Patricia Briggs is one of my favorite authors! Her characters are believable, and there is character growth throughout the series. I wait patiently every year for a new book. You will not be disappointed!

I absolutely LOVE author Patricia Briggs! I do wish that I had discovered this series before the Mercy Tompson one. BUT, I still LOVED this story! I was always intrigued by Charles and now we get to learn more about him.

You will love this book and I highly recommend it!

Good start to the Alpha and Omega series of books. I'm glad I read the prequel before this novel, it gives more insight into how Anna became a wolf and how she was hurt by her first pack.
Cry Wolf explores Anna and Charles' relationship. This is not a "she falls in love and all her past hurts are forgotten" type of book. Anna particularly has problems that anyone with a traumatic past would have with new intimacy, especially since it is their Wolves who have chosen each other before their human sides even really got acquainted, though their human selves like each other too.
I really enjoy that Briggs creates strong female characters, and all the characters, male and female have personality quirks that make them "real"

I loved it, just loved it. Honestly, anything that this woman writes is excellent. Her characters are always well-developed and the worlds that she creates for them are incredibly realistic. You could "see" her action. Anna is a strong heroine, which is not surprising coming from Briggs, and she is a personable one. The love story is a light, yet sweet, one and it sneaks up on you through the pages. You will enjoy this if you like love stories or are a fan of the Mercy Thompson series (and if you haven't read them, stop reading this and go buy them NOW).

I absolutely loved this book. I loved how it brought Mercy into the book and gave you more insight on the Marrok. They way Mrs. Briggs writes has a way of making you fall in love with the characters and you just cant stop reading. I love that you have a better understanding of why Asil is the way he is and the love between Charles and Anna just makes it even better. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

I love the Alpha and Omega series by Patricia Briggs. I was excited to see that Cry Wolf and the short Alpha and Omega story of how Charles and Anna met. I bought two copies, 1 for me and 1 for my sister (another Patricia Briggs fan).
I have read Cry Wolf at least twice and will read it again. Any paranormal lover should love the spark between Charles and Anna.
I would and do recommend Cry Wolf and all Patricia Briggs books to every one.

I think this book deserves five stars because I love fantasy and werewolves. Werewolves are awesome! The way they were mixed with other supernaturals was super fantastic. I loved how the werewolves were in a way a perfect balance of human and man. I loved the idea of an Omega. Asil's backstory was sad but necessary. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves young adult fantasy especially magic and werewolves. Keep on writing great books!

In reading other books by Patricia Briggs, I've noticed that one of her great strengths is that she pays attention to each book's supporting characters. Most of the supporting characters are so well written that it seems that they could easily carry their own novel.

Cry Wolf goes a long way towards proving that point. Charles and Bran were minor supporting characters in the Mercy series. This book starts a new series which centers around Charles and concentrates on the werewolf society in general and the Montana group in particular. While I don't think it's necessary to read the story Alpha and Omega from the book On the Prowl, I do think it adds to the story to have read the first few Mercy books first. Cry Wolf really builds on those books, often by bringing minor events to attention. For instance, there was a mention in one of the books (I believe it was Moon Called) that Bran killed his friend. That was expanded on in this book.

Reading Cry Wolf on its own, away from all the other books, it still succeeds a the start of a new series. I liked Anna's character - she's definitely got issues, but she's starting to work through them. I think she and Charles make a great couple and I look forward to the next book in the series.

I really enjoy the Mercy Thompson series. It's not my favorite (that would be Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, Book 1) Kate Daniel's series) but it's right up there. I was intrigued by the short story I read in On the Prowl and immediately purchased CRY WOLF to follow it up.

Anna is a very interesting character with a lot of opportunity for growth. She's been beaten but she's not completely broken. She yearns for something more - and she really elicits sympathy from the viewer in the early part of the book. Charles is more of a lone wolf. He has iron control over everything - making you want to see him lose it a little with Anna. Together these two souls that are tarnished get some polishing.

