This book really helped me with my word work instruction during my Daily 5 & CAFE. I love the word sorts & PD Toolkit. I used the website to track & group my students. I use the electronic word sorts when demonstrating the procedures.

Great book and website to use with the included code. A little disappointed in the cost due to the fact that it is for teachers and most of us pay for it ourselves. Looking forward to implementing in the classroom this year.

Excellent resource for an literacy teacher. Offers understandable explanations of technical terms, lays out the developmental literacy stages thoroughly, and provides a wealth of resources to the teacher, both in book and online.

This is a practical presentation of developmental spelling, and easy to use for a homeschool parent. Word sorts are printed out on grids, so all I need to do is copy off the page and my daughter cuts them apart. Each sort includes instructions for the teacher or parent to introduce and extend the lesson.

This text is very user friendly, provides clear and detailed instructions, and all the tools a user needs to informally assess, plan instruction and work with children in all the facets of word study.

Great book, but can be challenging to keep up with depending on how you use and the number of students in your classroom. Best, if you implement with help because it differentiates for each student according to their strengths/weaknesses.

This book arrived in excellent condition. It was exactly as listed and is very helpful with preparing hands on lessons in phonics. It is a great resource in preparing for Literacy Center instruction.

This is definitely the standard when it comes to spelling education in VA. Like another reviewer said, this is not a test on Friday type program. This program is about learning patterns rather than memorizing how to spell. Students won't learn to spell conclusion and suspicion but rather be able to differentiate between -sion and -cion when they hear "shun" at the end of the word. This is more effective because students learn groups of words rather than one word at a time. They also understand the "why" of spelling.

I gave this book 4 star instead of 5 because there should be an easier way to access the sorts. There should be digital copies that teachers can download instead of having to purchase additional books for additional sorts in each level.

Words Their Way includes a complete instructional intervention tool that incorporates phonics, vocabulary, and spelling. The assessment guides help determine the stages of spelling development and facilitate appropriate groups and activities. A DVD and CD are enclosed. The book arrived as expected in excellent condition.

If you need to differentiate your spelling groups this book will do it. You will be able to assess and place all of your students into four areas and then manage those groups easily without struggling. I recommend it.
