Great book and highly recommended to everyone who cares about this great country. Bill can't make his talking points any clearer. Stop the nonsense and start putting common sense back in its place. We need to retain and preserve faith and family values if we are going to survive. Thank God for people like Bill who expose and has the ability to put secular progessive thinkers in their place. If S P folks don't like our values please feel free to find another country and leave things the way our founding fathers intended them to be.

Culture Warrior is full of information about our culture and what is changing--stirring thoughts of how and why a society grows or diminishes--and making the reader see just where America stands. I think it's best read carefully and slowly--you don't want to miss anything.

Bill O'Reilly in his new Book Culture Warrior, set's out to show us that there is a culture war taking place in the USA, between Secularists and traditionalists and what it is leading our country. Anyone who knows History knows that this is true, the progressive movement in the USA got going strongly in the `1920's and has evolved since. Everyone should study the creation of the ACLU, and Planned Parenthood to get a good idea of what there agenda's really are. O'Reilly does a great job defining both sides in this Cultural war, and he names names. O'Reilly covers, the Major Media and Cable Media, the News Print Media, Hollywood, the Intellectual leaders and the Money men both behind and out front of the SP Movement. O'Reilly proves out his thesis with example after example, and he shows us just how serious this war is. I have the Unabridged CD version instead of a print book and I love it. It is read by he, Bill O'Reilly himself and it is in the style of his TV and Radio Shows. The Book also takes a Cue from the Art of War by Sue Tez and has much humor in it, lost of Pithily comments and some downright sarcastic ones that are very funny. So while we learn we are also entertained, but no good person will not be angered while reading parts of Culture Warrior, when you hear what the SP's want. There is also a great Chapter for us Traditionalists, and us having a code of conduct, we must learn to never stoop to the SP's low life ways. Your going to love the SP's 10 Commandments or be horrified; Bill backs it all up, proving this is what they believe. We get the Who, What, Where and Why of the SP's what they do, and where they want to take our country. Bill describes both Victory's over the Sp's and loses on the Traditionalists side. Bill also covers the Courts and centers on restorative Justice and what a Danger it is. This book is a must read and is essential to stopping our horrible slide to a secularists and socialists country. Read It (or Listen to it on CDs) and get active and save the USA.

I enjoyed this book emensly. Bills writing style is personal while being descriptive and informative at the same time. I particulaly enjoyed the narrartive and distictions between the conservatives, liberals, and the secular progressives. Very enjoyable and educational material. Excellent book.

I enjoyed reading Culture Warrior. In his latest book, Mr. O'Reilly really takes off the gloves. He provides his opinion of who the secular progressives are, what tactics they employ and what the SP's ultimately want to accomplish.

If you enjoy watching The Factor, or listening to Mr. O'Reilly's radio broadcasts, you'll love the book. If you're not an O'Reilly fan, Culture Warrior's probably not going to make your top ten list in '07.

If you're one of the few who are not familiar with Bill O'Reilly, if you are curious about the Culture War, or if you want a new, slightly different perspective on what's generally presented through the majority of media outlets, give it a read. You might find it interesting.

Once again, Bill O'Reilly proves he has his finger on the pulse of the secular/progressive movement in America. His insight is uncanny and his points are unarguable. His is a lone voice crying in the wilderness that America has become. This is a must-read for anyone concerned about the future of our great country.

I ordered this book with the intention of reading it after my wife had done so; we are both regular viewers of O'Reilly's TV program - No Spin Zone.

Then she lost the damn book and, unless she finds it, which is an unlikely event, I'll have to order another copy. Good for You - bad for Me. PLH

Mr Oreilly's insights are remarkable. His comments about S-Ps made me understand why our country has become so politically correct. Our children will be entering a complex, and competitive world. Yet, in many areas they are not allowed to keep score in athletic games because it might hurt their self esteem!! What a bunch of BS!

are teaching that there are no bad students.

Then are there good students?

Is there no right or wrong?

O'reilly is disliked by the far left because he generally is fair and balanced in his reporting and not on the fringe where he then could be legitimatly attacked.

But a fair man stands little chance of having the true haters give him a fair shake.

Firstly, I'm an Atheist and extremely liberal on numerous subjects, but I'm not a preacher in the hate machine, or a slanted wanker that writes bad reviews to punish people I dont like..., this is a really well done book...

