This book is everything one hopes for in a romance and much more! The strength, independence and humor of both Mara and Temple/William makes you fall in love with both of them. You can't help rooting for them both anymore then you will be able to put the book down. I loved it!!!

Spoilers ahead...

I thought when I read Dirty Red by Tarryn Fisher that Leah was the most unlikable female lead character I had ever come across. I was wrong, Mara is much worse. Leah owns her crazy, Mara feels her actions are justifiable.

It took much, much too long for her to show any remorse and feel any sympathy for Temple. She didn't come back to absolve him in any way, she came back to fleece him for money. I was gnashing my teeth whenever the story was told from her point of view because I could not sympathize with her anger or hurt, because I disliked her intensely and couldn't relate to what she was feeling. She was self absorbed and vile, and her redemption, such as it was, was a little too little, and too late.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book!!! It was very entertaining and kept my interest from start to finish. I have loved all the books in this series. I love the toughness of the leading man & yet the author makes him vulnerable as well as gentle. And the leading lady was wonder. She had the same qualities that he had. I liked the humor as well. I highly recommend this book as well as the others in this series. I give it 5 stars.

The story was fun even without having read the two that preceded it. I found that the constant stream of typos was super annoying though. I'm used to there being a few typos but these were all over the place. Aside from that I did love the hero of the story, I loved that he was perfectly flawed and he was the perfect combination of strength and vulnerability. I wasn't sold on the heroine of the story though. Even at the end of the story I felt like she was undeserving. Her reasons didn't convince me, although she did redeem herself a bit at the end with her actions. To sum it up, I normally find I want to read all the books in a series but I don't feel overly compelled to continue with this one...at least not if I have to pay for it.

Sarah Maclean's writing is appealingly descriptive and moving. Her sense of humor shows in her characters which are all too human and believable and I love the way her other scoundrels interact with each other in the books. I was quite peeved with Mara though for constantly trying to negotiate what should never have been negotiable...she would have been much more appealing if there had been something else keeping her from telling the truth for so long. As soon as she learned the truth or her father dies she should have come forward no excuses unless there was some sort of blackmail or horrendous result from telling said truth. A year I could see... not years and years

I agree with the readers who are critical of Mara's character and Temple's good sense. I think this book would have read more easily if she had been remotely repentant before the turning point, which does not occur until very late in the book. As it were, it is difficult to enjoy a book when you are livid with the heroine for the first half and the generosity of the hero with his villainess strain belief.

This is the only book in this series I did not enjoy.

An eagerly anticipated third addition to the Rule of Scoundrels series by Sarah MacLean. I enjoyed the book but felt that there was a tad too much repetition - this should have been a shorter book. That said, it was good to meet old friends and learn more about the delectable Temple, aka the Killer Duke, and what circumstances brought him to the current point in his life. I think I just wished we could have gotten down to business a little quicker. A little less dithering would have been fine with me.

That being said, Sarah MacLean, I did NOT see that coming. By meticulous Kindle searching I was able to confirm that it was all fair and aboveboard. But, wow. Just. Wow. I am still laughing at myself. Just when you think you've risen above stereotypes... Well.

It was a struggle to think about the main characters in this book ending up happily ever after. However, the book is very well written and keeps your attention page after page. I had moments where I couldn't put it down until I knew what would happen. The author did a great job of making you like both characters regardless of their past history. I have not read any of the other books in this series, but I look forward to reading them all. I am a fan of Sarah MacLean and will always buy her books.

Sarah MacLean keeps your heart engaged through the entire book. You will be laughing, crying, falling in love with her scoundrels, and cheering for her leading ladies. One of the best series I have read.

Really enjoyed this book, so glad I found this author. This book surpasses the other two of these I read. Though I understand other reviewers frustration at "misunderstandings" between the characters , isn't that the game of such stories? Though the hero and heroine are flawed, they are quite likeable. And fail to see their own feelings about one another until it is almost to late. But that is one makes this a great read. I look forward to the next book!

