Carter’s Story is here. After reading about him and seeing glimpses of who he was and is from Daniel’s story I couldn’t wait to read more about him. And Willow Winters did not disappoint. Carter is a man who gets want he wants and he wants Aria. Their unconventional beginnings lead to an emotionally gripping tale of love, and hurt and pain. This story will make you go through all the emotions up and down and back around for both Carter and Aria. And we are left with a shocking ending before we know how their story will conclude. And while their not so normal love story is taking place, or maybe because of the fact Carter wants Aria, there is an additional factor of the family territory war taking place between three families, two of which are Carter’s and Aria’s families. Add all of this together and you will get the page turning, gripping, suspenseful tale of Carter Cross and Aria Talvery. I can’t wait for the rest of their story!

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of " MERCILESS" This was a dark, twisted, suspenseful story extremely well written by Willow Winters the storyline has page after page of drama three crime familys fighting over territory. Carter Cross and his 4 brothers run one family then you have the Talvery's, and the Romano's both sides want Carter to be on their side in this war but he has his own agenda. Aria Talvery is the daughter of the Talvery's crime family and she gets kidnapped and is being held by Carter he wants her to submit to him so he can claim her as his she saved his life years ago and doesn't even know it and he's obsessed with her. This is a story you just can't out down until finished the characters were all terrific the ending is a bit if a shocker you must read this amazing story to see what happens I highly recommend to get this book you won't be disappointed I can't wait for the next book well done Willow Winters.

How to begin to describe what I felt when I read this book.
Carter is such a strong, cruel character who knows what he wants. Ready to go all the way for Aria to fall at his feet. But on the other hand he is so perfect. He is so emotional so carefully but also merciless.
Aria may seem weak, but the opposite is true. At first we see her fighting and insisting on her. Slowly she opens and understands beyond the wall that stands in front of her, that she can be submissive and accept authority and on the other hand be cured of her wounds.
she is maybe a broken songbird, but she does not understand how much power she has in her hands.
I loved the characters, loved the plot every page and page you drifted into their world. You want more, to know what secrets Carter is hiding what Aria does not know yet.
Willow did it again and again. And now I know i need more from them, so i wait with Patiently.

Merciless by Willow Winters. Carter is a merciless king pin but their is one person who brings out a different side of him. Aria is the daughter of a rival king pin. She has her issues especially since her mother was killed before her very eyes. When she is kidnapped by another rival faction than given to Carter she feels all is lost. Carter has plans for Aria but first he must break her in order to make her his. The process to breaking is cruel at times. An interesting tale of 2 damaged people coming together under strange circumstances. How can they both survive? A turf war had broken out. A kidnapping has taken place and deception is all around. I liked the story and look forward to the next installment. I am curious as to what Carter had in store for Aria plus who and what casualties will result from this war. I give this story 4 stars.

Carter and Aria OMG! This was the best most intense Willow Winters book to date. I couldn’t read their story fast enough and it ended way too soon. Please ma’am may I have some more? The sizzle the steam the sex the love! I need more of Carter and Aria it’s going to take a long time for this one to leave me. Aria is the daughter of a rival mob boss who is kidnapped to be given to Carter who is the head of his “family”. Aria fights Carter with all her strength and will until she can’t fight herself anymore and finds herself falling for him just as deeply as he is falling for her. It’s not about fighting and punishment anymore. Theirs is such an intense story with so much passion and emotion: then the last chapter, holy crap. I need more of their story right now! I loved this book and am freely reviewing it. I wish I could give it more than five stars.

I read this as a ARC review and wow I am always amazed by the books that Willow writes but this one blew me away. So many emotions for one book. My heart broke so many times for Carter and Aria their love story isn't one like a Disney fairy tale but it is a dark depraved story and I believe deep in my heart that Carter has a deep love for Aria. Even thought his means to get her are not what one would consider ideal. Then in order to keep her safe he literally keeps her and in that he almost breaks her. The story along with it is beautifully amazing and only Willow Winters could but the words to paper and have it turn into a amazing work of art like this. I can't wait to see how their story ends. I could not put this book down once I started it. I just can't say enough good things about Willow.