This is the first book of his that I have read. Being of no particular political side I find it simply amazing that every old hippie I talk to says it's a horrible book, but cannot tell you one line from the book, nor the point, nor anything really... Free-thinking indeed, perhaps they mean "Free-of-thinking"...

A great book that really does have a lot to say about where we are headed, if your a left-leaning monkey, you'll hate it, because one of "your guys" didnt write it (get a life). Worth a read to anyone with gray matter...

Just finished the book, it was great. Sometimes I agree with Mr. O'Reily's viewpoints and sometimes I don't, however, in this case he is spot on. Culture Warrior will be number one on my Christmas gift giving list this year.

It is interesting that in the book, Bill O'Reilly predicted that the internet would be the first to pan his book.

Having read the reviews HERE (at the store) - it is interesting that he also accurately predicted that the panning would primarily be ad hominem, as is clearly evidenced here.

I don't agree with all of his points, his conclusions, his labels or his definitions.

However,

Mr. O'Reilly has established a reasoned argument for the current divide in America.

The book places into context why the divide exists and why it is important.

"Culture Warrior" examines the cause and affect of both what he calls 'secular-progressive' and 'traditionalist' agendas.

He identifies the people He sees as "major players" in both 'camps' and quotes his opposition liberally to establish his points.

This war has waged in America since before Darwin published 'Origin of the Species'. This is the first work seen that clearly defines both parties in non-religious, non-political terms.

It is not a Christian vs. Atheist OR Democrat vs. Republican OR Conservative vs. Liberal view - it is about presenting competing ideologies transparently.

While it is clearly a 'Call to Arms' for 'Traditionalists', the book also provides insight to the value of SOME 'secular-progressive' agendas.

It is obvious Mr. O'Reilly has a 'Traditionalist' agenda. Anyone that has listened to his radio program, watched his show, or read his works knows this.

It should be no surprise.

Does that change the fact that a lot of the information is valuable to the 'average' citizen - NO.

This is the first book of his read, so many of the comments of rehashed information are news to me.

The book is at times, a bit self aggrandizing.

Some of his detractors are to some extent correct. Mr. O'Reilly does see himself as THE Culture Warrior. Then again (having served in combat) there are times when one in conflict believes they are utterly alone, with no allies.

It doesn't seriously detract from the premises of the book, nor its readability.

Again, I don't agree with all his conclusions or even some of his definitions - but he has presented a very clear picture of the causes of the culture divide and its competing ideologies.

It does present pertinent, insightful information in a usable form...

The book defines our culture in an understandable way - that on rumination makes sense.

[This is my first book review]

While Bill admits this country has been and is noble and great, we are in many respects on the wrong path. I totally agree with him. I truly believe that if the secular-progressives gain more and more strength in this country we will lose are greatness. Aside from racial inequality the world war 2 generation IS the greatest generation. The exact opposite of that is Western Europe today. It is simple, if you love Western Europe's society today you will not like this book. The last chapter sums up this book very well.

After reading this book, I came away with another confirmation: Americans who have such disdain for Bill O'Reilly fall into one of two categories-- They either (A) have not read this book or listened to Mr. O'Reilly on a regular basis; or (B) are of the exact mindset that Mr. O'Reilly exposes. This book, like Bill O'Reilly, is eloquent, specific, and, at times, swaddled with humor. As an English teacher of a suburban American high school, I intend to use this book with my classes. As well as exposure to good writing, our kids need exposure to the truth.

Like most political books, most of these reviews aren't based on the book but rather their opinion of Bill O'Reilly. Let me try to give an honest review of a book over a decade old now. While there is a conservative bias to the book, it's a great read regardless of your political ideology. It can be appreciated by someone who is liberal or conservative as Bill O'Reilly does very little bashing in this book. He does target a few individuals but doesn't make anything personal. The message of this book still holds true to this day, nearly 15 years after he wrote it.

O'Reilly states in the introduction to this 2006 book, "war is exactly the right term. One one side of the battlefield are the armies of the traditionalists like me... On the other side are the committed forces of the secular progressive movement that want to change America dramatically: mold it in the image of Western Europe. Notice I did not say anything about 'conservatives against liberals.' This is not the real culture fight... it is much more complicated than that."

