The Chronicles of the Black gets better as the story goes on. Book 1 introduced the world, the characters and the religious forces driving the conflict. Book 2 begins to explain the motives and agendas. Great battle scenes and edge of your seat suspense. Looking forwardto more of this story!

Book 2 exceeded my expectations, to my surprise and delight although I must now wait for book 3 to learn the outcome of the different stories and outcomes, and how the will all come, or clash together. I definitely recommend the prequel and both books to others.

I really dig this series! Fast paced story, characters that leap off the pages into reality and a world familiar and foreign. I cannot wait for the next installment, but I must! What next, Mr. Tucker??? Give me my literary fix!
Rosario+Vampire: Season II, Vol. 14 :: Return to the Little French Guesthouse (La Cour des Roses) (Volume 2) :: Until There Was Us (Montgomery Brothers) :: Biker's Bride: A Bad Boy Romance (Demons MC) :: Sylvester and the Magic Pebble

The author has a well developed unique world with multiple plot lines. Each plot line has major characters that are interconnected with each other. They seem to be careening to resolution. A fascinating read.

Really surprised by this series. I was turned off by the typical graphics of the first books cover, but I'm really glad I went beyond it. The world is very interesting and well done. The characters are well developed. And there are enough twists in the plot that I couldn't quite be sure what was going to happen (cue the sudden but inevitable betrayals!)
Worth the read for sure.

I loved this book. It builds the plot with constant tension and action culminating in a satisfying stupendous final battle. The setting is a fantasy world so well described that you can immerse yourself and imagine that you are there. There are amazing characters that develop, and develop powers and abilities as they do so. I didn't mean to read the book at one sitting, but I couldn't put it down.

This is a story. Anybody can write something that other people will read but only some will write a story that hooks people and resonants with them. This book does that and so does the first one in the series. Great broad story telling. Very enjoyable and anybody who enjoys fantasy and strong characters will enjoy this one. High on recommended list. Will definitely read next one in series.

Fantastically written and well developed characters. Every character is well developed and as a reader, you can easily identify with them and their thoughts and emotions. Eagerly awaiting the next book in September!!