I LURVE everything Willow writes...her skill with creating engaging characters, interesting plot lines, and twists that make you question your own ideas of romance are second to none. Having said that, this one was...something. I would not classify this as romance in any way, not even dark romance (which I enjoy). There's no reasoning why Carter needs to possess/break Aria, so he's just unlikeable the whole time. And Aria is a victim who stayed stronger a lot longer than I would've, but still a victim doing whatever's necessary to avoid the cell. Felt like Stockholm Syndrome, not love or even like. At the end of this one, I was still hoping for Aria to rise up and kill Carter to escape! Still 4 stars for the emotional writing and unique plot, just hoping for a twist in the second part. I'm all for dark and angsty, but want a hea I can believe in by the end. ❤️

I have been anxiously awaiting Carter's story since we caught a glimpse of him in Possessive, Daniel's story. Carter's story is dark and intense. Carter is driven by a need to do what he must for his family no matter how that affects others. Enter Aria, she appears to be just a pawn in Carter's game, but we have much to learn. Carter is a tough character to like, he can be cruel and cold. I feel like we have so much more to find out about him and I am eager to learn. Aria is a complex character, she is stronger than she appears even while, even while she is being broke down. I think that Willow has a way of writing these male characters that are so complex and you know you just shouldn't like them...somehow you start looking for those redeemable qualities. Carter is that for me. This is a darkly delicious story and I can't wait for more!

W. Winters did a great job on Merciless. The book has a great plot and it was well written. I couldn't put this book down. I was on the edge of my seat. The book is filled with different emotions. It's packed with suspense, action, and drama. So much happens in this story. This was a great start to this story. Carter and Aria were strong characters. This was just the start of their story.
Carter didn't care about anything that was going on in his family, all Carter wanted was one thing and that was Aria. What Carter wants, Carter gets. So he stole Aria.
I'm going to stop there. I don't want to give anything away. I suggest reading.
I'm looking forward to reading more of this series.
This was a great story. Thank you, Willow Winters. Great work :)

Ms. Winters...What can I say??? Another fantastic, emotional read. I have been waiting to read Carter's story since Possessive came out. I wondered if you could top Daniel's story, and lady, you did not disappoint. My heart was pounding in my chest the whole time I was reading Merciless. You bring characters and their world to life in a way I wish it were easy to describe.

Carter and Aria...two souls aching and needing. Two people wanting something that is more than just physical, but not knowing what it really is. Two hearts filled with demons that only the other can release.

Carter...there is so much to him. He is the head of a family who do questionable things to even more questionable people. The demons inside him bring out a darkness in him that is screaming to find the one who is a perfect compliment to him and his needs. He is obsessive in his feelings for Aria. He wants her submission and obedience ( I so hate that word ). He wants to save her from the war that is about to start, free her from the demons of her past, and yet wants her tethered her to him all at the same time. Carter wants Aria bound to him...to need him and want him as he does her.

Aria...living in a world she has no choice to live in because of her father. A traumatic childhood that has shaped her into the unbelievably determined woman she is now. Carter takes her from that world, and she wants her freedom from him so badly...so she thinks. She wants to escape, to go back to her family to warn them, and yet she doesn't want to disappoint Carter. Aria has a strength in her she doesn't believe she has.

I went through a gamut of emotions reading this story. Anger, concern, sadness, excitement, and frustration (that feeling is because I want to read the next book right now!). Willow Winters draws her readers into a world that no one ever wants to leave!

Carter Cross is a ruthless businessman with only one desire to possess Aria Talvery. It doesn't matter that he's kidnapped her from her unsuspecting father. Carter only knows that she's his but she just doesn't know it yet. Aria feels like she's broken and no one wants her least of all her father because she reminds him too much of her murdered mother. Can Carter breakdown Aria's walls? Will Aria submit to Carter? Your answers await you in Merciless.

Willow Winters has done it again with this story. The characters and story are bold, rich, real, raw, complicated, honest, mysterious, compelling, and flawed. I'm never disappointed in Winter's storytelling. I look forward to my next adventure with this author. I voluntarily read this ARC for an honest review.

What can I say that hasn’t already been said about Willow’s books?

I do know that she has said over and over that Carter’s story had a hold on her, and wouldn’t let go. After reading this I now know what she meant. I was captivated from the very beginning. It took ahold of me, and wouldn’t let go in a such a way that I literally couldn’t put it down. I read it in one sitting!

Willow has a way of telling a story that makes you feel what exactly what her characters are feeling at the same exact time that they are feeling. Hate. Anger. Lust. Good GAWD, the lust! The steam is off the charts hot!

There will never come a time that I won’t read one of her books!

I was given an arc of this book, and this is my voluntary review.