His style in writing is similar to the bombastic style he takes on air. He refers to Al Franken and Michael Savage (!) as "smear merchants" (Pg. 5), and later calls Franken "a loathsome individual" (pg. 96); he labels George Lakoff the "Yoda" of the secular-progressives, while Michael Moore is their "clown prince" (Pg. 156). Interestingly, he criticizes Michael Savage for "personal attacks and over-the-top rhetoric" (Pg. 181).

The book includes a chapter, "The Battle for Christmas," which notes that "many people were surprised when I said ... that politics, not religion, was the driving force behind the attempt to keep Christmas behind closed doors." (Pg. 80) He asserts that ACLU lawsuits, etc., "won in the public arena, even though it lost in court," as Christmas trees became "holiday trees," Christmas vacation became "winter vacation," and Christmas parades became "Festivals of Lights." (Pg. 77)

He takes some nontraditional conservative positions, such as allowing "children assigned to foster care to live in a gay home when no other alternative is available." (Pg. 178) He is also critical of the Bush administration for its "failure to secure the borders, its apathy toward alternative energy and other environmental concerns, its mistakes in the post-Saddam Iraq, and many other issues." (Pg. 62) He also states that "As a wealthy person, I believe I have a responsibility to pay more of my earnings in taxes than most other Americans pay, and also to give large amounts of money to charitable causes." (Pg. 203)

Reilly is understandably popular, and this book well-illustrates why. Even those of us who have disagreements with him can benefit from reading his books.

This book is meant for the average reader. I would put the writing level at about the same level as a newspaper. It is a social commentary from a conservative viewpoint.

The book is most interesting to me in the context of a time capsule. The book was written in 2006. The book is full of political commentary. Howard Dean is mentioned many times. The name Barack Obama does not appear in the book. By 2008 Barack Obama is elected president. Interesting... Thank You...

I removed a star because some of the material was rehashed from his show.

Bill O'Reilly covers so many areas in this book. Some chapters are brief while others merit more time in his eyes. The two groups that are against each other in the book are secular progressives and traditionalists. O' Reilly shows why the traditionalists are in for a battle. A UCLA media study in December 2005 concluded that "almost all major media outlets tilt to the left." The two mediums that tilted to the right were Brit Hume and The Washington Times. Traditionalists are Democrats and Republicans. O Reilly faults Republican talk show host that slam Liberals for being Liberal and not knowing their true beliefs. O' Reilly says do not label all Liberals as secular progressives because Senator Joe Lieberman (D-CT) and Senator Evan Bayh (D-IN). O Reilly spends plenty of time discussing the ACLU throughout the story. I did find it interesting that the founder Roger Baldwin said, "Communism is the goal." George Soros the money-man behind the scenes of the S-P movement also gets mentioned. O' Reilly also discusses Professor George Lakoff. O Reilly says the man is entertaining but his books follow the S-P book perfectly.

The second and third chapters discuss mainstream media, news anchors, Fox News, and talk radio. O'Reilly lets the reader know his opinions on those matters. O'Reilly covers the way that secular progressives are different from traditionalists. He cites many examples, but the one I recall is Randy Cohen. The ethicist reporter for the NYT wrote an article saying that "good people should decide for themselves what laws should be obeyed."

The next chapter deals with Christmas and the attack on it. O'Reilly devotes about twenty pages to this. I will not spoil any of the content on the subject; however this chapter is an important part of the culture war. House Resolution 579 was passed 401 to 22. The twenty were Democrats. O'Reilly discusses in the next chapter the ambushes that he has been hit with in his career. This chapter was something that all media types could write about. Not everyone in the country or world will like you no matter how hard you try. His chapter about the War on Terror could merit a book in itself. He spends little time on the subject and uses some more Lakoff quotes to prove his point about secular progressives.

O'Reilly really gets tough on people the judge that did not sentence a man that raped a little girl from age six to ten. The man received sixty days first and after public outcry the judge changed the sentence to three years. He also discusses a case about a school district giving 7-10 year olds a survey about sex. The stories are interesting but could probably be googled and found on the internet.

The last section of the book O'Reilly discusses the battle for America. Norman Mailer (an S-P advocate) defines some issues in the cultural war: "S-P movement wants the U.S to decline in power, and it wants a new world order where global consensus would rule and the superpower model of our time would recede into obsolescence."

