The author apparently tried to make up for all of the news editors shortening his copy all the years he was a reporter because he continually used a chapter to explain what could be said in a paragraph. this book was more boring than many textbooks I've read.

pathetic writing by a pathetic author who should seek another trade. I couldn't finish it after getting halfway through. very poorly written, confusing descriptions of people and places. I am a WW11 buff and this is the worst I have ever found and I've had some truly bad experiences by well meaning amateurs that were far better.

After reading several other books about General George Patton I found this one to be the most enlightening and I think the truest. In comparing it to the latest book on killing Patton, I feel Mrs. Patton and the doctors involved were right and there was no great conspiracy involved, which certainly helped to sell the recent best seller.

I liked this more than the now formulaic O'Reilly/Dugard work. Read this one second. The title was amended for marketing purposes. It was written right after the war and brings this unique man alive and written by someone who had a front row seat and able to give insight I hadn't gotten elsewhere. The writing is uneven, ranging from good to not-so-good, and it doesn't seem to have come to market with benefit of any editing. But that's another thing I liked about it.

I have yet to read Reilly/Dugan "Killing Patton" which I first planned to read until his widow urged reading this original primary source first. I really enjoyed this. I remember sitting on my fathers knee each night to review the daily map in the newspaper, showing Patton's drive across Germany.
I read the Kindle Version using my Verizon Tablet, graphics (maps) are better than the Paperwhite reader but too small to read and they present sideways. Any effort to upright the map causes it to small size, gads. Wish for regular book!
At top of each Kindle reader page is a statement about not reading the Reilly book but text was cut off with 'con...' maybe says 'conspiracy' ?