Merciless by Willow Winters. This is the story of Carter and Aria.
There is a fight brewing between three mafia members. Carter is the head of one and Aria father is the head of another one. Carter wants Aria for his own and another gang trying to make a deal with him takes Aria and give her to him. Carter is hard on Aria making her break but their attraction is one that takes over for them.
Aria is learning to deal with being owned by Carter and the up and coming war that he will ensure kills her father and friend. Although Aria isn't close to her father she has mixed feelings dealing with what is to come.
This was a really dark romance but one that I couldn't stop reading. I can't wait for the next installment in their story.

Two words. Stockholm Syndrome. Not Okay. Inappropriate Relationship. Disturbing Methods. ...take your pick, they all fit this story. Was the story good? It's very well written and most of the characters we've met in previous stories and therefore have a bit of background. Aside from that I'm not sure I could really sink deep into this story without some serious red flags, icky feelings, and extreme reservations. Is the relationship believable? Umm...yes? I mean, Stockholm Syndrome is a real thing, it's been known to happen, documented cases of relationships forming because of forced captivity. So yes, I can believe a relationship would form under these circumstances. Does that translate into a lasting and true romantic relationship that could have formed without the captivity and breaking of wills? No. I don't buy it.

So we have Carter, the eldest brother in the Cross family. He inherited a role he never wanted but still took to it like a duck to water. We meet him briefly when we get Daniel and Addison's story, Possessive, and we see someone cold at the top but has a heart for his family. What we're "tempted" with here is a man without a heart. Someone stone cold with no heart at all. He was forced to be this kind of man and yet he appears to embrace it with all of himself. And yet there's the hope for that cold, cold heart...

Aria Talvery is a casualty of war. At least that's what everyone thinks she'll be. And they're all partially right. Because of the violent interactions between the gangs in their area she's been hiding and now stolen in the name of brokering alliances and negotiations. She's vulnerable, scared, and lonely. Her loyalty is to her father despite knowing what he is and what he does. When her world is turned upside down and she finds herself at the mercy of a merciless man, it'll take an inner strength she has neglected over the years. If she can't find the strength she won't just submit, she'll break beyond repair.

The story takes a really long time to get anywhere. Like, a really, really long time. A lot of it is the plodding of time and the setup for betrayals, gang rivalries, emotional motivations, cryptic backstory, a few points of narrative exposition, and a whole lot of the disheartening inner monologues from both characters. I find Aria shallow and weak. Add in the whole Stockholm business and we've got a shell of a woman who had potential, a girl with a couple of interesting points that could have been developed but haven't been as of yet. And Carter. I wanted so much to like him. To see something more than the incessant assurances that he's a horrible man who only wants to break Aria for his sexual use. There's a whole evolution that we're not getting, in fact, we are barely getting any hints of one on the horizon in the sequel, Heartless, to be coming soon.

Overall I found the story slow-moving, extremely disturbing, the characters seemingly nonredeemable and quite unremarkable, and the "war" to be one that might never come to fruition. With a severe lack of transparency for the audience, us the readers, despite getting both points of view, I'm finding it difficult to want to continue the story. I probably will because I'm a little bit of a glutton for punishment. If only to get more of the siblings so I can have something to look forward to as the Cross brothers each get their own book. So I didn't hate the story, but I didn't like it ether.

Oh my freakin' gosh, I loved this book. I'll tell you up front it does end in a cliffhanger. Carter and Aria's story will continue in Heartless. Carter is definitely a character that I love to hate. He is merciless in the way he treats Aria. Aria is strong, independent and very willful. Their story is tragically beautiful and is filled with intrigue and twists that will keep you turning the pages to the very end. I laughed, I cried, I held my breath and there were even a few times that I wanted to reach into my Kindle and slap the ever loving crap out of Carter. This story has me completely enthralled and I can't wait for Heartless to be released. Willow Winters has once again spun a tale that grabs on to you and doesn't let go. Definitely a must read.

WOW...what a dark romance that doesn’t end with this book. Carter is cold, heartless, emotionless, and merciless, even with Aria, a woman who is the daughter of a rival and a woman he wants to make his in all ways. The story has a dark theme, violence, drugs, murder, kidnaping, some suspense and steamy scenes with a touch of violence...not a read for the faint at heart. I was torn between hating Carter for what he does to Aria and then loving him for what he is willing to do for her and the ending...what did he just unleash in her ??????
My my my now I can’t wait for the next read, hopefully learning more about her dad and especially waiting for the kiss.