O'Reilly writes a book that should help bring traditionalists into the culture war to stand up for their beliefs. Some of the content is recycled from his show so not all things are new to people that watch his show. I did enjoy the part that religion will not win the war; the traditionalists must win it. I also enjoyed the part about not getting mad at the secular progressives when they attack but take the moral high ground. The book was a quick read (less than twelve hours) so anybody can make time to read the book. I felt that O'Reilly was trying to stand up for my traditional values and not be a bitter attack hawk in the process. He writes the book in a middle of the aisle way, but I know that the S-Ps will destroy the book and criticize it like many already have.

The bickering has to stop sometime so ideas and thoughts can win the battle. Forget the name calling and badmouthing and use knowledge and ideas to win the war. Everyday Americans will enjoy the book because he is fair in his critiques and even says he likes some people that tilt to the left. This book will please many and anger many at the same time. A job well done.

Here is the problem with the book, do research on the topics that he states as fact that he cleverly distorts, the two that I can remember of hand are the ACLU taking up the case for NAMBA which they did but the reason why they took up the case were based on first amendment issues, and the Guy in florida killing the young girl, in which he states that guy wrote him from prison confessing that other were involved with the either the kidnaping or the knowledge about the kidnapping but fails to present said letter in the book ( if he did in later chapters then I missed it)... but its whatever this book is not a good read, its only good with you want to better understand bill or you like being angry about things

Bill Oreilly - love him or hate him; everybody has a view on this guy. Anyone who's read his other books or watched his show won't be surprised by what's in this book, but that doesn't mean it's useless. He occasionally needs to come out with a book like this to counter the propaganda put out by those who hate him (e.g., "comedian" Al Franken and political neophyte George Clooney). He sets the story straight here, but then again, much of this is preaching to the converted, so to speak. Not sure how many of the haters will bother to read it. And yes, I read books written by liberals too.

Over the years, Bill Oreilly has softened his approach as he's gotten more famous, unfortunately. As he spends a lot of time surrounded by liberals (when he's not on the set of Fox News), there's probably only so much negativity he can put up with before feeling the need to be on the "right side" of the issue. The cocktail party scene in NYC is unforgiving and he might want the occasional invite, even from liberals. O'Reilly inadvertently uses their language when he says things like "mean spirited" and derides "talk radio"; this is nothing more than code for "disagreeing with liberals" and "Rush Limbaugh", respectively. Say what you mean, Bill.

Also, O'Reilly severely misses the point about the position the Catholic Church takes on homosexual adoption. He falls into the trap of advancing the feel-good notion that they ought to change their views. This is typical of American Catholics in particular, that if only the Vatican would revise the rules, things would be so much better, etc. Bill, hate to say it, but that's the religion. It isn't about getting the right politician up there to modify it; you might as well expect Muslims to stop praying five times a day. Love it or hate it, the Catholics in Massachusetts who made that decision [not to acquiesce to the politicians requiring them to place orphans into homosexual adoption] are at least consistent in their beliefs.

Overall, the book is a good read, but don't mistake Bill for anything more than a great, fair host and illuminating commentator. He should not regarded as a true conservative idealogue.

Bill polarizes. So anyone who reads this book already has an opinion about the generalities, just not the details of the book. I will review the latter.

More than anything else, this book is a trumpet sounding "reveille," and then "charge!" O'Reilly focuses on tactical issues, as opposed to Mark Levin's Liberty and Tyranny: A Conservative Manifesto, which is a strategic book, or Ravi Zacharias's Deliver Us From Evil, which is a moral and religious book. All three should be read as a serendipitous trilogy.

As with most of O'Reilly's books, it is a mixture of journalism and journaling. We get the specifics of his battles, the wounds and scars he has suffered in standing for traditionalism. So it is slight on theory, except for the last chapter.

This book has great photos: Calvin Coolidge's Christmas greeting, George Clooney's face frozen mid-shout. My favorites are the archival photos of O'Reilly with vintage 1970s hair. Nixon was right when he said burn the tapes!