The plot here is great - steady pacing helps keep you turning the pages. It is very helpful to have read at least 1 book in the Mercy Thompson series before this one as you'll need the background on the characters and settings. The mountain scenes are vividly described - if you've ever been in the mountains when it's snowing you'll know exactly what Ms. Briggs refers to with the idea that it has a life of its own - and it is not always welcoming or hospitable to humans. The dual nature of the werewolf really gets fleshed out here - at one with both wilderness and the city.

Asil and Bran were a surprise for me and I'm hoping that we will see more of their story in future books.

I laughed, I gasped, I loved this book. I hope you will as well!

I stumbled across her Alpha & Omega Novella first, a companion and introduction to this series, when it was included in a book called, I believe, On the Prowl? It was love at first sight. I only knew Mercy and Adam and their world, plus Bran, the Alpha of all of the weres, and knew that his son, Charles, was his hitman. (Not exactly a romantic leading man huh?) But when Charles meets Anna, he realizes what she is, and saves her after three years of brutality by killing the Alpha who had her trapped...well, Charles became my new hero. And learning that Anna is a very rare Omega wolf, and when she's safe from harm and calm, she can calm and soothe any troubled wolf she meets. And meeting Charles was the beginning of yet another of Patricia Briggs' amazing paranormal romance series. If you love Mercy and Adam, you have to try this one as well. I have them all in hardcover, and now I am adding my favorites to my Kindle. Rereading them is such a pleasure! Here's hoping you try them yourself and see if you agree.

Previous reviewers gave excellent recaps of the story, so I'll keep this short and sweet:

If you like the Mercedes Thompson series as much as I do this is a great read. Cry Wolf offers more insight into Bran (Alpha of the American Alphas), his enforcer/son Charles, and a new character, the Omega Anna. I didn't read On The Prowl first, but I'd recommend it. Ms. Brigg's short story describes how and why Charles met Anna, which helps the reader fall right into the story in Cry Wolf.

I can't wait for the next installment!

I always enjoy a Patricia Briggs novel, but I particularly like the Alpha and Omega series about the characters Charles and Anna. Ms. Briggs' addition of the Omega wolves to the werewolf myths I find intriguing as well as her complex character development among a convoluted plot involving fantasy stories I remember from my youth.

Her focus is on a well written story and interesting characters who struggle to find their place in their world, and one in which I enjoy visiting.

Thank you, Ms. Briggs! Kudos for a job well done! I anxiously await your next endeavor!

I wish someone had given me this advice. This book was good don't get me wrong but I spent 50% of the book confused because they were referencing something from the prequel... I found myself constantly double checking this was book 1... Now that I've finished it I can tell you I will continue reading it

Great new series by Patricia Briggs! I loved seeing more of the Cornik's from her other series, Mercy Thompson. Readers are thrown head first into the story, however and I think readers will benifit greatly from reading the anthology, On The Prowl, as it contains the beginning to this series. I read it after reading the first two Alpha and Omega books and wish someone had told me!

I highly recommend Patricia Briggs other series, Mercy Thompson. You'll get to see more of the Cornick's world.

Patricia Biggs is a very good writer, and the characters and plot os very Well written.

However, I Found ot a bit slow and would have loved if the Bond between Charles and Anna had happened earlier in the book.

I'm not gonna Continue with this series.

An absolute wonderful book that kicks off immediately after the mini in On the Prowl. The Alpha/Omega subseries is my favorite in the Mercy Thompson universe, and this book is no exception! Well done! If you haven't bought this book yet, what is keeping you?! Go buy and read it! Give a copy to all your family! Friends! Weird neighbors!

This book is just amazing, I read the short novel first (which I truly believe everybody should read before starting with 'Cry Wolf') and I was very eager to read more about this couple. This story is awesome and I can't wait to read the rest of the series. I've had a secret crush on Charles ever since 'Moon Called' *sigh* so I can't be happier with the excellent mate he's got. Highly recommended.

