This book is a real page turner, absolutely one of the best. The characters are true-to-life especially Nick! You'll surely fall in love with him because of the way Judith McNaught describes him, the ultimate dream man! The story is truly extrodiary because who knows it can happen to you! :)

My heart goes out to the poor yet admirable heroine;the vulnerable hero deserves our understanding too.The moral of the romance is
to be frank with your loved ones, and never jump
to conclusions.

This was such an awesome book. I love books where the man makes a mistake or gets a wrong impression and has to grovel. It is so sweet the way he makes it up to her. I recommend anyone buy this book. . .and some tissue!

I love this book. It was a absolute pleasure. Never have I found a book that was good from begining to end. I was never Judith McNaught book fan before until a friend gave it to me. But now I'am a bonefide fan.

Double standards was the second book I read of Judith. The first was Perfect ( which I personally think is a disaster ) and I conditioned myself that I will be disappointed in DS too but boy - did she prove me wrong. I love this book and I really can't put it down besides it was kinda short. It made me cry and wish I could find the love Lauren has with Nick. She is such a witty character. I especially love the "Bed room olympic" remark she said to Nick. I really believe that who ever read this book will fall in love with both Nick and Lauren. Although I wish though that Judith will make a story of Vicky and Jim.

This book was wonderful. The story about how Nick's mother abandoned him when he was a little boy was so sad and made me cry. I believe that a lot of people could relate to this story. I also believe that the twists and turns in this story were incredible. This is my second book from Judith Mcnaught and I have become a fan. I plan on reading all her books. As for this book I could not put it down I read the entire book in three days! I recommend this book to everyone.

I am usually a very hard-to-please romance\fiction reader, however, this book without a doubt is one of the best that I've ever layed my eyes on! This is definitely for keeps! Oh and all that negative criticism on this remarkable story...ignore it for you can not always please everyone. Troughout time, even the best of works couldn't escape criticism (as undeserving as they were). Keep up the good work Judith!

The first book I ever read by Judith McNaught was Perfect, and it was just that, but this book is even better! I'd suggest this book to anyone. If you have never read one of McNaught's novels, this is a great on to begin with. If you have read McNaught before, you'll love her work even more after reading this book!

This is a below average Judith McNaught novel, however, her worst efforts are better than most other romance novelists better efforts.
I just didn't buy in to the reason why it was soooooooo very @#!@ difficult for the hero and the heroine to tell each other the truth.
She is a bit of a doormat, and he is a flaming personality disorder- a match made in Axis II heaven.

I love Judith McNaught. HOWEVER, I don't like this book she wrote because of all the reasons that the other one star reviewers mentioned. Nick did treat Lauren like crap. How can any woman fall in love with a jerk like Nick? From the very first time he was mentioned, I just thought that he was a jerk! Please read another Judith McNaught book instead of this one.

I must disagree with nearly all of the other comments.
The plot device used in this book to get Lauren to have to spy on Nick is thinner than anything I've ever seen. Both of them are SO unprofessional.
How did Lauren stay a virgin up to this point in her life if it takes so little for her to sleep with Nick? I think his reaction was probably rational if a little cold.
There were so many moments in this book that resembled other little moments in JM's other books. She cannot write a totally new, original book. And she also takes up a good chunk of space in every book recounting the entire love affair during The Separation. There's always a Separation in every story of hers.
