Having never heard of the cult Children of God, I found this book to be absolutely heart breaking at times. The lives these children lived were absolutely miserable. Although these girls suffered from dire circumstances, the end of the story offers a valuable lesson on religion and family. Great book!

As heartbreaking, disturbing, and, at times, hard to follow (it's a story told by 3 sisters), this was an amazing book. My heart goes out to those ladies and all who endured the unbelievable pain and suffering from this cult.

Very enlightening into the life in a cult. Disturbing the power that some have in controlling others. tge girls came out the other side despite the ordeal they went through. What a shame that their father and mother did not protect them like a parent should.

I think many other reviewers gave their ratings based on the subject of the book and the emotions the book brought out, but I'm just going to speak about the quality of the book. While I was really touched by the plight of the girls and committed to seeing their story through until the end, the structure of the book, with each girl telling her own version of events, made for a LOT of repetition, and made this a very hard task. Glad to have read it, but it needs an editor.

This is a straight forward version of what goes on in religious cults. This particular cult seems to be based on sex more than anything else. I will never understand how people can put their children in the middle of such depraved behavior. Given what happened to the kids in this book, it could have, should have, been written with much more passion. I suppose that was brainwashed out of them. What a sorry lot of humanity.

The story was very interesting, but I thought it was too graphic. I think she could have described what happened in less detail and the reader would still realize how tragic it was. I felt like I was reading pornography and almost didn't finish reading it.

Interesting read. Some of the things that were described in the book were a little too much for me to handle, so had to skip parts of it. It was very sad to read the many traumatizing things that these sisters went through during their childhood. Overall a decent book. Although, the ending could have been a little better.