Carter is a bad man in a bad business, and when he sets up a situation that will have the other two crime families, who are all fighting for territory, pitted against each other, he orders for Aria to be kidnapped and brought to him. Aria is the daughter of a crime boss, and she is broken and haunted by her life. These two are drawn to each other, but no spoilers; this is a definite must read, you will never be disappointed by this talented authors’ work! This is a well written story which flows seamlessly, and is filled with twists, suspense, and is a dark, raw, gritty, and powerful read, and in turn is a compelling and captivating page turner. This novel ends with a cliffy, and I for one cannot wait to read the next book.

Aria is the daughter of a crime lord and is withdrawn and just wants to draw in her room. Her mother was killed in front of her so she has been traumatized over that. Her drawings get stolen and so she ventures out to try and find them. Her book is very important to her as it has a drawing of her mother which means so much to Aria. Carter is part of another crime family. He plans to take Aria. He trades for her so he can break her and remake her into his own. The emotions within this book are so in depth that you can't help but become enthralled within the story. This is a short story and will continue on in Heartless which I am now eagerly awaiting.

It's strange writing a review for a book you liked when you still feel slightly disconnected from the characters, that's where I'm at.

This book is a dark read where crime families are vying for power and one of their daughters Aria is abducted and given to Carter Cross. For reasons still unknown Carter wants to break her. He's ruthless brutal and feared by many and even when we get to know his thoughts it always feels like he's holding something back.

A story that pulls no punches with it's brutality where twists and secrets are revealed at every turn. I'm hoping we get a deeper insight into Carter in book two.

She thinks he's merciless; and he is. But he is also possesive, protective, obsessed, arrogant, vengeful, patient and in control. He thinks he hates her, but he just hates to want her.
His past damaged him.

He thinks she's guileless; and she is. She is also beautifull, strong, talented, tenacious, scared and lonely. She thinks she hates him, but she just hates to be powerlessly attracted to him.
Her past damaged her.

So they are damaged, but irresistibly drawn together.

I love Willow's writing so much, it's so poignant and vivid you can feel the characters breathe.

Well done yet again! I can't wait for the sequel - so please, Willow, don't be "heartless"!

Merciless will leave you speechless and craving more, a highly addictive new addition to Willow Winters book repitwa.
Willows has written a gripping story line that is brutal, dark, yet beautifully constructed and emotionally it pulls you in.

This is Carter & Aria's story, but this is in no way a hearts and flowers type of book, it is gripping and the angst is off the charts.

A story of greed, want and need that ensures casualties are bound to happen, in this case Aria is this so called casualty. Aria becomes the captive of an extremely powerful, dangerous and posessive man...Carter.
Carter is everything you would come to expect from a captore, ruthless, merciless, hot and sexy as hell!!
How much will one go through to ensure they are released, what are they willing to give for freedom...
I have so many questions left unanswered in regard to Carter, im hoping the next book in the series will give me more insight.
A definate must read!!

Omg!!! Holy Smokes!!! Geez Louise!!! Have I got your attention yet?! This story has me on a major high and just so you know there is more to come! I knew going into this story that Carter Cross was the biggest ass from his brothers but had NO IDEA how much tenderness he hid from everyone...everyone except Aria Talvery. Craving her submission he perceives that her strength can easily broken but she challenges him as makes him EARN her submission.

Willow Winters has created the illusion that Carter Cross is such a complicated man when in actuality, he is just like every other man and just wants to be loved. Albeit, going on about it in some unorthodox ways, but the pull between him and Aria is just too good!

Ugh!!! How long must we wait for that kiss Willow!! I’m dying!! If you want some suspense and some hotness combined Carter and Aria’s story is totally worth it!!

Aria Talvery was born and raised in a crime family. When she was eight years old she witnessed the murder of her mother which has left her wounded to this day. She is highly protected and rarely leaves her home but when the one thing she loves, her sketchpad, goes missing she leaves her sanctuary to find it never realizing the trap that was being laid out for her.

Carter is the eldest brother of the Cross family drug cartel. He has set a plan in motion to have Aria kidnapped for his own reasons and he is prepared to join forces with another crime family to ensure that this happens, and that Aria will be his.

Aria is inexperienced but she has an inner strength one wouldn’t expect and although at times it frustrates Carter it also challenges him and makes him more determined to bend her to his will. This is a dark suspenseful ride that leaves you wanting more. Heartless can’t come soon enough. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book

This rating is a bit hard for a few reasons. I loved the writing. I loved the storyline and the plot. I think the pace of the writing was wonderful. Even though there were some scenes that were a bit tough to read, they played into the storyline amazingly. My issue is I couldn’t really feel the connection between Carter and Aria.

Carter was a struggle for me to like. He was sexy and charming. You could tell that he loved his brothers. But how he treated Aria at times, was really difficult to read.