Charles and Anna are part of the Mercy Thompson universe, and theirs is a compelling story. Tough, scary werewolf enforcer Charles and his Brother Wolf learn about their mate, Anna, and what her Omega status means. With her, he finds a measure of peace and happiness, and with him, she learns of love, courage, and belonging. An excellent book.

This was a great new storyline from Patricia Briggs set in the same world as her Mercy Thompson series. It was a nice touch to see featured some of the secondary characters from the Mercy Thompson novels and to learn more about the Marok and his motivations. I hope he gets his own book soon. The only jarring note was the beginning. If you have not read the prior short story published in an anthology, you would have a hard time understanding what had taken place before the start of this book. I do not like anthologies and did not feel like spending the money to pick up the book so I had to piece together what happened and still don't know the details. It would have been nice if the short story had been included in this novel. I can only surmise greed on the part of the publisher for this omission. That being said, I hope Briggs writes as second novel featuring these characters so we can see their relationships further develop.

Great books stemming from the Mercy Thompson book series. Very good spin off from the original story. The characters and plot are strong enought to hold up in a series all of their own. This series adds an interesting angle to the story since it's pretty much told from the eyes of the Omega wolf. You will not be dissappointed!

The first full novel in the Alpha and Omega series is a literary masterpiece. This is a creative triumph, which the author should certainly be proud of creating. A very human and genuinely unique character, who is both a woman and a werewolf. Certainly one of the most memorable characters in any series.

If you love werewolves this is the read for you. Charles and Anna brave the dark arts and love conquers all! Great job Patricia!Yet again you have taken this genre and made it you own. You make fantasy believable with strong characters combined with tender emotions. And just enough bad guys to make it a wild ride. Can't wait to see what you come up with next!

Anna is a werewolf, more specifically, she is an Omega werewolf. She was rescued by Charles, the assassin for his father, who is the head werewolf of the North America werewolves. She is brought from her home in Chicago to the mountains of Colorado to her new home.

Everyone should take note that this edition is a "graphic novel" (comic book in hardcover) If that is what you are looking for then this is a very nice book. Was not what I had in mind. That is my only complaint, but a lovely book.

Okay note to self, buy every last one of Patricia Briggs books and read. Them til' I can't read them no more. Oh my God this book was good. And the cliffhanger will leave me begging to read her next book. Not the type to give spoilers I will say this though you will have to read this book to find out what the excitement is about though ;-).

Patricia Briggs is one of my favorite authors. I read and reread all her wolf books..can't wait for the next one. Loved the dragon ones too and thought the Hobbs Bargain was very good. They are good clean fabulous stories with great plots and at the same time so down to earth. Great job! Well done.

Good opening book for the series. I expect it will continue to get even better. I enjoyed it as much as the Mercy books. There are some carry-over in characters so you might want to read these books in the order written (meaning the books in both series).

This edition has both the "Alpha and Omega" short story that started the series as well as the first novel "Cry Wolf." Unlike most books that put other stories at the end as a bonus, Cry Wolf starts with the short story and then continues with the novel making this one large book instead of two separate ones.

This is an excellent series and even though it takes place in the same universe as the Mercy Thompson series and characters from that series make appearances in both. Bran takes a unique position in being an active character in both. I actually prefer Alpha and Omega instead of Mercy Thompson, even though they are both very good series.

OMG, great story about Charles and Anna. I should of read these before Mercy or in-between because I can see where they intertwine at times.

Cannot wait to see what else is in store for these two.

I love all of Patricia Briggs books. The are clever, have good character development, and entertaining. I love Fantasy - it is a great way to escape for a couple of hours and reading this book allowed me to visit a different world for a time.

As with the book, this graphic novel was short and sweet. However, it did not cover the already bland and barely there characters as much as the book and sadly, that says something.

My biggest problem was the art style. Everyone has their own but it looks like a drunk with no art experience in proportions tried to draw wolves and people. On top of having a serious discussion about a serious matter, and the characters have "cutesy" itty bitty eyes or a random how-can-anyone-stand-like-that pose.

