Mary Connealy’s newest book The Accidental Guardian will keep you guessing as the suspense rises and the action swirls faster than the coming winter blizzards onto Trace’s mountain ranch! I absolutely loved the way that Connealy introduces the characters in the first chapter. She starts the action with a bang and keeps it going throughout the whole book!
Trace and Deborah hit it off, too. For the most part, I enjoyed their growing relationship, though sometimes it felt a bit too fast and convenient. Trace, though, was a stellar character. He reminded me of someone from Blue Lagoon in the best kind of way – his total isolation as a teen and adult had left him a complete innocent in the ways of relationships between adults. That is the kind of character one doesn’t read about every day, and it made every small interaction between Trace and Deborah extra exciting.
While I’ve enjoyed several of Connealy’s stories in the past and know that she writes Christian fiction, I was pleasantly surprised by the spiritual lessons she built into The Accidental Guardian. I felt as if many of them came from unexpected sources, and that made them even sweeter.
I didn’t want to put The Accidental Guardian down. If you enjoy historical fiction with unusual twists, give The Accidental Guardian a read – you’ll love it!

The Accidental Guardian has a different slightly more serious tone than some of Ms. Connealy's previous books. It still contained elements of her sarcastic humor readers have come to love, but it erred more on the solemn side. I believe this showed her growth as an author and presented readers another side of herself.

I hope others find Ms. Connealy's character Trace to be as charming and chivalrous as I did.

Another good book by Ms. Connealy. Lighthearted humor with enough mystery to keep it interesting. Deborah takes her responsibility of protecting her younger sister and the two young children in her care seriously. She will do anything to keep them safe. Trace is trying to find the men who murdered his pa and others along the wagon train trail. He does what is necessary to keep them safe. He comes upon Deborah and takes them to his ranch. Then the fun begins.

I highly recommend this book for everyone.

The Accidental Guardian is the first novel in the brand new High Sierra Sweethearts series by Mary Connealy. This is my first read by this author, but it certainly won’t be my last! Beginning with the gorgeous cover, this cowboy story drew me. I enjoyed the author’s writing style as she seamlessly wove one scene into the next often using a single word or thought to move us right from one character’s point of view into a different character’s point of view.
These characters struggle with letting go of the past and while certain events may have shaped their lives, they must learn that those things don’t have to control them.
“She was strong enough and it burned in her, the desire to prove to the whole world—even a world that would never know—that she had always been the one in charge.”
The children Maggie Sue and Robbie are just precious, and I am looking forward to finding out what happens to them in book two.
“The little girl’s laughter helped settle Deb’s stomach. She glanced at Trace and said, “There’s still laughter in the world.”
There were several hilarious scenes as three bachelors adjust to having women and children in their home. Trace has had very little experience with women and he is pretty sure he’s lost his mind when he decides to help them. My favorite character is this book is Trace. I loved his interactions with his “friends.”
“Leaning low so he wouldn’t be overheard, he rubbed Black’s shoulder and said to his friends, “These four aren’t the only ones who need help.”
I did feel that the romance between the two main characters was a little rushed and not quite believable. The story conflict seemed to resolve too easily. However, this book ends with a cliff-hanger, so there is more to come for Trace, Deb, Gwen, Adam, and Utah. I can’t wait! This story is a sweet, clean romance with adventure, gun-slinging cowboys, a horse named Black, and a dog named Wolf, what more could you want?

The Accidental Guardian is the latest from Mary Connealy. The year is 1867 and the main character, Deborah Harkness and her sister Gwen, have survived an attack on their wagon train. The robbers think they have left no survivors; however, Deborah and Gwen had been hiding in the woods, with two young children!

Soon Trace Riley comes upon the scene and instantly knows that he must move fast to get these four to the safety of his ranch. Once these newcomers are settled in, Trace and his ranch hands quickly begin to build new housing. Once the snows begins to fall, everyone will be trapped in until spring!

