Terry Mancour has once again surprised me. The quality of his writing is superb as usual, with excellent characterizations in a well developed world with a strong plot. I knew I would enjoy the book as usual, but I was expecting a novela considering the price and because it hadn't been very long since he had published his last novel. I was very happy to find that I was instead a full novel over six hundred pages in length. I found that even though the novel was focused mostly on the main characters erstwhile apprentices it was still surprisingly deep. I give Mr. Mancour five stars for this excellent addition to his very well written and well edited Spellmonger series.

For every page of interest in this book there are 20-30 pages of absolutely boring garbage. Don't bother even considering wasting your time on this book. Also seems to be more than usual kindle related editing errors. These are just pointed out since this is something that doesn't bother me enough to have them affect a rating. Of course since the book isn't worth reading no one should care.

My first experience with Terry Mancour and a ton of fun! The book was long enough to allow the main characters to grow from familiar adversaries to unique and developed characters with a story strong enough to entertain throughout. I feel like I lucked out with this book as my first in the series, it was full of backstory and gave payoffs to a new direction of the story. Well worth the time and cost.

I can only assume that the author wrote this book using dictation software, and the editor couldn't catch everything. If you've read the previous three books, you will enjoy this one thoroughly. 'Nuff said.

I was slightly disappointed in this book, probably because I found the preceding and following books in this series to be so very wonderful. In fact, I skipped several pages at various points because they were boring. Never fear the books following this are great!

started reading this series on a monday and have read 4 books so far and its a friday. this series has gotten better and better. i also like how the author adds to the map as you go making it easier to imagine the story.

“Sigh” this is such a frustrating series. I have read many, many books. Lots and lots of self-published as well. Never have I encountered a series so poorly edited. It’s not just typos. It’s dialogue attributed to the wrong person. This makes it difficult to parse out is just freaking sloppy. Do better if you want to write.

We have been listening to this series from Book one to this #4. When traveling we listen to this series. Time flies by and it makes the trip seem shorter. Since the books are several hours, we can't wait until the next road trip, so we sit on our deck in the evenings and listen to them at home. They are very entertaining and the narrator is excellent. We will be going through all 10 books until done. I don't think we have watched TV in ages.

I have not finished this story yet, am about half through so far and I am enjoying the continuing saga of the mages very much. There are times I am irritated by glaring text errors which should have been caught, but what the heck! Again, very enjoyable story much like books 2 and 3. I will say that I miss extent of the author's humor as was in the first book. The humor is still there, just toned down. Wish I could give 4.5 stars.

I purchased the audiobook with this as I normally do. However this book has weird chapters or sections that prevents the audio book from syncing with the Kindle book. Instead of going between reading and listening in the car I had to listen to the entire story as I could not sync my page in the Kindle book.