Overall, the book was not worth the new price or the time spent reading it.

Cry Wolf continues the adventures of Charles and Anna and also introduces us to the world of Aspen Creek and its wonderful characters. I love these books...Ms Briggs' urban fantasy residents are quirky, deep, other-worldly and at the same time touch our hearts with their humanity. I will definitely be purchasing more.

Patricia Briggs has trapped me again. I may have to start sending her mail! I read all the Mercy Thompsons in 10 days, now I'll have to read all the Alpha/Omegas as fast as I can, AND THEN WHAT! It is wonderful to discover a new author who can touch you and entertain. Thank you Ms. Briggs but please, write faster?!

I am obsessed with the Mercy Thompson books! I saw that she had another series set in the same world as Mercy and had to read it. I enjoyed the book so much that I couldn't put it down and read through the night; however, as I settled down to re-read it (as I usually do if I've enjoyed it and read it really fast) I had a hard time swallowing it on a 2nd read. I won't rehash the plot like others already have, I'll just get to the point of what I wish I had known before hand.

Things that I really enjoyed and kept the pages flying:
1--Characters. I loved getting to know Charles, Anna, Bran, and more from the Marrok Pack.
2--Romance. It is HOT. Charles & Anna's wolves have already chosen each other, and now we get to see them get to know each other, to trust each other, and to love each other. Briggs walked the fine line of letting us in on their first night together with out it turning into porn.
3--Background. We learn about how Bran became a werewolf, his history, his reasoning for choosing a horrible mate like Leah.

Now for things that I wish were different:
1--"Cry Wolf" is missing the beginning of the story. I haven't read the short story in "On the Prowl" where Anna and Charles meet. I did read the first chapter off of Patricia Brigg's website, which helped me in understanding what was going on here. But, that short story should have been reprinted here at the beginning. It's frustrating that it's billed as the 1st in the series, and it is not so.
2--I was tired of reading of a woman abused. Maybe it's only because I just finished reading "Iron Kissed" where Mercy was raped. I know I'll sound hypocritical, but when I read "Iron Kissed," I applauded Briggs for not shying away from letting her heroine feel pain and loss, to show us that Mercy isn't all powerful. But here, it just seemed overkill that Anna had been abused by her former Alpha and all the males in that pack. Is rape the only thing Briggs knows to do to her heroines to show vulnerability? I sure hope not.
3--The book is written and flows like a Nicholas Sparks book--you know how he jumps from character to character always rehashing what happened from different points of view? First, we hear it from Anna. Then, we hear it from Charles. With all the jumping around, it's hardly a mystery of what's happening. This is a romance novel where a supernatural climax brings the couple together. I'm okay with the romance taking center stage, but I don't really care for Nicholas Sparks, and was disappointed when this book seemed to have been written by him with characters created by Briggs.
4--This book isn't a stand-alone book--it's a spin-off. And just like other spin-offs, it's best if you read the original so that you understand who all these characters are and enjoy the sly references to the original. I think that if I hadn't read the Mercy Thompson books first, I wouldn't really understand the werewolf culture. Even though Mercy isn't even a werewolf, we learn more about werewolf politics and protocol from her than we do from Anna who IS one and is LEARNING all this for the first time.

Even with the low rating I gave this book, I will continue to read this series as she puts it out. I recommend this book to others, but recommend that they 1st read "Moon Called (Mercy Thompson, Book 1)the first book in the Mercy Thompson series and the short story in On the Prowl before they start this book so that they can understand Anna's story.

Patricia Briggs is such a wonderful writer. I have read my paper pack so many times and now digital. It still doesn't get old. A great start into the Patricia Briggs world. If you love the Mercy Thompson series, you won't be disappointed with the Alpha and Omega series.

Really enjoying this series so far. I've heard some people find Anna boring, but I find her refreshing. I've gotten tired of so many urban fantasy heroines that snap out witty one-liners and bicker constantly with their love interests. Anna's quiet strength and past insecurity makes her memorable and likable to me.