Trace has served as the "guardian" of this frequently used trail to the west, keeping travelers safe from harm on their journey to a new life. Trace knows the danger that exists in these hills, for as a young boy traveling west, a train wreck left him alone to learn to survive in this rugged world. Trace sees signs in this latest train attack that remind him of the attack he himself survived!

Watch as Trace and Deborah attempt to locate these robbers to bring them to justice. You will see them both trust in their God in the midst of some very precarious situations!

This book will have you looking forward to the next book in this series!

Mary Connealy’s new series, High Sierra Sweethearts, starts with a bang when Deborah Harkness, her sister, and two charges end up stranded in the middle of nowhere, the rest of their wagon train massacred and burned. Trace Riley comes to the rescue, thankfully, and the story that follows is full of entertaining, sweet, and dangerous moments as they all figure out what to do next.

From Trace and his men to Deb, Gwen, and the children, the main characters are all likeable (and the bad guys equally hateable). The more I discovered the struggles that Trace and Deb have, as well as their reliance on faith through it all, the more relatable they, especially, became. Though they do have a few conversations that feel repetitive and express a few worries that only get vague closure, I enjoyed reading through the ups and downs of their story.

The Accidental Guardian is a fun Western adventure and romance. Readers looking for an inspirational and entertaining read, add this book to your TBR list.

I have always enjoyed books by Mary Connealy. Her quirky sense of humor always brightens my day. In “The Accidental Guardian”, the first book in the author’s latest series, the humor is still there but has taken a more subtle tone in my opinion. I sense a change of direction in her writing that includes characters with even more depth than before.

I particularly enjoyed reading about Trace and learning how his experiences and loss as a young teen shaped him into the man he had become – a man full of compassion and a determination to protect others from the heartache he had suffered. I also liked Deborah who was the perfect match for Trace. It was fun watching their relationship develop as Trace learned how to cope with both women and children for the first time.

Steady plot with enough action, danger, humor, and romance to hold my attention. As always the author has managed to blend in a message of faith and encouragement for her readers. I highly recommend “The Accidental Guardian” and look forward to “The Reluctant Warrior” to learn what happens next in the lives of these characters.

The Accidental Guardian by Mary Connealy is the first book in her new series High Sierra Sweethearts and it pulled me in from the first page.

The main character, Trace Riley, a victim of a wagon train massacre at a young age, finds another train massacre with four survivors - two women and two children. He rescues them and takes them to his home. Winter is setting in though and he wants to find the killers because he believes they are the same ones who killed his father and others so many years ago.

While it was interesting to see what people went through during this period of time, the relationship with Deb and Trace felt flat to me. And the ending made me feel as if the publisher forgot to put the rest of the pages in the book. It left an unsatisfied feeling. I was also amazed at how fast three men (at times only one man) could build a house. This did not seem realistic to me.

Overall, the story was interesting and the book is well written with some very tense moments. If you like historical romances set in the West, you would probably enjoy this one.

Deb and her sister Gwen are heading to California to start fresh when their wagon train is attacked. The sisters, along with two young children, are the only survivors. When Trace Riley comes across the scene, he realizes that the attackers, who have now fled, are the same ones who killed his father and the rest of his wagon train years before. While he has honed his skills as a tracker and knows he could find and bring to justice their murderers, first he must get Deb and her little group to safety. Having not been around many women in his life, Trace isn't sure at first how to even talk to one--but he quickly finds that he likes having Deb around and would like it if she'd stay. But Deb, having grown up a with a lazy father who never appreciated the work she did, is set on starting a newspaper in California--and never being subjected to working for a man again.

This is an enjoyable historical romance. I liked Trace, who is a rough-around-the-edges mountain man with a tender heart, and Deb, with her fiery personality. I also thought the plot was interesting, with Trace and Deb trying to find the men who attacked the wagon train and keep other travelers safe.

The Accidental Guardian is a story of learning to forgive, let go and trust God when your life is turned upside down.

Deborah Harkness and her sister, Gwen, are accompanying a family on the wagon train west. However, Deb, Gwen and the two children in their charge are the only survivors to a brutal massacre. They are left among the debris wondering what to do next when Trace Riley arrived.