Aria was a lost girl. She was doing what she needed to do to survive but I think her brain started

to play tricks on her as time went on. I’m glad there are more books so maybe I can find that connection between Carter and Aria in a later book, because I struggled finding it in book one. Also, I hope Carter can redeem himself in my eye.

What a wonderful book. The way Ms Winters is able to weave so much into a story is amazing. Carter and Aria are awesome. Carter definitely has a dark side to him and Aria is so sheltered to what the world she lives in is all about. Yes, she knows her father is not a good man but she knows little else. She is damaged from what happened to her mother and doesn't even know it. Carter has his own past he is dealing with in regards to Aria's father and what happened to him and how it involves Aria. Something she isn't even aware of. Deep down Carter only wants to protect and love Aria. He feels a strong connection with her and at times he doesn't seem to understand what it all means. Carter desperately wants Aria to not fear him and to trust that everything he does he does for her. Once I started reading their story I could not put it down. I can not wait to read the rest of Carter and Aria's story. It seems that it can only get better from here.

"Merciless" is a story of darkness and the breaking down of a human being that will have the reader holding their breath as they turn the pages to see Carter and the human conditioning of Aria. A story that is not for the faint of heart, Carter and Aria's story will suck you in, and if you don't feel any of the angst as you read, then you missed out and this is not a subject matter for you. The descriptions are vivid and gut-wrenching of an innocent that is caught between powerful men that can be heartless and cruel. Their story is dark and unforgiving as the Carter and Aria weave their journey into a HFN ending that left this reader thinking, "OMG what did I just read?" Looking forward to reading more of the Cross brothers and family dynamics, I would like to thank the author for gifting me with "Merciless" My opinion is my own. This is mine. 5 Stars!

First off, this is NOT a standalone. Fair warning for when you get to the end..
Secondly, it’s dark. I know to expect, under her pen name W. Winters, a more dark and gritty story full of suspense and drama. This definitely surpassed that expectation.
It was a book that I really enjoyed, especially because I am a huge fan of this author, but it was a bit on the darker side than I typically like. As I said before, I knew it would be but still a bit more than what I find that I enjoy more. The characters were kind of hard for me to get into but at the same time I didn’t want to put the book down because I wanted to see what journey she was taking these characters on..
Waiting, impatiently, for the next book to see where she goes with Carter and Aria.

OMGOSH- Willow has blown me away with this read. It is dark and compelling. I basically did nothing the day I read this book. I couldn’t put it down at all. This story is about Aria and Carter. Poor Aria is tormented after watching someone kill her mother right in front of her. Her father is a criminal. Aria is kidnappped by enemies of her father. Carter makes a trade for her but he doesn’t do this to set her free, he wants her and he wants to break her and Carter is a merciless man. This is an intense read. You’ll need your big girl panties but trust me, you won’t be able to put it down. This is only the second book I didn't do the "ugly cry" that I have given 5 stars to. Why? Because it did give me ALL the feels and it took two days to collect my thoughts. I was so conflicted about my feelings for Carter, and because I had such strong feelings for Carter (good and bad) and Aria, I knew I was in trouble! I was all in, and the closer I got to the end of the book, the slower I read. I didn't want to miss one word, one feeling or one thought. The ending is a cliffhanger BUT the next book is already out!! And as soon as I can get my greedy little fingers on it, I will!! I definitely recommend this book, so get ready for Carter & Aria! Enjoy!!

I’m just floored by this book. This is a dark romance and it’s honestly amazing, but, you have to be a dark romance fan. Carter is just freaking intriguing, And Aria is damaged, but she’s there, just under the surface, she’s feisty, and Carter’s attractionto her and his need to heal her is what this story is about. This story will make you a little uncomfortable, but what is reading if we aren’t a little uncomfortable once in a while? You will want to know and understand Carter’s endgame. I think readers should know Willow Winters is a fabulous writer, and I fully trust her in her writing process and I always know this will be explained. Thanks again for another amazing book!

Wow! Willow Winters has outdone herself with Merciless. A combination of angst, drama, domination, brutality and more that keeps the pages turning.

Carter Cross is the oldest of the Cross siblings and head of their business. Aria Talvery is the daughter of his enemy and now she's his. He is Dominate and in control. He will do anything to break Aria down and make her realize where she belongs. Aria doesn't see herself as weak and broken until she's given to Carter. The longer they are together, the more she becomes his.

This isn't your typical romance, but Carter and Aria draw you in from the beginning. I can't wait for their story to continue in Heartless.