I do have a question of nomenclature. The opposite of a Secular-Progressive is not a Traditionalist, but a Spiritual-Traditionalist. O'Reilly makes the case for an atheistic-agnostic dynamic among the traditionalists, but can you show me a traditionalist society that was secular?

One scholar noted, "When the history of human thought shall be written from the point of view of temple worship, it may well be found that temples and the work done in them have been the dominating influence in shaping human thought from the beginning of the race."

Furthermore, there is no hope in secularism. Or more pointedly, there is no progress in Progressivism. Peter Kreeft observed that modernists (roughly equivalent to the S-P) put their faith in the one thing that cannot progress: matter (C.S. Lewis for the Third Millennium : Six Essays on the Abolition of Man).

Think about it--S-P reduces everything to matter, which is locked in the prison cell of thermodynamics and entropy. Secular-Progressivism is really Self-Contradictoryism.

Two end points. His fictions President Hernandez in 2020 is really Obama, just 10 years earlier. This is a benchmark as to the rate of change in the culture war--things are rushing quicker than anticipated.

His last chapter on the code of the traditional warrior should be photocopied and memorized. Hopefully some anthology a century from now will include it for required reading in history classes when this era is finally studied impartially.

Our world is changing rapidly- not just from things like pollution and armed conflicts- but also from actions taken by politicians, judges and people in positions of authority who change they way we live and interact with each other.

"Culture Warrior" covers the America of today- and what America might look like and "seem" like in the years ahead- due to questionable policies concerning topics like illegal immigration, drug use, the environment and states' rights. O'Reilly starts the book with a "what if" scenario...and then throughout the book portrays a series of situations which are now unfolding that could cause the unthinkable to become reality.

Some topics like illegal immigration will forever remain controversial- and there will be strong feelings on both sides for decades to come. Having lived in San Diego for ten years (1988-98) where the INS in 1988 estimated that 5,000 people a week crossed the border illegally, I can say from personal experience that this is not only a huge problem- it is a tidal wave about to deluge the U.S. in the years to come if we do not solve it. Successfully defending and patrolling our borders is critical to not only stem illegal immigration- but also to defend against terrorists who see opportunities to destroy our country. This is but one major topic covered in "Culture Warrior" which deserves much more attention from our politicians and the involved citizens who want to protect their great country.

"Culture Warrior" is a thought-provking read... and many who disagree on the left are likely to use it as their rallying cry in local and national elections in the future. Yet, O'Reilly does our country a favor by bringing these topics to the forefront- even in his sometimes irreverent way. O'Reilly is tough, but honest- and his commentaries are largely right on the mark.

Well, another week, another O'Reilly book down. And though I mostly consider myself a single issue voter (national security -- what else?), this book is ripe with good information. Some of it I knew, but more so I enjoyed his sentient advice for dealing with the "secular progressive" wing that runs the Democrat party and repulsively sees our noble nation as basically evil, therefore seeks to undermine America and change us into a totalitarian state (my adjective, not his).

This book is a few years old now, so though its concerns are valid and only a few are outdated, an update might still be a good idea, especially with the continuing "success" of the "S-Ps" in turning our nation to something our proud ancestors would not recognize and abhor.

Also, with the improbable election of a naive radical with no leadership experience as our new celebrity "president," and heinous/defeatist simpletons running congress, this book is of utmost importance, which is why finally I read it.

That billions want to come TO America, and avoid "the world" (leftist term) around of us (containing hatred and violence), is immaterial to the George Soroses and Clooneys of America. The richest folks, who have used America the most, deplore us, and want rapid change. And since they cannot do it easily since 75% of Americans are truly not in toe with them, they use the media, brainwashing, schools and the ballot box where they pass discriminatory laws that allow special voting rules for "their people." (And yet, you hear the Republicans are corrupt, stole elections, etc, while Colin Powell says the GOP is "polarizing" and "out of touch"?)

As to the book itself, O'reilly humbly admits his own errors, but factually warns us to be wary of "debating" these hatemongers since they rarely are brave enough to do so, and when they do, call names and avoid intelligent debate. I have lost friends to this fatuous behavior, and so be it. This is life, and you cannot be afraid to fight. G-d can sort them out, even if they don't believe in a Deity.