Trace has been living in the wilderness and has finally been able to build his own ranch and home. He has become the self-appointed guardian of the trail and made it his mission to drive the dangerous men away.

Trace has no choice but to bring Deb, Gwen and the children home with him for the winter. Then they can continue their journey in the spring.

The story keeps you wondering what will happen next as Trace and his charges return to the ranch and set up housekeeping. Along the way Trace continues to search for the bandits who are responsible for the wagon train massacre.

The story is well told and moves at a steady pace. You quickly learn to care for Trace and Deborah throughout their pursuits. There are many twist and turns leaving the reader to wonder what next.

However, the book is also full of history of the wagon trains and life in the west and full of beautiful imaginary of the sierra’s and the surrounding area.

This was the first book I’ve read by Mary Connealy, but it will not be the last. My only complaint is I have to wait for the sequel to The Accidental Guardian. I’m looking forward to the next chapter in Trace, Deb and Gwen’s lives and adventure.

This book has a lot of action and also romance . A great combination. Deb and her sister Gwen have joined a wagon train to head west for a new start. They are helping care for 2 small children in return. They leave the wagon to go and take one of the children to the rest room. During this time a gang comes through and kills everybody. They hide with the kids until it is safe to come out . Trace notices the tragedy below and investigates when the women come out asking for help. He takes them back to his home until he can get them where they need to be. His farm hands help tremendously with a new shelter and much more . Deb and Trace go and try to find out who is responsible for the killing of all the victims on the wagon train. Everyone is working together to reunite the children with family and get the girls where they need to be also.I don't want to give away to much more . This book had me so involved it didn't take me 24 hours to read it. Look forward to book 2 in this series. This book was given to me as ARC, my opinions and review are my own

Deb is a fiesty character in her own right. She's tired of serving men due to manipulations of a corrupt father. She is completely unprepared for the quiet man who saves her life. Working with Trace to take care of two children and build up a ranch proves to be more enjoyable than she anticipates. Mary Connealy's The Accidental Guardian is a gentle romance with sweet characters and plenty of misunderstanding.   I was provided a copy from Bethany publishers in exchange for an honest review. Deb Harkness and her sister Gwen had taken 3 year old Maddie Sue and 18 month old Ronnie, who they'd been caring for in exchange for their passage, into the tall grass so Maddie Sue could potty. Trace takes them home with him. In typical Connealy fashion, there is plenty of adventure, romance, and humor. Since Trace had barely been around any women, his encounters (and thought processes) with Deb were often humorous. The end of the book sets up the next in the series quite nicely. Though I don't remember an actual scene in the book quite like that on the cover, I do think the cover is certainly appealing and one of the best on a Mary Connealy book. I recommend THE ACCIDENTAL GUARDIAN to anyone who enjoys historical romance.

This book has all of those things. I loved the story of Trace and Deb. Both are honorable people who have experienced tragedy, but find a way to do the right thing and help those around them. This is a clean, sweet, Christian novel. The action in this one begins on the first page and draws you immediately into the story. Be aware that there’s a scene of a wagon train being brutally attacked. It’s handled in a very appropriate way, but for that reason I’d recommend it for no younger than senior high age. If you love western novels, you’ll love this story, too.

Oh my, what a wonderful story!
Mary Connealy has released the first book, Accidental Guardian, in her new High Sierra Sweethearts series. I was immediately drawn into the story from the first page. The author weaves words together that bring both the characters and setting to life for me.
Deb Harkness and her sister are traveling to Sacramento by wagon train accompanying Mr. & Mrs. Scott and caring for the children. While stopped in the Sierra Nevada Mountains the wagon train is attacked leaving Deb, her sister and the children alone without not only protection, but also provisions. Trace Riley is 20 miles from home when he happens upon the burned out wagon train. Memories resurface from a similar scenario from 10 years ago in Trace's mind. He spies 2 women running towards him with two children in tow and knows life as he has known it is about to end. Utah Smith and Adam Thayne work for Trace and the only people he's really been around for years. Trace's workers are waiting for him at his homestead, but to get the women and children there means traveling 20 more miles with only one horse and a few provisions.
Deb is a take charge kind of person, but she has a soft heart and loads of hurt. She saw the attackers which puts her in a dangerous position of being able to identify them, but she puts her own safety at risk to do the right thing. Trace was just a young man when he and his father joined a wagon train headed west, but while away hunting his wagon train was also attacked leaving him virtually alone in the wilderness. Both are strong characters, but each have complex backgrounds which add to the person they are. The plot flows effortlessly and immediately pulled me in. It's full of twists and turns that kept me completely engaged. This was a one setting read for me. When I started it I just couldn't put it down.
Yes, this is a book I would recommend to anyone who loves historical or just a clean romance. This book has elements of suspense, history, romance, faith and trust.

