Sandra Edwards is a great author of my favorite type of romance...character driven. I feel that if I want a drama then I will buy a drama. When I want romance that is what I want, a romance! Character driven books will always be a staple for me. Don't miss out on this author. I'm going to buy her next book in the series after this review! Thanks Sandra Edwards for a great book.

I really tried to get into this book and actually made it halfway through the third chapter, but the writing is horrible! The characters are as phony as the plot is schmaltzy. I think that I could have forgiven the mythical plot if the composition had been better. It reads like an adolescent essay. I waisted my time.

This was definitely a fairytale romance novel. It's one of those things you read to get away from reality. I actually had a hard time putting it down and that's probably why I finished it in under 24 hours. I enjoyed the lightness of the novel and how it really didn't matter if all the details were in there about the proper process and procedures about getting married in France.
Looking forward to reading the next novel in the series.

Man underestimates the bargain he made at the beginning of his relationship. He makes up his mind about her but is proven wrong when he finds out later. I would not recommend this one and did not enjoy the read because it was too predictable.

Camille is described as a smart, principled young woman who loses her job at a tabloid magazine when she refuses to take advantage of Julian, a billionaire who's looking for an actress to pretend to be his wife for six months--long enough to get his dad off his back. Her boss wants an expose, but Camille doesn't feel right about it. After losing her job, she decides to take Julian up on his offer. After all, she has to pay the rent somehow. They travel to France to meet Julian's family, and despite a jealous, crazy ex, a suspicious father-in-law, a missing wedding gown, and secrets between the couple threaten to destroy the friendship they've built. As the two put on a grand show for the family, Julian and Camille keep having to remind themselves that it's just an act.
The premise is a simple one, and it's carried out in much the same way these romances are. I feel like I've read this story a few times before, and nothing really stands out to distinguish it from so many others written on the same premise. Camille doesn't seem to be very quick on the uptake at times, making it doubtful that she's as smart as the author claims her to be. Julian and Camille are separated by a ridiculous assumption that could have been resolved if they'd actually talked about it, but that's not what happens. Camille leaves and files for divorce, causing Julian to decide whether to sign the divorce papers or try to win back his wife.
There isn't anything inherently wrong with this story, but nothing's inherently right, either.

A French billionaire looking for an American actress.
There was no heat or chemistry jumping off the page in the beginning. But it got a bit better.
He says that he wants to try and seduce her, but then there isn't any real effort from his side. Money can't buy love.

Anytime the lead character gets in my nerves, it's a pretty good book. I can never figure out how its the man's fault if you aren't honest with him in the first place. Anyhow, I enjoyed this book and will look for other books by this author.

I enjoy the concept of the business arrangement that blossoms in to a romance and I really like the spunk Camille has despite being a fish out of water in the world of the very rich. It's a nice modern take on Cinderella and the prince with some interesting twists!

Lisa's review of
Marriage Bargin
by Sandra Edwards
I was given a copy of Marriage Bargain by Sandra Edwards in exchange for an honest review. Let me tell you wow. I started and finished this book in one hour. There could have been a natural disaster such as a hurricane or a tornado and the only thing besides my son that I would have made sure I had was my Kindle because I was not going to stop reading this FABULOUS story. What would you do if you find out that true love does exist even in the most bizzare of situations. The flow of the story was captivating and stimulating. Sandra had me screaming at the characters cause they couldn't see what we saw. Sandra reminded me that love is something to be treasured and held sacred. Don't let pride get in the way of you declaring your love to someone because you never know whet tomorrow will bring. We don't always get redo's in life and we need to grab onto love when it comes to us cause you may not get a second chance. Thank you do much Sandra for giving me such a touching and heartfelt story. I highly recommend you run out and get the Romance book of the year in my opinion.

Camille and Julian. These two come from two completely different backgrounds. The book went the way I expected it too, but I enjoyed it anyways! This book had a couple of steamy scenes, but overall was a good book!

I loved this book. Camille and Julian, both likeable characters. One looking for rental wife for six months. The other, after loosing her job because her ethics would not allow her to use Julian and his family, ends up loosing her job. Together, they form a marriage of convience that ends up being more marriage than convience.

Fantastic novel!
The Marriage Bargain has well developed characters and a flawless plot lines.
The two main characters are from different worlds but the reader can easily relate to both of them. The romantic love develops in time but the story has a wonderful pace.
One small note: At times some of the language used by the main character, an aristocratic Frenchmen seems too casual but as the character itself doesn't waver throughout the pages it is a small negative and doesn't detract from this sweet and compelling contemporary romance.

I have read every book Sandra Edwards has available and The Marriage Bargain is her best yet.
Camille Chandler is a tabloid journalist who's career is on the right track to success. That is until her boss shows her a curious ad: Wanted: Single actress for an extended gig abroad. She meets Julian de Laurent who tells her his need for a actress which she refuses and finds herself on the unemployment line. She then accepts Julian's proposal and finds that he isn't as volatile as she thought and finds herself helplessly in love with him.
Sandra Edwards' knows how to weave a story that quickly pulls you in and holds your attention till the very last page. I have said it before and I will say it again, I highly recommend Sandra Edwards to anyone who is looking for a author who pushes the envelope and takes a gamble with her stories cause you will not be disappointed.

This book was an enjoyable light read. One is absorbed into a romantic dream ,I think, of most woman in finding their ' Prince Charming'. It also differentiates between the liberties that a person with money can take to that of the less fortunate in life. It shows that love can conquer just about anything. Truely romantic.

Billionaire hiring a bride seems to be common theme lately. Most of the other authors attempting this story line seem to pull off the redundancy well. Not this time. There was a disconnect in the dialog and story line. It was as if the point got across but it was an unfinished thought. The few times her characters showed emotions they were stilted and did not seem to really fit in. I was hoping to stumble across a new series to enjoy, I guess I'll have to keep looking.