This is the second book in the series it’s Carter’s story. In his story you meet Aria the woman who is his or at least in his mind she is and nothing will change that. Carter is a strong alpha dominant male and Aria is also strong willed, stubborn and won’t back down. They clash but in such a good way! I won’t say more because I don’t want to risk spoiling anything for anyone.

With a war between three families being eminent, there is bound to be casualties, and this case is no exception. Especially when it comes to the Cross and Talvery family. Carter Cross has set his eyes on Aria and he will not let anything stop him from having her. When Aria is kidnapped and forced to live in a cell with only interaction with Carter, she passion for him begins to grow as abhorrent as it seems. When Carter begins to give her little bits of freedom here and there, she must make the decision of life or death, life with Carter or death of her and her family.

MERCILESS by Willow Winters

5⭐️/5

I received Merciless as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. If you like mafia romances this book is for you. Carter Cross and his brothers was born into a life of crime. Aria Talvery was also born into into a life of crime.
As ruthless as he can be, Carter will do whatever it takes to protect Aria including making his enemy his friend. He is willing to start a turf war to do it.
I will have to say, Willow nailed Carter and Aria’s story. This book may not be for all readers, with its deep dark plot while it does have its romantic side that only she could put together.

Willow has done it again! I read this book, walked away to settle my emotions, then turned around and read it again....it is THAT GOOD! Carter is so much more than I expected. He is haunting, dynamic, sexy as sin and broken in the right way. I love to hate him, hate to love him and still love him all the same. Aria is his undoing and she is amazing. I'm not going to lie, Carter makes this story, the angst, passion, hate, love, and everything in between. I will be impatiently waiting for Heartless because well, more Carter! Carter is a ruthless man used getting what he wants. He wasn’t always like this but a traumatizing experience as a young man, forged him into what he has become. He knows there is a war coming from two different groups. He uses that to get the one person he’s always wanted. Aria has one prized possession and when that’s taken, she tries to find person who took it. Will Carter get who he wants? If he does will he do as everyone expects? Will Aria ever see her prized possession again? This book had me on edge of my seat the whole way, getting ready to dive into second book, I can’t wait!

This book by Willow Winters left me completely breathless. Carter is a man you love to hate. When he sets his mind on something he wants, he takes it on no holds barred. Carter has his sights on Aria. He knew she was his Achilles heel, but he could not stop himself from making her his and only his. Aria is the only chink in Carter's armor and he hates himself for it.

Aria is stronger than she appears as she holds the key to Carter's soul and his torment. This story is remarkable and stunning on so many levels. I look forward to reading the next book to see how everything unfolds for Carter and Aria.

On one hand this story was engaging and draws you in. On the other if feels a bit slow. You don't get a full understanding behind his motives and the extremes he went to. Im hoping there will be a little more give in that area in the second part of this duet.

Merciless is a dark romance (?) filled with lies and deceit and is not your typical love story. Willow has built great tension and intensity into the story which pulls on your emotions, and there are many unanswered questions. I wasn’t enamored by either Carter or Aria but perhaps that will change when I learn more about their backstories and the questions are answered, but it is unique and a good story none the less.

Willow gives us a book that takes us on the edge of war between three families and gives us a glimpse into Carter’s psyche that leaves you wanting more and more with each page you turn. Why is he doing this, what is his obsession with Aria? I think if I had a little more information I would have given it five stars , as always it’s well written and can’t wait for the next book to see what happens.......

Oh my gosh! I have been waiting for this book ever since I got a glimpse of Carter in Possessive and it was worth the wait. Dark, so much darker than Possessive, and you find yourself tensing up a lot, but you can’t put it down either. Carter is so intense and Aria is so broken, but their attachment to each other defies everything and everyone else. Great story, as per usual, Ms. Winters never disappoints.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend…”

Aria Talvery is the daughter of the most violent crime family around. She becomes a casualty when she is abducted and then given to Carter Cross to start a war.

Carter sees an opportunity to get everything he’s ever wanted when an enemy of the Talvery family approaches him. He agrees to help the faction but only IF they meet his demand.

“The best laid plans…”

Carter does not do anything without a reason. He is cold calculating and merciless. But, he starts to change his plans the more time Aria spends as his unwilling captive. He realizes how broken she is but he cannot and will not let her go. As days pass, Aria works her way under his skin. His cool demeanour thaws while the passion between them explodes. But, passion does not equal love or freedom and that’s what Aria needs and wants most.

Will Carter ever become merciful enough to set her free?

