Gabrielle story felt real and honest. I loved how she told the story of her grandmothers neighborhood. I can relate to the depiction of people who made wrong choices but were great people. I thought it was brave how honest she was in this book

Gabrielle is very down to earth and honest! We could definitely be best friends! Kudos to you for living in your truth and having the courage to share it with us. I being a dark skinned sister, really appreciated your talk on colorism especially. I do realize now that it happens on all levels, but to be conscious of it makes for great dialogue no matter what your age. Thank you and best wishes to you!

I liked how Gabrielle opened up about her childhood and assault that she survived. The bully section was interesting because it kept me in suspense. I wanted to know more about her current marriage as she made mention that the public thinks he was cheating when they met and I am not sucked in enough to tabloids to read about that. I am still a big fan and hope another one is around the corner.

I'm definitely a fan of Gabrielle Union. Reading her book has been a treat!! Love the honestly and shared experiences. Very touching and inspirational. I appreciate her sharing of her perspective and I really enjoyed the book.

I would have never guessed in a million years Gabrielle was so down to earth and our lives growing up were so much alike. I've never read about a celebrity who was so open and honest and I truly thank God for her. I see my favorite celebrities in an entirely different way now. I loved this book so much, Thanks Nicky.

Highly recommend read! This book is a page turner and super well written. It’ll make you feel like you’re sitting on the couch next to Gabrielle Union as she reminisce on life’s accounts. I loved it!

I love Gabrielle Union’s candied conversations with us, us meaning her readers and audience. I thank her for being so honest and open. I love her intelligence and knowledge of so many different arenas. She is a phenomenal actress and beautiful spirit inside and out. I thank her for being true to herself... and just being “Nikkie”. Congratulations ? on all of your accomplishments and endeavors!

I had some issues with the sequencing of events in the book. I also found a few grammatical errors. Other than these few items I thought the book was interesting & a page turner. I respect Ms. Union's honesty in sharing her life with readers.

Lawd, have mercy on my weeping eyes and my soul! I want to sign the FONU list! Thank you from every cell in my body for this masterpiece! We lost our virginity the exact same day! We're the same age! And we both have lived and fought those brown girl hangups. This book was cathartic . I already loved Gabrielle Union now I'm my mind I'm an official FONU?.

I love Gabrielle's courage to share her truth, some very personal and gut wrenching experiences I might add. Throughout the narrative readers can truly see Gabby's resilience and personal fortitude to achieve the very best. As well, I love how she incorporated life lessons sprinkled with humor to keep the readers engaged. Easy read, appropriate for mature audiences.

Very honest and open, warts and all. Good easy read. Book was appropriate in length, and she described herself as being a very approachable person, even though we would say a celebrity. And yes the title said it all. Have recommended to family and friends.

Gabrielle Union was raw and unapologetic. Being a black girl raised in a place of unfamiliar faces and having someone understand and actually relate to that experience is beyond awesome! I’m so happy I purchased and read this book and encourage all readers to critically think about being a PERSON OF COLOR IN THE WORLD.

Excellent book for a book club with lots of wine. The stories will flow as naturally as Gabrielle’s did here. Very clear and true voice in the writing style- you’ll be hearing your friend’s voice in your head the whole time.

I love Gabrielle Union as an actress, specifically I Being Mary Jane. This book allowed a personal insight into her life. Some of the information surprised me. Overall, it was a good read and look into her life.

I chose this rating because this book is so relatable. As a young teen woman growing up and trying to fit in, the lengths we'd go through. Gabrielle also included so many of the lessons she'd learn from her experiences. She was most importantly honest! She spoke a lot about assimilation in the black household, communities, pretty much everywhere we go. She spoke about the struggles, which made hey one of us and gives us hope and motivation to make it out as well. Thank you for this awesome read!

I never knew some of the amazing details about Gabrielle. While reading this book I felt like I was having a girls night in with her and she was sharing insight on how she felt about being a black woman and the struggles that she faced to find her happy place. Her writing is wonderful, and her story telling skills are on point!

Absolutely LOVED everything about this read. Gabrielle Union does NOT hold back. She gives the honest, insightful truth that we are too often reluctant to be honest about with others and ourselves. I applaud her being so courageous and brave in keeping it honest and real. I finished this book in 3 days! I plan on starting it all over again and giving it out to several family members and friends this holiday season.

Downloaded the audio because I was very busy and it was on my book club list. OMG! Gabby was telling me the stories right out of her mouth. LOVE THIS BOOK, bought the hardcopy so I can put on my bookshelf to share with others.

I’ve always loved Gabby but this book solidified the fascination I’ve had for her all these years. She’s an amazing, courageous woman. I aspire to exhibit the level of transparency one day as she did in the book. Gabrielle deserves every bit of happiness that she shares today with her hubby and boys. ❤️

This book is like catching up with your girlfriend who has been away for a while. You missed a few things in her life but she filled you in so completely you could swear you were there. Gabrielle is down to earth and relatable. I dare call her Nickie.

This book is so real, so honest so refreshingly unapologetic. It does all of the things it promises on the cover, I most definitely have laughed out loud, and whiped away a tear or two. It is like talking to your best friend... Only, she doesn't know you're her best friend. Thank you so much Gabrielle Union for writing this book you are "fly, dope and amazing!" This book is absolutely wonderful I can relate to this book (her) so much & when at times I thought I was alone & no one could hear me or understand. I cried while reading this book because I’m not alone this is one of my favorite books I always loved Gabrielle but I love her even more wishing her the best

Every woman should read this book. What a refreshing read. You will smile, cry and laugh out loud throughout the book! The only thing that topped reading the book was meeting her in person at a book signing.
