I have read most of Ms. Cooper's books and I found this latest to be a bit different from all the others. While it is a "modern" romance, the main character, Becca, belongs to a somewhat fundamental Christian sect and this influence all her decisions in the book. I am not a fan of the Christian romance category but I wouldn't put this in that genre. Her faith is essential to understanding her character (however, it did get in the way a bit for me at the end). I don't want to give anything away but I couldn't understand how Becca and Matt would eventually have a HEA.

I thought the story developed quite organically and had a very strong "twist" near the end that I never saw coming. It's the story of a girl/woman who tries to be a good person but realized in the end that she needs to make authentic choices to make herself, and those around her, happy. Without these, she ends up hurting the people she tries to help.

While romantic if you are a fan of explicit women's romance don't look here. There's sex, but it's not the focus of the story at all. Much more romantic than erotic (although I found Matt to be a hottie.) My favorite Cooper book is probably "Good Guys Love dogs" this is well worth the read and a good variation on her other romances. I like that Cooper is writing really original new stories and not just rehashing her ideas. Thanks!

A poignant and moving story of a community divided artificially and tragically. Excellent character development, effective suspense as the story unfolded and a ‘happy ending.’ Some awkwardness in the style requiring reread for clarification.

All through the life stories of the main characters....some tragic, some sad, some full of love but all impacted by choices of each one made the book interesting to read and wonder how it was all going to end. I would like to read more of this writer's books.

This is a love story of Matt and Becca. They live in the same town but in two different worlds. Can love bridge the gap? Becca lives in the country on a farm in an Amish like community, Matt lives in town, star of the baseball team. When he is forced to work of her family farm as community service they get to know each other and learn to love despite the differences. On the farm there are also her brother Jacob and sister Emmy, their lives intertwine and when tragity strikes Emmy choices for and by Becca that change her life and push Matt away. Eighteen years later when Matt returns for is grandmothers funeral they are together again. What will happen when they face the past and the truths are revealed? Can love survive years of separation and loss or will they stay on the paths their lives are on and once again walk away.

I could not move on to another book until I left a few words about this one. Amazing story with the ultimate message being, that no matter how hard it is to tell or to hear, the truth will set you free. Heavy huh? Just read it!

I enjoyed this book and didn't mind the way the author went from "Then" and "Now". I wasn't confused and there weren't too many main characters to keep track. I enjoyed the poems and quotes at the beginning of every chapter. I would even enjoy a follow--up book to find out more about the characters and the decisions and valuable lessons that shaped the future.

I don’t think this book will be to everyone’s taste but I enjoyed the read. How our beliefs and family influence the decisions we make and how these decisions can be life changing is something we all have, or will encounter in our lifetimes.

It was a wonderful book. It makes you stop and think about your own life and if you are truly loving and living the way you should. Also, it bridges the differences of people and how we should look at one another.

I received an awesome, wonderful, emotional, heart-wrenching, romantic, love story Crossing Tinker's Knob by Inglath Cooper in an email free from the author.
I absolutely loved reading the story and found myself wanting to continue reading to find out what happens with Becca and Matt. While in high school, Matt has to do his community service at a dairy farm where he meets Becca. As Becca and Matt start seeing each other, their feelings for each other grow. After Matt leaves for college, family obligations keep Becca from being with Matt and she has to break up with him. After eighteen years, Becca and Matt see each other again because Matt comes to town for his grandmother's funeral.
Read the highly recommended. phenomenally, well written, love story Crossing Tinker's Knob by Inglath Cooper.

I'll be honest....last week I got an email asking if I wanted to read a book in exchange for a review. Considering I've done this in the past, I figured why not!? I was in no way prepared for what I was about to read! Crossing Tinker's Knob is an amazing read and very emotional. The true sacrifices that a family must endure for their own family are endearing. I was a bit confused in parts by the flashbacks and different parts, but once I picked up on the flow of the book I got the rhythm of the book. This book leaves your heart filled and overflowing. It renews your faith if pure and true love. It is refreshing to read a book about true love and romance such as this. I look forward to reading anything else written by this author! Great work!

This was not what I expected. It was a very good and compelling story. Such sadness and angst from several views. And then the possibility of hope even though some would be hurt, and then it ended with a ridiculous letter tying it up. So the book was ruined in my opinion.

