Excellent address of many current psychological ideas that are all over contemporary culture, from a Biblical perspective. Excellent clear guidance for an issue that I have dealt with for a long time and still do, but now with more clarity on God's call to fear him and love others. Useful for anyone!

Makes you realize that we care so much about what people think about us that we forget that the most important person who actually matters is what God thinks about us. Then we remember, then we forget and the reasons why we forget. I recommend this book in addition to your daily bible reading.

Great book. Especially the last few chapters. One of those books where the title makes you understand the book almost immediately but you reading the book helps you see it played out. One of my favorite parts is the rejection of the 5 Love Languages and subtly seeing people as things to fill your needs. Remember, we are to need less and love more.

I cannot express how much this book has changed my walk with God, knowing that it has been a very long time that I have allowed people and their opinions of me be my idols instead of God being my God. I have new found confidence and a healthy fear of God now and my fear of people and their opinions of me have greatly lessened.

This book was amazing! I walked away from this empowered by the fear of God and scripture. Many Christian books have you walking away with what the author said, but this book drove me to the bible and what God said. I recommend to anyone!!

The book's cover and first few chapters could give a person the wrong idea, but go ahead, buy this book, and read it through to the end. In my opinion, any book that amplifies biblical principles is well worth the time and money and this one excels at that. Dr. Welch masterfully builds his case throughout each chapter resulting in a solid case for revering Almighty God and Him alone. The previous reviews below detail this out for you. If you already practice 'the fear of the Lord', you can pass on this book; otherwise, buy one, read it and begin benefiting from all God has for you! You will begin to see the reoccurring theme of the 'Fear of the Lord' in almost every book in the Bible and the promises to those that do fear or respect God *above all else*.

Anyone who is honest will find this topic relevant in their life. Welch exposes our tendency to be trapped into pleasing people instead of pleasing God. I have purchased 6 copies of this book to give away in the last 5 months and I will give away more in the next year.

I really appreciated the content of this book. This is a Hugh problem for most everyone. He does a great job exposing the problem. I would have liked a little more on how to solve the problem...but I guess fearing God more than somes it up!
