogy. Just be ready to create your own ending. Lol.

I love this author but thought this series wasn't for me, an older adult, so didn't read only because of the label applied to it, but a trip and no book at hand except for my ebooks and there it was. So I read and LOVED and immediately downloaded the next two and consumed them. I loved everything about these books. The characters, the friendship, the plot, the tension, the adventure, the love were so strong that I was feeling everything that happen right along with the characters. Thank you Ms. Showalter for you talent and your faith. You are CAKE!!!

Explosive, breathless, nonstop, sizzling ...... I can keep listing adjectives but it still won't be able to explain just how much of a supernova this book is or how much I loved every bit of it. A year ago I would have called this a heart stopping finale ...... In a way it is but now it is not the series finale because there is one more book that comes after it. But back on topic ...... if it was possible, Queen of Zombie Hearts was even more phenomenal than its predecessors.

Riveting. Not one breathing space. Not one moment to spare. Explosive and emotionally charged till the end. This is the fight they had been yearning for. Pitted against Anima Industries, this is not a battle to be easily won. Casualties are many and dire. Some not easily forgotten with heartbreaking losses. But the slayers stand tall against their sworn enemy and not backing out till the end.

Ali had had a rough year. She lost her family, came to live with her grandparents and is now able to see zombies. Not to be deterred, she has friends now, learned to fight the Z's and fell in love with boss-man bad-boy Cole Holland, who is just too sexy, hot and adorable to compare. Love and heartbreak, adventures and excitement, her life had been full of them but she doesn't let the bad ones consume her but learn from them and come out better...... I liked that she was extra snarky here and her quirks make her even more adorable. Cole practically worships the grounds she walks on. They both had a lot of growing up to do but we definitely like the place their relationship has reached. My favorite bookish couple by all means.

Gena Showalter just keeps hitting us with everything here. Surprise revelations. New powers. New characters. Heartbreaking, heart racing and heart-stopping moments aplenty. Loose ends tied and jaw-dropping questions are answered. Definitely the best book of the series with the author pulling in all the stops imaginable. An absolutely phenomenal roller coaster ride of a book that will have us coming back for more. Truly sensational.

I've never read a greater book series in my life! And I have to say, the third book was the best! If you like books with zombies, romance, betrayals, and emotional moments, both happy and sad: This is the book for you.

P.S: Read the first two before this one. Alice In Zombie Land and Through The Zombie Glass. Can't read a trilogy without reading the first two books!

Another P.S: Pretty sure it's a trilogy, I don't know. Hope there's a forth book! Probably not. A girl can dream, though.

I love this book series. I can't wait for to read the fourth book. I feel bad for frosty and I wish what happened to Kat didn't happen there was no point in that. I am so glad Ali got her memories back even though it was kind of easy on how she got the back. The letters from Ali and Cole at the back of the book are really funny.

Amazing! An epic conclusion to one of the best YA series I've ever read. I don't even know where to begin. I laughed, I swooned, I got goose bumps . . . I fought the tears as I gripped the edge of the pages in my fists. There's so much emotion, twists, turns, and loops that I was on a white-knuckled roller coaster ride the entire time! I found myself second guessing things I thought I knew and blindsided by those I should have seen coming! It felt like I'd been punched in the gut and crumbled over. Secretly, I wanted to throttle a few characters as I thought, 'Oh no, you did not just do that!" (Yeah, Veronica, I still have your number.)

And then of course, there's Cole--powerful, strong, dangerous, and super hot to boot. A man brought to his knees by one female. Ugh. The chemistry. So. Intense.

However, nothing is ever as it seems. I don't want to post too much without giving away any spoilers, but if you haven't read this series, start now. If you are waiting for this third installment to The White Rabbit Chronicles, you are in for a real treat because Ali-gator is wickedly awesome and totally puts Zombie Alice to shame. As if she hadn't already! ;)

Showalter has thrown off the gloves and truly delivered a fantastic and compelling story. Mix in her amazing writing skills and fabulous imagination . . . well, let's just say . . . I loved it!

So sad it's over. There has got to be more coming though, PLEASE?!?! Ali and Cole are cake, but what about Frosty? What about Reeve? There's more stories here. So back to this story... Ali may have all the abilities to make a kick-ass slayer, but Cole stole the show here. His love for Ali conquered all. He never gave up and brought her back from nothing. Wonderful love story for not only YA, but us older peeps too. I'm definately not YA and I love this series!

This book truly melted my heart and I'm at odds on how to feel. I'm so happy with the final elements and how everything came together but I'm also very emotional. I'm sad and tears have stained my cheeks for a few days. My heart aches for Ali, frosty, Cole etc. All those who lost so many. This book piled on the love and tragedy in equal amounts.