This book was phenomenal! It is a darkly thrilling, exciting and engaging read. It is told in dual POV. The pace is perfect and the story flowed so well, upping the angst and the thrill as it progressed. I was riveted. It is a little different from this author’s normal writing style, leaning more towards “romantic thriller”, but I relished it nonetheless. It is also the second book in a series of standalones that are interconnected.

Time ceased to exist as I read this book. I was consumed throughout. There was so much tension in this book that you could cut it with a knife. The desire between the characters was palpable.

The writing pulled me in and kept me engaged. In alternate parts of this book, my breath came ragged and shallow due to the anticipation while others I held in my breath with dread. Not to mention fanning myself from the scorching hot sex scenes!

As for the characters, Carter was a sexy, obsessive and possessive man. He was more of an antihero but I loved his character and his possessiveness. Aria is broken from a past trauma and she is a strong as she can possibly be, considering. Her character was well-written and I found myself feeling for her plight and having my stomach drop in fear for her.

This is an all encompassing read about setting yourself free and facing your fears. The story resonated with me. What Carter does for Aria and how this author wrote it was masterful. I absolutely loved it!

At the end of the book, I felt at odds with myself. I didn’t want this story to end and I guess I got what I was looking for because of the cliff-hanger ending but GRRR!!! I don’t want to wait! I’m so excited to continue their story in the upcoming book Heartless!

Recommended to those who like passionate romance with a dark thrill.

I received an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Oh MAN! Willow! I need Heartless, right this second! Merciless is so good. And I mean SO good! I found it to be darker than the stories I have recently read from Willow, but also one of her best stories. I am serious when I say that every time I read a Book written by a Willow it gets better and better! I now wait with bated breath for the release of Heartless.

Carter is so serious. He is the oldest of the Cross boys, and it seems he is the one with the most invisible scars. He is hard, formidable, possessive, and ruthless. But deep down I feel that he just wants Aria’s love more than anything. I just feel like he is going to show his true feelings for her in the second part of this story.
Aria is so sad and broken. The daughter of the enemy, now at the mercy of Carter. I felt so sad for her throughout the story. I would love to say more about her but I like to write spoiler free reviews.

This book had me hooked as soon as I opened it. The anticipation of what was going to happen next kept me intrigued. The story flows so well which makes it a pleasure to read. As much as I loved Little Liar and Possessive, Merciless would have to be Willow’s best book yet, and my favourite. I really could not get enough of Carter and Aria’s story. I know it’s going to be a painful wait for Heartless to be released, but I can not wait to get my hands on it just so I can see where the story goes next! How many more twists and turns can Willow take us on? I’m ready for the ride of my life! I received an early copy of this book. Opinions expressed are my own.

"All of her. Every piece of her is mine and she knows it."
~Carter~

You can feel the sadness and despair from Aria, and the conflict from Carter, even as they both try to deny what they feel and want from the other. Carter wants her, but he doesn't know for what exactly. He says he wants to own her, but he doesn't know if it's more than in a sexual way. He doesn't want to admit the depth of his feeling for her. As for Aria, the first time she saw Carter she thought he was going to save her. Didn't take long for that perception to change, but it didn't stop her from wanting him. She doesn't believe it to be right so she fights it, fights him. On one hand at times, she wants nothing more than to escape, then the other she wants to kneel at his feet and do as he asks, as he commands. While they have undeniable chemistry, and Aria can submit to Carter, and he can command her like she craves, it's hard for them to find a balance in between what they want and what has to be done. Carter for his family and his business, Aria for her sanity and safety. Willow Winters knows how to write a dark, angsty book that keeps you flipping the pages to see how the story plays out, and this one is a twister. This book isn't the end of Aria and Carter's story, and I know I'm going to be waiting on the edge of my seat for the next part. I'm glad I got to review this book for Willow and I hope you pick it up to read. It's one I highly recommend.

WOW! Merciless was a gripping read! I was so addicted to Carter and Aria's story! I have been dying for a piece of Carter ever since I read Possessive and Hot Damn am I so glad it's finally here! Everyone has a Choice, but sometimes Choices are taken from you and Fate steps in! Carter's given a gift, he's taken a deal that he never saw coming. Aria has her own sad story and boy did my heart bleed for her. Carter is the master of control and he always gets what he wants, he wants Aria. Aria becomes so much more than his pawn, a beautifully broken piece in this War. Merciless was full of heart breaking revelations and thrilling suspense. But it was also sexy and sensual. Carter and Aria have a intense relationship, it's both scary and intriguing. You just can't help but want more. Carter is dangerous, a man you don't want to cross, but Aria makes his human. I have to say Carter is my favorite brother so far! I did enjoy the bits I got of Daniel in this book, and I loved that we get a bit more of the other two brothers. Nothing could have prepared me for that ending!! I'm still dying! Ugh!! Can't wait to see what Willow has for us next! She never disappoints to make you fall in love with her characters and give you a story you will be stewing on for days! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I warred with myself over how to rate this book so I took a step back and really examined it and you can see I did choose the full five stars. For the simple fact that it’s very well written and the dark scenes sort of emanate within while reading, it deserves all five stars. Merciless is an apt description.

