I am new to essential oils and wanted some basics. Pages 50 and 51 give a few tips. The entire book of about sixty pages is nothing but an advertisement for products complete with product numbers for easy ordering.

Well, the book was good about sharing the author's personal story of healing by detoxifying her life and switching from conventional products to essential oils. She is good at encouraging the reader to jump in and experiment with the oils, and she gives a list of "Challenges" for the reader to complete in order to become more comfortable with the YL starter kit and get some use out of it.
My huge concern is the fake-science mumbo-jumbo included in this book. Three glaring examples jumped off the page at me, and had me laughing out loud, shaking my head in disbelief, and sharing the inane nonsense with my husband. The first is on page 29, where she shares that you need to rotate the oils clockwise in your hand to get the molecules spinning in the same direction as the double helix of your DNA so that the oils can enter your body and just "shoot right up your DNA." Seriously??? Nonsense.
The second example is found on page 33 where the author shares advice from a Dr. David Stewart, that if you don't like an oil, you just need to carry it around in your pocket for 3-4 days until your frequency starts to match. Are you kidding me? I guess I can't fault her entirely for this silliness, since it came from someone else, but she's still responsible for passing this rubbish along!
The final instance of pseudo-science (or should I say anti-science?) is found on page 36, where she is warning readers about oils that are photosensitive. This is an important warning, but the reason she gives for the oils being dangerous is the most preposterous nonsense that any school-aged child who has studied photosynthesis could easily rebuke. She claims that the photosensitivity is happening because the part of the plant that photosynthesizes is preserved in the oil, and when the sunlight hits it, "it wants to photosynthesize on your arm!" Please. Stop. OK, I learned back in 6th grade that the part of the plant responsible for photosynthesis is chlorophyll. It is green. It is found in leaves. The oils that are most commonly photosensitive are citrus oils. The oils are not made from the leaves, they are made from the rind/peel of the fruit. There is no chlorophyll in the oil - if there were, it would be green. And even if there were still chlorophyll present, it would not "want to photosynthesize on your arm!" This is not why these oils are photosensitive. From an article found on ScienceDirect Topics: "The phototoxic action of the furanocoumarins is due to their ability to react with nucleobases in DNA under the influence of UV-A radiation."
I am honestly surprised that nobody from Young Living has read this book and called the author out on spreading false science. YL is a company with the highest in quality control standards and incredible scientific knowledge and capabilities. I think it hurts the company for this book to be propagating such falsehoods with the name of Young Living everywhere throughout the book, from the front cover to the very last page.

LOVED this book! Read in one sitting! So motivating and informative. It does not tell how how to use each oil, it tells you HOW to use oils. And why chemicals in your home and food need to go! I just bought 5 more books to give to anybody that wants to learn more! I just want people to have this information!!
How the Duck Commander Teen Keeps It Real and Stays True to Her Values :: A Coach's Guide to Powerful Asking Skills - Coaching Questions :: An Encyclopedia of Your Energetic Anatomy - The Subtle Body :: Stories and Recipes from My Corner of the South - Deep Run Roots :: Comic Coloring Activity Book - Ted Cruz to the Future

This is a great book for an Essential Oil beginner. While I'm not a newbie to EOs, I wanted to read this before handing it off to one of my new members—as well as being able to reliably recommend it to others down the road, which I certainly will.
Sarah Harnisch presents a no-nonsense hands-on approach to using essential oils by diving right in and doing—while providing guidance and safety information along the way. Challenge action items encourage the reader to step out and try new things while learning interesting tidbits along the way. A fun, light read that for a new user can be used as a guide to help them get the most of all the oils in their starter kit*.
*The oils discussed are specific to the Young Living Starter Kit prior to March 2018 when 2 of them were swapped out for different oils (RC and Purification for Raven and Citrus Fresh). There may be an update to this book down the road that incorporates these starter kit changes.

Sarah shares her heart and her passion for her LORD and HIS oils on her 101 CD! She has an amazing story she shares about her early years of marriage with 5 children. Sarah decides to research information on her own after her doctor's report is filled with little hope. This journey leads her to Young Living! Sarah, thank you for your selflessness and sharing your resources with the whole world. You ROCK!! I recently have been using them for my cold market and I look forward to the Harvest!
Fearless is a wonderful tool that I give to people who have just bought their Premium Starter Kit!
