Beth attending her best friend's wedding needed a date quick. She met a suspicious man, name Alex, breaking into her ex-boyfriend's car. In her desperation she asked the well dressed thief to act as her boyfriend charlie, who never did exist. Alex never corrected her thoughts of him as a thief, but she just gave him the greatest opportunity to get in on the inside, so he could complete his undercover work. And, of course, feelings get in the way.

I have a hard time believing that people actually pretend to be the girlfriend/boyfriend of another person. Yet there are a lot of these stories. Would a CIA operative really get caught burglarizing a car? Despite this, I like main characters and the way they meet. This book was entertaining despite it weak storyline and the weak attempt at mystery writing. The story did move along smoothly. However, it's not one I would read again. I do not like the cover. The main characters do not act as cheaply as the cover presents. I would not picture them looking like this. I wasn't satisfied with the Spencer closure. He should have been better put down.

First I LOVE THE COVER...well mostly the dress...Second I loved the plot. There's humour (lots of it) there's romance (lots of it), and there's suspense ( lots of it) At first I thought Beth was a wimp because she never fought back. Then I started reading and then my opinion of her changed. Then there's Alex...he's one of those guys who are protective without being controlling. He comes across as sweet and caring yet he's ALL MALE. I recommended this for a short light summer read. Nothing too intense here. Just a fun read. Even though I enjoyed this book, I do have a major complaint. I kept waiting for the ex boyfriend to get what was coming to him. He was horrible to Beth. I kept waiting for Beth to give him what he needed. (Or at least tell him off) But sadly it didn't happen. BUT IF THE AUTHOR WANTS TO WRITE AN EPILOGUE... My minor complaint is that it ended too abruptly. What is going to happen to Alex and Beth? Of course it is too early for the M word. As I said before...if the author wants to write an epilogue.... Four stars!!! ( minus a star for taking the Lord's name in vain once, and one f bomb. And for my two complaints.

I loved this book! It was somewhat different than your typical contemporary romance novels, which made it much more interesting for me. I also loved the main characters -- Beth and Alex -- especially Beth. She was smart, funny and honest (with Alex) and just a bit quirky. The things she said and did really made this a great read, which I highly recommend.

Fun read with passion and some dangerous moments.
But Beth is a funny woman who gets herself into trouble all the time, making up an imaginary boyfriend for her best friends wending. But than she blackmailed Alex into playing this boyfriend.
Than the fun begins and after she runs into something not for her eyes, her life is in danger and Alex is the one protecting her.
Great read.

Fast paced, romantic thriller/suspense, needed a better HEA, a better title and a better cover.
Beth is the MOH for her best friend and has made up a fake date who can't make it because he's out of town. We meet Alex/Charlie when Beth catches him going through cars in the parking lot working on a case. She needs a fake boyfriend, he needs a cover to infiltrate the wedding because the bride's uncle is shady.

I absolutely loved this book! I fell in love with Beth's character and she was quite entertaining! The CIA and investigation part of it also kept this book interesting. The concept of Charlie was hilarious to me! It brought me back to my junior high days when I had an imaginary boyfriend as well ! Worth the read! I wish there was more to Beth and Alex's story but that would just be ruining this story!

Sweet, easy read. The storyline is pretty predictable but enjoyable. It probably could have done with more character development, two day fall-in-love stories irritate me, but that's a personal thing.

The twist happens in the opening scenes. The heroine meets a handsome stranger in the hotel parking lot who agrees to be her date for a weekend wedding. But he is not who he appears to be, and she quickly loses her heart. Fast paced excitement.

Loved IT!! Action, Romance, and humor. This one has it all. Great read. Just long enough in my humble opinion. Characters are fun and I loved the interactions between them all. I will definitely be looking for more of Adrienne Bell's books to read. By the way, this would be a great read for on the beach----wish I had been able to read it there! That is the only thing that could have made it better.

Delightful characters, with real substance behind what could easily have been a cliché-driven story. Loved the male lead-- who wouldn't?-- and the female just gets better and better the more you get to watch her evolve. She has depth and caring beyond the expectations, and she makes the story work, If you like strong females (as opposed to the damsel in distress types) you will enjoy this story.

Quirky, funny, charming, spunky MC, that pretty much describes Beth. She gets herself into trouble often from what even she admits. She seems to usually come out well just the same and this time she has help. I really like how she kind of threw Charlie/Alex off balance time after time. I have to admit there were some funny conversations that took place; mainly coming from Beth's mouth.

I really enjoyed this story. She makes up Charlie and the random guy she's asks to cover for her ends up being someone very useful. I don't want to give to much away. But the story keeps you on your toes and your really liking Alex. Loved the story

I enjoyed the hero and heroine, the setting (a much more interesting wedding than any I've attended), and, most of all, the length. The author stuck to the action, keeping those pages turning until I reached the end. While she could easily have padded it out to 200 or 250 pages, I think the novel was much more enjoyable for its tightness and brevity.

This book was wonderful. Full of mystery and suspense. Danger to the fullest. I couldn't put it down. The characters have great chemistry. The story was so great because the two had to survive a mad man that was trying to kill her. I recommend you curl up with this book and find out all about it.

Of course the whole premise of this is completely unbelievable... but it somehow worked, in a strange and fun way. I think because it is really a light-hearted book and "Beth" was actually pretty funny. Would recommend for a quick non-serious read.

This book is jam-packed with amusing misconceptions, romance, action, and a heaping dose of danger. Nothing like a secret agent to add a little spice to the humdrum of everyday life! This was a free e-book that did not disappoint in the least.

My best description for this book is Jack Ryan meets Bridget Jones. This book is hilarious, and I loved both of the main characters. I was so engrossed that it only took me a day or two to read. I read it at the pool, and at times I felt ridiculous because I was laughing so hard that I was crying. I've told many of my friends to give this book a try.

This book was written well. Drama, romance, action, comedy... what more could you want. I loved the main characters, and the way the author switched between their perspectives. Beth was smart and didnt become a ditzy female when the action took place -- very refreshing. Alex was awesome. The ex-boyfriend was such a jerk - I know a few guys like him, sorry to say.
No grammatical errors - very nice! No having to look back to try and figure out which character was speaking - even better.
Overall, a great book that I would re-read. I also look forward to reading more of Bell's work.

I really enjoyed this one. The author showed a great sense of humor. Our heroine was allowed to grow and evolve during the course of the telling. The hero was a little flawed but not much. I loved the ending. It was a welcome surprise!

This book was great. Lots of action and drama. The main girl is so likeable- she's embarrassed over not having a date and uses a pretend boyfriend to cover, only to wind up in a mess of lies and funny or frustrating situations. Very fun premise. And best of all: no obviously bad editing.

Nice and sweet! Good for a quick relaxing read. The book was very predictable but well written and edited. I personally prefer more conflict in a book but would definitely read this authors book again when I am in the mood for an easy read. I chose 4 stars just because it was not a book that I could not put down but one that was easy to stop and come back to later. I like the way the author developed the plot and did not use a lot of words describing non essential details .

The numerous editing mistakes were very distracting and annoying. All too often a word was missing from a sentence.
The last quarter of the book was rushed and unrealistic. It was written for a young adolescent at best.