NO GOOD DUKE GOES UNPUNISHED is the third book in Sarah MacLean’s Rules of Scoundrels series. It is the story of Temple, known as the Killer Duke, one of the four partners in the Fallen Angels gaming hell. As with all of The Rules of Scoundrels series, the story begins with Temple’s “fall” from grace. Temple’s fall occurred twelve years ago when he awoke in the bed of his future stepmother covered in blood. Temple does not know what happened. While no body is found, but Mara Lowe has disappeared so Temple is believed guilty – even by Temple.

Mara Lowe is not dead. She was 16 when she was to marry Temple’s father (she was to be Temple’s fourth stepmother). Twelve years later, she returns because her younger brother, Christopher Lowe, has gotten into debt at the partners gaming hell and she wishes to save him and recover her money that Christopher has lost.

The first scene between Mara and Temple is really great. It isn’t a spoiler to state that Temple is a bit annoyed to discover that Mara is alive. The scenes throughout the book between the two are fantastic. Mara is a fighter and certainly a match for the boxer extraordinaire Temple. This book is a bit more plot heavy than the other books of the series and the two characters struggle against one another more. It is more of a prize fight and the reader experiences round after round of action between Temple and Mara. Without giving too much way, the two have some incredible battles in Temple’s boxing ring at the Fallen Angel!

NO GOOD DUKE GOES UNPUNISHED is a dark and emotionally intense novel. Temple and Mara have a long way to go to get their HEA. Temple, a character who has accepted his fate, is now consumed with rage and a lust for vengeance. However, that desire is not natural for Temple who struggles with his desire to redeem himself and his desire for Mara.

I have enjoyed all of MacLean’s novels. She is now one of my favorite writers. I find that her books are filled with incredible, individual characters. They are memorable and no two of her books are the same. I also really enjoy The Rules of Scoundrels in particular because her books are dark and filled with tension. When the HEA finally happens, I feel that I have traveled alongside the characters and rejoice with them.

NO GOOD DUKE GOES UNPUNISHED is the darkest novel in the series because both characters are deeply hurt by their past. In the previous two books in the series, the heroine provided the light in the story. Here, Mara is the catalyst for the darkness in Temple’s life so their romance is much more complicated. In fact, Temple is the victim here and Mara is the one who feel unworthy. She has harmed Temple immensely in the past and continues to harm him throughout the novel. It is Temple who ultimately gives his forgiveness and acceptance to Mara.

To me this book isn’t quite as good as ONE GOOD EARL DESERVERS A LOVER (the second book of the series) but that book is one of my all time favorite novels. That being said, NO GOOD DUKE GOES UNPUNISHED is at least as good as A ROGUE BY ANY OTHER NAME and in some ways I like this more because the characters are now familiar to me. I loved the interaction with all the Scoundrels and their wives. This is the first book of the series where we really get to see all the characters together and the crisis which brings all our characters into the same room was emotional and heartbreaking. These Scoundrels are not only partners but are also a family.

Finally, I give a WOW, WOW, WOW for the Epilogue. This is one book that you want to read without spoilers for the Epilogue. MacLean reveals a big secret about Chase, whose book is the next in the series. My mouth dropped when I read the reveal and I had to read it twice to believe what I was reading. I think that the Reader who does not peek at the ending will get a really great surprise and I can’t wait for Chase’s book.

NO GOOD DUKE DOES UNPUNISHED continues a fantastic series by Sarah MacLean. A reader doesn’t have to read the other books of the series before reading this one, but honestly, this book is more enjoyable if you have already encountered Temple. Start with A ROGUE BY ANY OTHER NAME and then continue with ONE GOOD EARL DESERVES A LOVER (my favorite of the series) before reading this book. Temple is important in both those novels and a reader will have a better idea of his relationship with the other Scoundrels and their wives.

I give this book a 5 plus stars! I only give this rating to books that I love the first time I read them but that are also ones that I will re-read. I’ve already read this one three times and I expect that I will read it again and again.

The Scoundrel series has been excellent and No Good Duke... did not disappoint right up to the surprise ending. It was rewarding to find out Temple's backstory while providing the relationship to grow with his partners of the Fallen Angel.

Again Ms. MacLean has written another fast paced fun book. I loved how the previous scandal characters make appearances in this novel. I still like books 1 and 2 better (they are probably in my top 10). The heroines were just more likable than Mara. That being said I would still highly recommend this book.
