I would absolutely love this book ....if my daughter could actually use it. The copy I received, which I understood was a bit "used", is almost completely filled out. Doesn't help her much having the answers provided for her. Extremely disappointed & hoping I can return or exchange for a better copy

I ordered a school book for my daughter & the seller stated it would ship Aug 24-25, 2010 .Well it never shipped so I emailed the seller Aug. 27,2010 & he never responded to me directly. But on Aug.28,2010 I received a the store automated reply stating that the order was canceled due to a shortage.Definitely not satisfied.

I am thoroughly irritated about this book, in that, it came from an outside seller, and never was it mentioned that the entire workbook had already been written in. It was billed as used in very good condition. It is totally unusable, and, if I had the time I would have contacted the seller and asked for a refund, etc.

The vocabulary represented in these books is awesome! Each unit has a list of about 20 words that are uncommon but found on college entry and graduate school exams. Each unit also has several exercises for the list of words to help the student get enough practice to remember the definition. I"m not a fast reader and my vocabulary is not anything special, except for the words I learned from these books. Some of my teachers (grades 6 and 10) used these growing up (20+ years ago) and I STILL remember them! I only wish ALL of my teachers used them. I know they made a tremendous difference in how I scored on the ACT/SAT all the way thru the GRE, and writing and reading comprehension in college was so much easier having learned the vocabulary. Now as I homeschool I use them too with my kids. They are pricey but worth it!

The text is crammed into the small format book, making each page look very cluttered, and it is difficult to find where one lesson ends and another begins. The words being used are ok, but the exercises to help learn them are short and the stories for context are extrememly short and uninspiring. Learning vocab. should have SOME element of interest/fun to it...

The answers to the older series have been posted on various websites at one time or another by students hoping to skip the work so there is a newer edition (pub. 2002).

I'm usually concerned about purchasing items on line, especially books. I can honestly say that this experience was worth it. I would recommend this seller to anyone interested in purchasing good quality books at extremely reasonable prices.

Buy with confidence, I did!

It's a good book. Offers pronounciation, definitions, synonyms, and antonyms, as well as good practice. Chances are there are at least some words you'll learn from the book, even if you do well on the diagnostic test but I still suggest that you take that test to see if you should get a higher level book.

Vocabulary Workshop was part of our curriculum in Honors English in High School in the 90's. It was my favorite part of class. Fun and informative! I would probably do them for fum now! Awesome Books.

The book was posted as very good condition no writing in it and we found that almost all of the pages were filled in with answers in ink. It was a useless workbook, bad advertised description, and bad purchase. We are highly disappointed with this purchase.