There are times that predictable books do not bother me, and I will read books I like over and over again. But there are times that predictability is annoying.

Deb and Gwen along with two very young children are the only survivors of an attack on a wagon train. Before they can collect their thoughts, Trace Riley finds them and makes a plan to take them to his cabin and safety. The relationship begins on a predictable trajectory. The bad guys in the book take the predictable route of using Deb to get to Trace.

I can give this book three stars. It is enjoyable, but it is entirely put-down-able. Mary Connealy writes "Western Romance" and usually with a healthy dose of humor. I wish this had been up to Mary's norm.

I liked the character development, the historical details and the realistic household activities and situations. Some of the conversations seemed repetitive. I think the author could have varied her word choices more.

The Accidental Guardian is a fantastic book and the start to what promises to be a fabulous series! I was hooked from page one and had a hard time putting it down. I loved the development of the characters. The interactions between them was authentic and realistic. The vividly detailed descriptions made me feel as if I were actually seeing the wagon trains, the trails, Lake Tahoe and everything else. Wagon train stories are not unique, but the circumstances in this book are. The hero in The Accidental Guardian is on my top five favorites list because of his faith, his love of reading and how he treats everyone he comes in contact with (other than the bad guys). This is definitely a book for my keeper shelf and I'm already anticipating the next book!!

Mary Connealy brings readers another sweet, action-filled romance! As always, Ms. Connealy opens the novel right in the middle of the action. Readers are instantly grounded in the plot, rooting for the hero's and heroine's escape. Trace Riley's unique backstory makes him LOVABLE, and his journey intertwines perfectly with the novel's theme. Deborah Harkness's past makes her hesitance toward Trace understandable and makes her character journey all the more sweet. The ending is satisfying and had me looking forward to the next book in this series.

This story holds a more serious undertone than most of Ms. Connealy's stories, but I found this refreshing after her last spunky, fast-paced series (The Cimarron Legacy). I give this book four stars.

This was a really interesting book. Deb and her sister Gwen were traveling on a wagon train bound for California. They were traveling with a family and caring for two children. The two children woke in the middle of the night and the sisters took them out into the tall grass to relieve themselves. While they were out, the wagon train was attacked and everyone was killed. Fortunately for Deb and Gwen, Trace Riley found them and took them to his cabin. That is the start of an epic story of love and courage. This book is the start of a series. It can be read as a stand-alone, but the characters will continue in the other books. I really enjoyed the story and recommend it.

Deborah Harkness has been under the authority of Men all her life, she can't wait to start her own life, being her own boss. When she rescues her sister and two small children from a massacre, Deborah must trust Trace, to be a good honest man.

Trace Riley has been on his own for years, however when he rides upon two women and children he will do whatever he can to protect them, even if it turns his world upside down.

I love the awkwardness between Trace and Deborah and the sparks that fly between them as well.

I have read multiple books by Mary Connealy and I was thrilled to see the covers of this new series. These are by far the best covers for her books so far and I hope the publisher continues in that direction! While this book was very predictable there were some great characters that really pulled the story together. The start of the book starts with a bang and I really liked Trace. It is always fun to see some kids in a story and also a situation when people are thrown together and have to figure out how to survive together. I look forward to the next book in the series!

