Brad Taylor has quickly become one of my favorite authors. In Pike Logan, Kurt, Jennifer, and the Taskforce, Taylor has created a realistic and gritty storyline reminiscent of what you would have expected from Clancy, the great one, in his prime. Far from the sterile world where everything goes well and everyone goes home, this is the real world of Murphy's Law, and there is a fair amount of political intrigue and behind the scenes dealing thrown in to further complicate things. Also, Taylor is excellent at describing the weapons and tactics of war in a very realistic way. This is a story that takes us all around the world, involves Qatar, sneaky dealings in the Islamic world, and a potential peace conference with the Taliban. All in all, it's a gripping and satisfying read, even though we lose another team member. Nope, not telling which one. Suffice to say, if you are a fan of the grittily, realistic, geopolitical military thriller, Brad Taylor is someone you ought to follow. As I said, however, don't expect a superhero, and bullets often do hit things, and in combat, things can quickly take an unanticipated turn. Nor should you expect political correctness.

I had a difficult time keeping the characters straight and in time sequence. I had hoped to find an author similar to Brad Thor or Vince Gill as I have read all their works. I will have to keep looking.