While I enjoyed reading this book. I can't honestly say that it is a literary masterpiece. It is predictable; but that is part of its charm. I had fun anticipating what would happen next. You can be sure I was right 100%, of the time! A good book for casual reading.

This book was sweet and just what you expect from a romance. Julian needs a wife but doesn't want his fathers pick so instead he hires a woman who he assumes is a actress for a six month marriage, they both have trust issues and carry baggage but they do find love.....as all true romances should end

This is as good book although, I wish there would have been a little more meat to it. I think if there were more scenes of them together alone in position that would have caused them to fall in love... or even just expanded on the scenes that were there a bit more this would have been a great a book. I did enjoy it but I think I could have enjoyed it more if there had been more to it.

This is the first book I read of Sandra Edwards. I am into happy endings and I love the way characters relate to each other. This book gave me that and I was happy I had read it. It also made me want to read more of her books. I have found her writing enjoyable and will continue to read her books.

I agree with my fellow commentators that this book read like the author had rushed to finish. These are the issues I had with this book. Julian de Laurent character needs to be developed more. It would have been better if (spoiler alert) Camille would have been pregnant after she had decided to divorce Julian. There should have been a longer period before the two reconnected. I would have liked Julian to have noticed that Camille was a virgin. Madeleine could have been more villainous.

This was a very good book with an interesting storyline.
The characters were well written and I enjoyed the secondary characters also.
I wish the author would have put more romance into the hero and heroines storyline, but overall it was a good book.

The author was very creative when she wrote this book because a ubber rich French guy posting an ad in the L.A Trades for a single actress for a gig abroad. Now I just don't see the probability happening in real life. When I rate books I take into consideration how probable something like this could happen in real life because it becomes easier to relate to.
What I loved:
I loved how Camille stood up to her boss when her boss wanted her to write the story on Julian.
Julian is just confident in his skin, which is very appealing for some one so rich!
Julian takes care of Camille and does his best to make her feel comfortable in an all together different environment.
I love how Camille just seemed so put together and is a confident young woman.
What I hated:
Seriously Camille has such a huge degree and many possibilities for her future and when things don't go as planned with Julian she resorts to becoming a waitress?
Julian is quite stubborn, he didn't give Camille the time of day to explain her situation with him.
I really thought there was going to be more interaction between Camille and the rest of the family, like Julian's father in particular and that was kind of nonexistent story there.
The book seemed to end quite abruptly when Julian chases after Camille to ask her to come home. One scene they are talking at Camille's work and the next thing I know is they are back in France and happily ever after. What happening in between the two locations?

I picked up The Marriage Bargain to read because I wanted something light and fun and maybe a little cheesy to read. This was light for sure, but it was a bit too annoying at times, everything was way too quick, it just didn't work overall for me. Not even for a cheesy read.
*some slight spoilers ahead*
Julian is a super rich French man in the states looking for an actress to play his wife for six months. His father wants him to marry this girl, Madeline, but he doesn't want to. Apparently the only way to not marry her is to marry someone else. The thing is they would really get married and the girl would act like his wife for six months and then they would divorce. He won't have to marry Madeline, and the girl will go away with $5 Million. Win win win.
Camille works for a tabloid in LA. She gets sent on assignment to see what Julian wants. As soon as Julian sees her he knows she is the one. He is attracted to her and wants her to play his wife. Camille originally refuses as she doesn't like to be deceitful, she won't marry him to gather dirt on him to write a story about him. When she tells her boss this she gets fired. So lo and behold she rethinks Julians proposition and agrees to marry him. As long as they marry right away in Vegas before they head over to France to meet the family.
Of course they both are super attracted to each other with means they are falling in love. Julian warns Camille that Madeline will not be happy that Camille is marrying him, that she might make stuff up and try and run her off, but she shouldn't listen to her. He is trying to protect Camille and he knows Madeline and his father will try to get rid of her. *slight spoiler ahead* So what does Madeline do as soon as they meet? Tell Camille how she might marry Julian, but she will be his mistress. And Camille believes her! She believes that Julian will be sleeping with Madeline while he is married to her. Why? I am not sure. It is obvious this is one of those things Julian warned her about, and why would he marry her if he is just going to be with Madeline? Why wouldn't he just marry Madeline and then divorce her when he gets tired of her or something if that is what he wanted? It made no sense. Things like that throughout the story just bugged me. So then Camille was a bit standoffish with Julian and when she catches Madeline in Julian's bed on their wedding day (while Julian was in the shower) she just believes everything Madeline says. It was just like come on. At least trust Julian to be more discreet if he were going to do something like that. It was just ridiculous and not in a way I like. Then when Julian finds out what Madeline has been saying and tells Camille oh don't be ridiculous, Madeline is just making that up to try and run you off Camille is just like oh! Of course. How silly of me. You are right. Okay so you have this whole drama llama deal with Madeline that just goes on and on and then is resolved in two sentences? Okay. Great.
Really the story overall didn't work for me. Everything happened so quickly. Julian and Camille apparently fall in love, and by fall in love I mean they are super attracted to each other and like having the sexy time. They really make this fake marriage work! Yey them. Only not really. All of the stupid drama was just annoying. There is drama thrown in at the end when Julian finds out what Camille does for a living, or did, but Camille refuses to explain anything, refuses to actually speak at all, so he has to assume that what he finds out is true. It was just stupid! It was like Camille why don't you just tell him what happened? Why do you refuse to say anything when he asks you? Why? You make no sense! There wouldn't be this drama if you just opened your mouth and spoke to Julian, but you don't cause you are an idiot. Frustrating and definitely not the book for me.