Mary Connealy does it again with this fairy-tale-like story, with a real life feel. With a mixture of tragedy and joy, this story keeps your attention from the first chapter.
I enjoyed the story very much. It was interesting to read and learn about life in the Sierra Mountains of Nevada in 1860s.
The struggles that the main characters had to deal with were entertaining without being ridiculous.
As usual, I enjoyed Mary Connealy's story and can see where the next book might possibly flow right out of this one. Looking forward to it!

The Accidental Guardian was a delightful read of a new series by this author and I found myself ready for a new series by her. She did a great job on this one. She engaged my heart from the start and, as is her way, she kept me reading to find out what happens to each character. I felt that she did well in bringing me into the drama of wagon trains back in the days of Early American History. The amounts of snow that had to be traveled through in one part of the book was crazy and the hospitality to put people up for long visits was inspirational.

I loved the main characters, Trace & Deb, and thought they were a great match! Trace the ever keeper of the trail and Deb the keeper of keepers.
I felt like it was a western Robinson Crusoe in many ways. Some of the things that happened...wow! I can't imagine! What a group of survivors!

Well laced with Mary Connealy’s trademark humor, Accidental Guardian is a great kickoff to her newest historical series.

Deborah and Trace are both very likable and relatable. Deb was such a strong woman, though a touch frustrating in her stubbornness. And even though Trace can have a difficult time with so many people around, that guy has such a big and giving heart. He’ll do anything for Deb and her makeshift little family.

Some of the confrontations between the men and the kids had me in stitches. There is still a lot left open-ended and one villain still left to catch. I can’t wait to get my hands on the sequel.

I loved the characters- strong Deb with her determination to take the burdens from others, motherly Gwen who nurtured everyone around her, Trace's protective nature and curiosity, and the cowhands at his ranch who would do anything for the ladies and children. The pace of the book was steady, with plenty of action and adventure as Trace and Deb race against a swiftly approaching winter to track down the killers while preparing the ranch before getting snowed in. I loved their sincerity and gratitude for each other, and the way they so perfectly brought light and joy to each other's life. Their innocence with romance was endearing and made their special moments together sweeter. I'm so excited for this new series from one of my favorite authors!

I enjoyed this book immensely. Interwoven in the plot are the themes of mercy, justice, and forgiveness. The characters are learning to communicate with others, instead of just having they own inner dialogue in their heads and assuming others will understand what they want. Is this not something many of us struggle with? How to communicate well in situations that are new to us.

Mary Connealy does a superb job of including the thoughts and growth of her side characters as well as those of her main characters throughout the book. The descriptions of the people, scenery and settings are thorough without being tedious. Readers will want to saddle up and join in the adventure. Once again the story comes to a satisfying conclusion while still having a closing scene left open to lead into the sequel. A great read to take along on your next road trip or simply enjoy from the comfort of your front porch. It will make you want to linger and enjoy the sunset just a bit more!

Mary Connealy has released the first book, Accidental Guardian, in her new High Sierra Sweethearts series. I was immediately drawn into the story from the first page. The author weaves words together that bring both the characters and setting to life for me.
Deb Harkness and her sister are traveling to Sacramento by wagon train accompanying Mr. & Mrs. Scott and caring for the children. While stopped in the Sierra Nevada Mountains the wagon train is attacked leaving Deb, her sister and the children alone without not only protection, but also provisions. Trace Riley is 20 miles from home when he happens upon the burned out wagon train. Memories resurface from a similar scenario from 10 years ago in Trace's mind. He spies 2 women running towards him with two children in tow and knows life as he has known it is about to end. Utah Smith and Adam Thayne work for Trace and the only people he's really been around for years. Trace's workers are waiting for him at his homestead, but to get the women and children there means traveling 20 more miles with only one horse and a few provisions.
Deb is a take charge kind of person, but she has a soft heart and loads of hurt. She saw the attackers which puts her in a dangerous position of being able to identify them, but she puts her own safety at risk to do the right thing. Trace was just a young man when he and his father joined a wagon train headed west, but while away hunting his wagon train was also attacked leaving him virtually alone in the wilderness. Both are strong characters, but each have complex backgrounds which add to the person they are. The plot flows effortlessly and immediately pulled me in. It's full of twists and turns that kept me completely engaged. This was a one setting read for me. When I started it I just couldn't put it down.
Yes, this is a book I would recommend to anyone who loves historical or just a clean romance. This book has elements of suspense, history, romance, faith and trust.