This book skirts the very edge of the romance boundary, I would call it more of a psychological thriller versus anything romantic. It was gut wrenching to read, but in a good way. A way that made me feel and think and consider. By the time I reached the end of the book I am seeing more of the deeper reasons Carter chose to do what he did. For Carter to understand Aria and choose this particular method he would really have to love her in intense, existential way. That kind of love is romantic in its own twisted reality. It sort of ended in an odd place and I’m not sure what to make of that, however I’m glad that the story is continuing for another full book because the characters desperately need it. Dark, gritty, and full of themes that may make some uncomfortable yet still something worth reading. It’s worth exploring this intensely unconventional world that Willow Winters has created.

What happens when a merciless, cold, calculating man with an iron control on his life and emotions meets a broken woman with a traumatized past? Magic! That is a perfect way to describe the relationship between Carter and Aria. I was instantly taken by Carter. I always have a soft spot for hard, seemingly cruel and heartless men who thaw once they meet the right woman. Carter initially wants nothing to do with Aria. He is to only be her captive, but the longer he spends with her, the more he starts to think it will be impossible to ever let her go. A woman like Aria and the emotions she stirs in him could be the ruin of a man like him. He knows that, but it doesn't matter, she weaves a spell he cannot escape from. Aria has a strength that contradicts the horror of her past. She comes from a world where women are only seen as pawns in the games the ruthless men they encounter play. She is broken because of her past, but Carter begins to heal her in unexpected ways. This is packed full of actions, suspense and angst and the ending has me chomping at the bit for the conclusion in the next book.

Willow Winters, I both love you and envy the thoughts in your incredibly powerful mind. As a master of her craft, Ms. Winters, has just left me hanging in the most delicious way! Merciless is a mafia book that will have you as riveted to these pages as I was. This book is pure perfection and the hate/love relationship between Carter Cross and Aria is superbly written. My Lord, this read is my favorite of Ms. Winters and I am waiting with bated breath for the next one.

Aria is freed from her gilded cage by betrayal but I sense there is so much more to this terrific storyline then meets the eye. I can only guess which way this story will go but I can not wait to devour it. She altered his life and he'll make her pay but how he does it is through a clear and beautifully designed love.

A must read book if ever I have read one. Can't wait to see if the remaining Cross Brothers have books. I was incredibly fortunate to have requested an advanced reader's copy of Merciless in exchange for my honest opinion and adored ever single word. Top notch quality book.

New branding and new stories from the fantastic W Winters!

Merciless, the story of Carter and Aria is dark, twisted and oh so good.  Like a piece of devils food cake, rich and decadent.

There is such mystery in the story, right from the start and Ms. Winters lets you have just little nibbles of it, making you want more and more.

Aria is sheltered, but she doesn't realize how much she was until she is given to Carter.

Carter blames her in his own twisted way of becoming the man that he is, but was she really? You need to read this story to find out.

The relationship that develops between Carter and Aria is mind bending and oh so steamy! You can feel the desperation in Aria and the patience in Carter.

Readers will get a surprise at the end that you won't see coming and it will grab you and hold on until Ms. Winters is ready to let you go.

This is a page turner, this is a story you need to read slowly and savor so you don't miss anything!

5 Stars!

This title fits perfectly!! This book was amazing!! Loved it from start to finish. It was definitely a page turner and leaves the reader in a whirlwind of emotions wondering what the outcome will be.

This is the second book in the series it’s Carter’s story. In his story you meet Aria the woman who is his or at least in his mind she is and nothing will change that. Carter is a strong alpha dominant male and Aria is also strong willed, stubborn and won’t back down. They clash but in such a good way! I won’t say more because I don’t want to risk spoiling anything for anyone.
by the author!

This is a beautiful, intense, and suspenseful story you can’t put down.

It has cliffhanger and there was no warning. Also to have her want her abuser is ridiculous, especially since he will be complicit in murder of family. There was nothing to make me like him, an anti-hero. She seems pathetic, not strong.