Mr. O wisely spends a great deal of time exposing America's premier enemy within: the ACLU, who, simply so they can elect left-wing politicians who'll carry their "progressive" agenda, actively aids our enemies here & abroad through lies and intimidating the courts and schools. (The heads of that organization should be in prison rather than grafting funds from you and me.)

We "traditionalists" are correct, always have been. While they "fear" global warming, we fear America turning into Eurabia and diminishing our role in aiding the world against Islamic terrorism, after all. This War to Save Liberalism means little to these so-called "liberals." We want upward mobility and opportunities for all, but not unless they sacrifice and work -- and not at the EXPENSE of those who do hard work. That's un-American. No guilt here.

So, this is possible Bill's best work. It's smooth, well scribed, very fair and very important.

He wants you to join the Culture War, as 85% likely agree with religion and Judeo-Christians values being important, protecting traditional marriage, nascent life, our youths from vagrants who wish to do them harm, and judges who misinterpret the law (to put it kindly)supporting our military as they attempt to, as usual, rid the world of tyranny, etc. Our forefathers did, after all.

Others prefer the opposite while they watch American Idol and sip their lattes on the coasts, ignoring evil and deprecating our great nation.

One of us will have some explaining to do.

O'Reilly is a true Traditionalist. He has laid down the gauntlet in this book as Traditionalists versus Secular Progressives. This book is nearly 3 years old and much of what Bill has predicted is coming straight down the pike. I read this to see how much of the information that was predicted would actually come to the fore. And after reading the introduction of the new Hispanic President in 2020, you already realize that the time table has moved up nearly 17 years.

I don't agree with O'Reilly on every issue, but upon most, I do. This is a short read and somewhat entertaining. The information is no longer state of the art, but there was quite a bit of information on the ACLU that confirmed what I thought.

As the first to call to arms the Traditionalists against the Progressives, Bill deserves some credit. Others are now seeing the light, but this was little before the time. The old Democrat vs. Republican argument no longer holds water and O'Reilly calls out both sides on this.

Interesting, but not overly so.

After reading Bill O'reilly's book I have renewed confidence in my beliefs. After watching so much mainstream media, and listening to to many popular celebrities I was starting to doubt my way of thinking, maybe I was wrong in my way of looking at things? The people Bill O'reilly writes about in his book really CAN do a job on you. If you agree with an Secular Progressive then by golly, you are a wonderful person, you are doing what is right, if you don't agree then by god, look out! You can't think for your self you are hateful and should be ashamed of yourself!

After reading I will now stand up even stronger for what I believe in will never be ashamed to speak up for my religious and moral beliefs and I will continue to be PROUD to be an American and believe in my country. I will encourage my family and friends to do the same.
Bill O'rielly has done a great service to many Americans by writing this book. S-P's look out, the T-Warriors are coming!

In 'Culture Warrior', Bill O'Reilly does a good job of articulating the growing divide in our nation.

O'Reilly labels the opposing factions as 'traditionalists' and 'secular progressives'. He views the chasm in the country as being primarily cultural, rather than political.

This book contains some flaws, but does a commendable job of outlining the issues. Here is the good and bad of the book as I see it:

Pros
1. It does a good job of identifying the root of the battle for the heart and soul of America.
2. It clearly defines many of the biggest problems in the country currently that will be disastrous if not changed. Some of these are the mediocre educational system, media bias, anti American indoctrination in colleges and universities, and insidious organizations such as the ACLU with a very warped agenda such as protecting pedophilia (North American Man Boy Love Association) while attacking the Boy Scouts.
3. Exposing the lunacy of moral equivalence where domestic political opponents such as George W. Bush are compared with terrorists such as Al Qaeda by the hate America first crowd.
4. O'Reilly is balanced in naming names of insidious and divisive people. Not only does he point out the Michael Moore types, but he also accurately acknowledges Michael Savage as a pretty nasty guy (although I've always wondered if Savage wasn't a plant by the loony left to discredit their oppontents as he is so loony like them).
Cons
1. It is absurd to use their own terminology to name the 'secular progressives'. That is simply a progaganda term of their own choosing. Orwell would have called it newspeak. Simply calling them secularists would be accurate without villifying them.
2. The Apostle Paul was never a pagan. Mr. O'Reilly's knowledge of Biblical history is not good. Prior to his conversion, Paul was a zealous Pharisee. The Pharisees were a Jewish sect, not pagans.
3. Although O'Reilly opposes socialism throughout the book, on page 203, he said, 'If we want to turn America into a socialist republic, let's vote on it'. That is absurd. That is like saying lets have two wolves and one lamb have a vote on what is for dinner. The majority will make its choice, but what about minority rights? That is one of the main ideas behind the U.S. Constitution - protecting minority rights.