There are times that predictable books do not bother me, and I will read books I like over and over again. But there are times that predictability is annoying.

Deb and Gwen along with two very young children are the only survivors of an attack on a wagon train. Before they can collect their thoughts, Trace Riley finds them and makes a plan to take them to his cabin and safety. The relationship begins on a predictable trajectory. The bad guys in the book take the predictable route of using Deb to get to Trace.

I can give this book three stars. It is enjoyable, but it is entirely put-down-able. Mary Connealy writes "Western Romance" and usually with a healthy dose of humor. I wish this had been up to Mary's norm.

The Accidental Guardian by Mary Connealy is the first book in a series. It is the story of a woman and her family who are headed west in their wagon, but get ambushed and can't make it the rest of the way. A man takes them in, but reluctantly.

I liked the character development, the historical details and the realistic household activities and situations. Some of the conversations seemed repetitive. I think the author could have varied her word choices more.

The Accidental Guardian is a fantastic book and the start to what promises to be a fabulous series! I was hooked from page one and had a hard time putting it down. I loved the development of the characters. The interactions between them was authentic and realistic. The vividly detailed descriptions made me feel as if I were actually seeing the wagon trains, the trails, Lake Tahoe and everything else. Wagon train stories are not unique, but the circumstances in this book are. The hero in The Accidental Guardian is on my top five favorites list because of his faith, his love of reading and how he treats everyone he comes in contact with (other than the bad guys). This is definitely a book for my keeper shelf and I'm already anticipating the next book!!

Mary Connealy brings readers another sweet, action-filled romance! As always, Ms. Connealy opens the novel right in the middle of the action. Readers are instantly grounded in the plot, rooting for the hero's and heroine's escape. Trace Riley's unique backstory makes him LOVABLE, and his journey intertwines perfectly with the novel's theme. Deborah Harkness's past makes her hesitance toward Trace understandable and makes her character journey all the more sweet. The ending is satisfying and had me looking forward to the next book in this series.

This story holds a more serious undertone than most of Ms. Connealy's stories, but I found this refreshing after her last spunky, fast-paced series (The Cimarron Legacy). I give this book four stars.

This was a really interesting book. Deb and her sister Gwen were traveling on a wagon train bound for California. They were traveling with a family and caring for two children. The two children woke in the middle of the night and the sisters took them out into the tall grass to relieve themselves. While they were out, the wagon train was attacked and everyone was killed. Fortunately for Deb and Gwen, Trace Riley found them and took them to his cabin. That is the start of an epic story of love and courage. This book is the start of a series. It can be read as a stand-alone, but the characters will continue in the other books. I really enjoyed the story and recommend it.

This is book one in the High Sierra Sweethearts series, I look forward to reading more in this series. Mary Connealy has a fun writing style, I always enjoy reading her novels.

Deborah Harkness has been under the authority of Men all her life, she can't wait to start her own life, being her own boss. When she rescues her sister and two small children from a massacre, Deborah must trust Trace, to be a good honest man.

Trace Riley has been on his own for years, however when he rides upon two women and children he will do whatever he can to protect them, even if it turns his world upside down.

I love the awkwardness between Trace and Deborah and the sparks that fly between them as well.

I have read multiple books by Mary Connealy and I was thrilled to see the covers of this new series. These are by far the best covers for her books so far and I hope the publisher continues in that direction! While this book was very predictable there were some great characters that really pulled the story together. The start of the book starts with a bang and I really liked Trace. It is always fun to see some kids in a story and also a situation when people are thrown together and have to figure out how to survive together. I look forward to the next book in the series!

