My early impression is that the book is thorough, well researched and presents a very plausible hypothesis, but it seems a bit disjointed in that there could be clearer distinction between hard evidence and anecdotes. I may have a more detailed comment after further study

Van Sertima reveals the blatant need for examination of what existed before the present state of specific countries, etc
I have enjoyed Ivan Van Sertima in many lectures including in person. He was driven to reveal the covered up issues of earlier populations and the fact that Africans from abroad traveled to the 'New World' to bring and exchange culture long before Columbus 'discovered'. His lectures are full of concrete, hard evidence of his claims.

I was looking for a factual representation on the history of Africans in America before Columbus which the author produced. However, the author's personal inferences are too lengthy and add little to the quality of the content.

this is a very staright up book written to enhance the mind and spirit of how our history has been changed to suit those who seek to twist the truth. the author is very great with capturing the truth which has existence in history without its proper credits due or place in america.

Incredible piece of literature. Even after perusing and counter-perusing enormous refutations provided by scholars, ( in which one can spot obvious language intonations of prejudice) profundity and depth of research is unquestionable. If for any reason doubt can be thrown at this masterpiece, then, at the very least it provide a nation of people with a sense of self, direction and purpose - in which stimulation for the future is propitiated.

This book is a must read especially in the African-American community. So much of our true history has been hidden and withheld from our children and the world. We suffer from lack of knowledge. On the anniversary of Columbus' so called discovery of the New World its time for the world to acknowledge the truth about it and the exploitation of people of color by the Colonial European powers of the Fifteenth Century.

Very good book. The negative comments are from people who are trying to stay wrapped in the lies that has been peddled for years. Hell! even white scholars have written about Africans in America before slavery. Get it and read it.

This book is interesting this book leds me to believe that the first peoples in the americas were not mongoloids but negroids because why would mongoloids build face sculptures of melinated negroid people i think they were melinated negroids just like in egypt. I think ivan van sertima knew the original peoples of the americas are called african americans today he just didnt want to start controversy
