A short story; closely written in the style of the book the author was inspired by, which also follows the story and timeline of the original tale.

I really enjoyed this short story, and it definitely left me wishing it were a lot longer indeed.

One of those cases where trying to write in pseudo-Shakespearean English completely overwhelms anything that might be good about the story. Thankfully it was free, but it makes me think twice about buying anything else from this author. Other reviewers seem to think this is one of her weaker works, so maybe I'll try something else of hers. Maybe.

Okay, this was just funny. The faux-Shakespeare and general voice of the piece is giggle inducing, since I chose to have fun with it. Lesbian Montague/Capulet slash-fiction? Hell yes, bring it! I'm not sure what the appropriate reaction should be, but something this silly should just exist in it's own subgenre to be appreciated by people who just don't care.

No, I'm not clicking on the dozen other stories linked after it.

Like Shakespeare? Ever wonder what started the feud between the Capulets and the Montagues? Selena Kitt offers one possible answer in this very short tale of lesbian love.

Both wed to older men, Lady Elizabeth Capulet and Lady Catherine Montague find in each other's arms what they lack in their husbands' embraces. Lady Capulet's nurse shares their secret.

I wish I could expound on this plot line, but being that the story is about twelve pages, that pretty much sums it up. A Twisted Bard's Tale presents an entertaining snapshot between two well-known (and yet apparently not) Shakespearean characters. Being a Shakespeare fan, I loved the naughtiness this possible plot line presents. However, I was disappointed in the story's length. I would have liked to have seen it woven through the actual Romeo and Juliet plotline and continue perhaps past the young lovers' deaths. All in all, it's an okay read and at ninety-nine cents, it's considerably cheaper than renting a dirty video (although I doubt I'd hurry out to purchase this tale on its own...).

Although I quite liked this story, and it is labelled as a short story, I thought that it was just a little too short. Just when it seemed to be picking up some substance, and I was having thoughts of what might follow, it stopped. It was almost as if somebody had switched the lights off.

The language used in the writing is archaic, but that may be intentional; to build the atmosphere.

The sex is warm, verging on hot.

Really, all that I can say is that it is something of nothing: a pleasant little story, designed to titillate. Perhaps it is meant to be an appetizer to tempt me into reading more of Selena Kitt's work. Well, I was going to do that anyway, and have already downloaded some of her other books, so that was pointless.

However, it is a freebie, doesn't take more than a few minutes of your time to read, so perhaps you should just do that and decide for yourselves.

Definitely worth the few minutes it takes to read this short story. I love the spin on the feud between the Capulets and the Montagues. Very clever twist on an age-old story. And to think Romeo and Juliet were the first star-crossed lovers...whatever!

I don't typically write reviews, especially if I didn't finish, but this one in particular felt like I really needed to say something. To be completely honest it was really hard for me to get into this story. I've been reading several similar stories and have thoroughly enjoyed about 90% of them. I don't know if it was the style of writing, the characters, or who knows what, but I couldn't get past the first 10 or so pages... I know most people would say I didn't give it a chance, and maybe I didn't, but it was a freebie story so I'm not too worried about it. If it's free for you then I'd say why not try it out for yourself! But I would not recommend purchasing
