Unlike the other reviews, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I did go back and re-read the previous two books in which they were mentioned and then I followed with this new one. I think that made me connect with both characters right away. I loved the way they came together in understanding and love and of course passion. The passion that Johanna Lindsey always shows in the characters she creates is amazing and the tention is there throughout the book. I suggest you read the previous two books and then dive right into this one. I really love that Johanna Lindsey links characters from one book to the next. I loved "The Devil Who Tamed Her" and can't wait for more books from Johanna Lindsey.

I liked reading a romance story about a spoiled, bratty heroine (Ophelia) and enjoyed how she changed to become a likable character. Rafe (hero) was a likable character as well. This is an easy read with a cute plot. I like the fact that the story focused strictly on the main two chracters.

The book was fun and refreshing. A recommended light and easy summer reading.
Although, there are much better historical romance writers nowadays and the last few novels of Ms. Lindsey have been hits or misses, this one delivered a good entertaining, finish-as-soon-as possible quality.
Looking forward for a new one next year.....

It was a fun read, although not particularly engrossing... you end up liking both characters, but the change in Ophelia is not believable, especially not with the reasons given which in my opinion are lame, and considering the way she behaved in The Heir (duncan & sabrina's story - which is actually worse). Read it if you really have nothing better to do, but it wasn't great. Not compared to the rest of her books.

Okay, this book was a complete waste of money, not to mention the wasted hours. The plot was ridiculous and the hero was the most unlovable hypocrite ever...If the book was written well it might have made up for the lackwit characters. I don't mean to sound like a rabid feminist but if someone talked to me the way he talked to her I would have (no joke)slapped him silent. I'm not sure that jargon such as "old school"(among others)was used in 19th century England either. This book was not worth the money I paid save yours.

I was really disappointed by this novel. It started off slow and just when things were getting interested the plot stalled and then abruptly ended. I have never read one of her books where the ending seemeed like an afterthought. I certainly had high hopes for this book, and the characters had potential, but in the end was disappointed with this latest addition.

Okay, love Johanna Lindsey usually but this was one of the worst romance books I've ever read!I have never had a book where I skipped through chapters because I thought I was going to lose my mind but this was the first. Her herione isn't at all likable even towards the end, shes quite obnoxious!I thought the hero could definitely do better. If you're going to read it get it from the library so you don't lose money.

I have a hard time believing that we are supposed to be applauding Rafe for unilaterally deciding that he needed to "reform" a woman he didn't even KNOW based on a few instances of catty behavior. Why didn't he decide to reform Mavis too? How was HER behavior toward Ophelia acceptable? I think that's the main reason I couldn't get into this book. He's just too much of a condescending hypocrite. And not at all honorable. I kept wishing someone would kidnap HIM and hold him prisoner until he learned to stop interfering in strangers' lives.

The book is good enough to read but nothing more. It doesn't have any dryly or witty retorts or some super special story. If you have it read it if you don't don't go running to the bookstore to buy it.

I loved Rafe and Ophelia. I thought the story was well written, and I finished it in one night. I had re-read The Heir prior to picking this up, which helped greatly w/the insight of Ophelia's behavior.

This book can be summarized in one word...boring! There is no plot, no characters with character, no tension, nothing worth reading. The most amazing thing about this book is how Linsdey can stretch 12 chapters that can be summarized in 1 paragraph (which readers can find on the back cover). Her last three books have been a bit disappointing but this one is simply terrible.

I never connected with the characters and didn't finish the book which is unusual for me, but I just didn't care. The characters are very two dimensional. The heroine is the most beautiful woman on the planet, but no one really cares about her, only her beauty...get over yourself already. And the hero seems like a lightweight compared to her prior characters.

Anyway, I enjoyed the Mallory books much more, particularly Amy's and Georgina's stories.

I thought this might be too stereotypical, a pygmalion of sorts. The plot may be typical, but the author weaves a ovely tale with just the right mix of suspense, romance, erotica and scandal. I enjoyed every minute of it!
