After reading this book, I decided that I am completely ill-equipped to groom my own dogs. It had way more information than I needed and wanted. I live in a remote area and have a hard time finding groomers to "shear" my long-haired dog for the warm summer months. She feels so much better with that coat gone and I thought, maybe, I could do that myself, but it turns out that the process is much more involved and complicated...dangerous or unhealthy for my pet...for me to tackle it myself. I think if someone wanted to go into the grooming business, this book would provide all the information, directions and tips you could ever want!

I have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. There are NO tips on how to trim any of the sporting dogs like spaniels or setters. I mean, NOTHING except how to trim hair between the toes applies. No herding dogs like border collies, no working dogs, just nothing. I know not all breeds can be shown, obviously, or it would be an encyclopedia. But I would have expected in an "Everything you need to know" grooming book there would be something about some sort of bird dog, at least a small mention of how to fringe type hair. I would actually think for the majority of breeds this is going to be lacking. No herding, working, or sporting dogs. There is nothing larger than a lap dog, and even that was extremely lacking, unless you have something that needs a teddy bear cut like a the dog on the cover.

It does have some good points, descriptions of tools, products, good details on nails, anal sacks, teeth, bathing. It does go into how to paint toe nails and apply glitter paint stencils. Nothing that isn't all over the Internet was useful to me, I literally didn't learn a thing. MANY other grooming books out there that have useful info.

Wait a CKCS is shown in one of the many pictures of famous people with their dogs. I say famous a little loosely since I've never heard of any of them. It doesn't explain what the photos are, but I'm guessing they are clients? This part does absolutely nothing to help other than add pretty pictures.

From giving your dog a bath, to choosing which type of shampoo to use and also which brush or comb, this book really explores all the info you need to know to strengthen the bond through grooming with you and your dog! It's DOG GROOMING 101, the basics that every dog owner should learn. Plus, Jorge writes in a charming, humorous style which makes it easy to follow and entertaining at the same time! I give this book my highest recommendation, it's a MUST READ for dogs owners around the world.

With 3 long haired inside dogs who romp outside with our big dogs on our rural property, I needed instruction on grooming as a money and time saver.

This book is very helpful not only as written but with great photos. A nob such as myself can finally do this! Highly recommend.

In this book, Jorge explains each step of the grooming process in a clear and do-able way. He carefully, with detail, walks you through each step to make this a pleasant and bonding experience for you and your dog. No detail is left unaddressed - he explains everything you need to know - how and why. Some Jorge humor too.