Mary Connealy does it again with this fairy-tale-like story, with a real life feel. With a mixture of tragedy and joy, this story keeps your attention from the first chapter.
I enjoyed the story very much. It was interesting to read and learn about life in the Sierra Mountains of Nevada in 1860s.
The struggles that the main characters had to deal with were entertaining without being ridiculous.
As usual, I enjoyed Mary Connealy's story and can see where the next book might possibly flow right out of this one. Looking forward to it!

The Accidental Guardian was a delightful read of a new series by this author and I found myself ready for a new series by her. She did a great job on this one. She engaged my heart from the start and, as is her way, she kept me reading to find out what happens to each character. I felt that she did well in bringing me into the drama of wagon trains back in the days of Early American History. The amounts of snow that had to be traveled through in one part of the book was crazy and the hospitality to put people up for long visits was inspirational.

I love Mary Connealy's writing style! I was immediately drawn into the story and it was nonstop from there. I loved the characters- strong Deb with her determination to take the burdens from others, motherly Gwen who nurtured everyone around her, Trace's protective nature and curiosity, and the cowhands at his ranch who would do anything for the ladies and children. The pace of the book was steady, with plenty of action and adventure as Trace and Deb race against a swiftly approaching winter to track down the killers while preparing the ranch before getting snowed in. I loved their sincerity and gratitude for each other, and the way they so perfectly brought light and joy to each other's life. Their innocence with romance was endearing and made their special moments together sweeter. I'm so excited for this new series from one of my favorite authors!

I enjoyed this book immensely. Interwoven in the plot are the themes of mercy, justice, and forgiveness. The characters are learning to communicate with others, instead of just having they own inner dialogue in their heads and assuming others will understand what they want. Is this not something many of us struggle with? How to communicate well in situations that are new to us.

Mary Connealy does a superb job of including the thoughts and growth of her side characters as well as those of her main characters throughout the book. The descriptions of the people, scenery and settings are thorough without being tedious. Readers will want to saddle up and join in the adventure. Once again the story comes to a satisfying conclusion while still having a closing scene left open to lead into the sequel. A great read to take along on your next road trip or simply enjoy from the comfort of your front porch. It will make you want to linger and enjoy the sunset just a bit more!

Beautifully written and very endearing! Great storyline. Its Very clean and I love the Christian faith of the characters! It makes you feel you are right there with them in every fight and even in the winter cold ! Surreal

No body writes a western tale like Mary Connealy. I love how her characters read and I love the adventure she writes. Poor Trace had such a terrible time yet he came out of it the best kind of man. Noble and good. And I loved how Deb was able to face the truth without a lot of female drama. This is a good story

I voluntarily chose to leave a review of this book. It's a thrilling page turner that keeps you guessing to the Happy Ever After. Waiting for book 2 the Warrior Gwens story.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I have loved reading every book by Mary Connealy. This one was not a disappointment. There was enough intrigue to keep it interesting, along with humor and romance to keep it light. You will be delighted to read it!

This is an outstanding clean sweet romance. Filled with so many exciting twists and turns. Good wins over awful evil. Mary’s characters are so complex, her books are filled with adventures, tears, laughter. It was a pure delight to read a pleasure from start to finish. Now on to the next book in this fantastic series!

Characters come to life with strength, honor, and Christian love for one another. Differences are accepted, even welcomed, as this motley crew battles for survival and finds joy in challenging circumstances.

The Accidental Guardian takes us to a time and place when our country was being settled and the main transport was the wagon trains. However not all trains made it safely to their destination especially when they were being stalked for their goods and the bad guys had no morals and killed just to kill.
This is the world that Deborah finds herself in along with her sister Gwen and the two children in their care. To their rescue comes Trace Riley who knows exactly what they are going through. This story takes us into the majestic mountains with rugged cowboys but cowboys who protect women and children.

I liked the balance that the author took between vengeance and justice. I enjoyed the characteristics of the men and the women and how thankful they each were for what the other did for them. I liked seeing people working together at what they did best for the benefit of all involved.

The romance was a treat and I am glad that Trace finally had someone. The ending sets up the second in the series nicely, and I agree with Utah when he says it will be a long winter! Looking forward to the rest of this series.