Overall, this is a very good book that should be read by all. It would be a good source of insight and a great discussion piece.

I recently finished the book and commend him on this fine work. He uses facts and personal accounts to describe to Americans a domestic war that many may not realize is going on, but one that is as vital to the future and security of our great nation as the War on Terror. He mentions the personal and emotional nature of the book as well as the effect of his fight on both him and his family. This is one reason why I enjoyed the book as Bill was pouring his heart out into the culture war.

Overall, Bill O'Reilly has created a masterful work that is of great importance to Americans who see our country as a force of good in the world. His bravery in exposing the forces who seek to destroy what America is has come at a personal cross. Through great facts and examples as well as personal experience, O'Reilly has created the perfect field manual for the traditional warrior. Soldiers of the traditionalist army, pick up a copy of Culture Warrior, that's an order.

[The year is 2020, Conservative president Leroy Schwartz gives gives inaugural address]

"My fellow Americans, we Conservatives have finally achieved our goal of subliminally influencing Americans into accepting our 'real' agenda; which was to mandate worship of Jesus because Christianity is a moderating force, without which society crumbles! We have also solved the problem of inequality among the different ethnicities by returning to a policy of segregation which was the vision of our founders. (Insert well intentioned but evil Conservative "goal" here)

Now, I ask you people; would you want to live in president Schwartz's America? Of course not! And neither do I! and that's why I'm fighting..... the figment of my imagination that I described above.

"Culture Warrior" could easily adopt one of two sub titles:

One would be "The Phantom Menace" For the reasons I stated above. O'Reilly continually uses ad-Hominem, non sequitur, and conspiratorial stitching to create an "enemy" a "real agenda" on the part of that "enemy", and proceeds to dismantle it before our eyes.

The luxury one has in attacking words and goals that he puts in the mouths of other is considerable; none of the mustache twirling villains can defend them selves against the charge, why? Oh, it's not because no such goals exist, and that the actual (and mostly separate) goals of liberals, secularists, progressives, and socialists; do not result in banning religion in public, having children decide the curriculum of schools, and other nonsense that sounds well meaning but evil; oh no! it's because they hold their views in secret! they'd never say it, but the words I'm putting in their mouths are their REAL goals! All of these random and separate people and groups also all happen to be working together. Billionaires, News papers, Actors? A billionaire here and there: they're all funded by the same few people from whom they are either so identical in views that they unwittingly do their diabolical bidding, or they simply receive their "marching orders": "Go forth ye, and send out subliminal messages of secularism and liberalism to the country! muahahahahaha! [Que Doctor Evil music].

It wouldn't take much besides name changes to turn O'Reilly's "Secular-Progressives" delusion into "The Illuminati", "The twelve Jew bankers", or "Bush did 9/11 so that neocon's could take over the world for Jesus". We hear this kind of paranoid conspiracy rambling all the time, the only difference is; they are rarely, if ever, taken as seriously as the "Culture War" Meme is.

A second sub title for "Culture Warrior" could have been: "You might be a fascist"

If you want equal rights for Gay people.... you might be a fascist! [Que laugh track]

If you think that the country was well founded, but meant to be perfected and fulfilled over time.... you might be a fascist!

If you think that America is ANYTHING other than a blameless, pure, force for good in the world; because the tally of good deeds is higher than the tally of bad deeds... You might be a fascist!

Again, we've heard this all before. "If we don't stop making "progress" in this country, and move beyond a more primitive form of government and society; then one day we'll wake up, and the pinko's that were hiding under our beds will be running our lives."

To the readers of this review: before you start labeling me a liberal, let me be the first to admit that my views certainly run to the left of O'Reilly; but that isn't my problem, my problem is; this was no different than any other conspiracy book I've ever read. This is not Conservative thought, this is no William F Buckley treatise. This is a figment of O'Reilly's imagination turned into a straw man and efficiently beaten until the stuffing is all over the floor.