I received an email offer to read Ms Coopers book Crossing Tinkers Knob in exchange for an honest review. I hesitated at first because I thought if it's free ... There has to be a catch. What I immediately found out was that it was free and it was an extreme honor. This is a beautiful book of love, loss, loyalty, sacrifice and deceit . It's also a lesson in accepting choices that people make for themselves. This book was written so beautifully. I didn't want to put it down once I started reading. I finally put it down at 2:00 am this morning after drifting off. I hated going to sleep not knowing if the couple that I desperately wanted together were going to find their way back to each other.

The character development and descriptive terminology the author uses pulls you in to the story as if you are a part of it.

I'm only giving this book 5 stars because the option to give more is not there. For me this book ranked right up there with Colleen Hoovers Maybe Someday and that is saying a lot !!

A woman reared in an Amish or Mennonite type religion, controlled by her fanatic mother... of course she comes to love an outsider! It then - of course - becomes a twisted story of love denied for 20 years. But they solve everything at the end. Very forgettable book.

I've read several of Inglath Cooper's books and they are all excellently written and offer so much more than a mere story. Crossing Tinker's Knob is one of those sit down and read it until it's done kind of books that takes you through the life of a young woman who gave up her true love to help her sister through a tragedy. You will be pulled into the story and find yourself rooting for the characters as they all face the consequences of decisions made 18 years ago. Life and love always find a way. You will not regret taking the time to read this treasure.

This book was written in a very interesting way, and for the second time in a couple of reading experiences, I had to reeducate my mind in order to keep up. It was easier this time. This was an interesting read, and I enjoyed it for the most part. I never could put the title together with the story in a way that made sense. It was, however, a good story that I would honestly recommend to readers.

Becca is a girl who lives a quiet (Amish like) life and Matt is a boy who lives with his grandmother and is an amazing baseball player. Will love ever be enough...

This book is amazing, but had a very slow start. I was getting confused and was wondering when the excitement was going to kick in. That is why I only gave it four stars. The story is amazing but the beginning was too slow for me to get involved with the characters from the starting point. Still, I was glad I stuck with it because the story is great.

Writing book reviews is hard because you want someone to pick the book and enjoy it as much as you did but don’t want to give too much away. It was a great book I read it in a day coming back to it every chance I got. However there is trigger warnings however I can’t say what without spoiling. Yes i wish the ending held more, but it did enough justice and no end was left unexplained so can’t complain. Over all a great read!!!

This is a contemporary romance which only Inglath Cooper can astoundingly write. It's such a heartfelt story which you will always remember. They say you can never go back, but sometimes we must. One should never go down life's journey with regrets. Read this powerful, well written, heart touching story. Highly recommend.

This story had so much potential, but it just fell short of what I was aiming for, a romantic pick-me-up. Becca loves Matt, but her selfless love for others stops her from being with him? I don't know, there was so much build up, and not much resolution.:((((((

This book was heartbreaking. I was hooked just by the prologue. When your heart picks for you who you are meant to spend the rest of your life with, how do life altering things change the way life turns out for the main characters in this book. Do you learn to love someone else? Do you give up on love? what kind of life will you have? This book will answer all those answers and more... If you like a book with twists and turns and love and loss then you will enjoy this book!

The plot of this book is intriguing, as are many of the depictions of human emotions. Punctuation falls short of its clarifying role, some phrases are repetitive, and the drama gets a little overdone at times. Overall, this is a good book that holds the reader's interest.

The last time I wrote a review it was called a book report but after purchasing and enjoying three of the author's previous novels I accepted the offer of a gift ebook in exchange for a review.

This is a longer, more thoughtful story than the previous books I read, which were lovely romances. Crossing Tinker's Knob follows a moment in which time stopped and nothing was ever the same. Told in "Then" and "Now" chapters, it braids together the story of young lovers, of enduring love and affection between two sisters, of parental love and the possibility of second chances for love.

The characters are clear and realistic; it would seem almost natural to encounter one while walking down the street. They traversed difficult situations with courage and dignity. It was a pleasure to share their journey and find satisfaction in the different resolutions for each character. I suspect I will remember them for a long time.

The epigraphs at the beginning of each chapter are relevant to the chapter. I note this because too often it seems an author decides to include epigraphs and then uses whichever is nearest at hand.

In the last month I have read all the Inglath Cooper ebooks available. I have enjoyed all of them for their lightness and happy endings. Sometimes I admit to wanting to know more about the characters and the same held true for "Crossing Tinker's Knob". It was an intriguing story of a culture within our American culture. I live in Hutterite country and often wonder if there is much discourse in their culture due to the inevitable exposure to the mainstream community. I guess I would have liked more detail into each of the characters from that perspective. Then again it wouldn't have been a fictional romance with a (mostly) happy ending.

I too loved this book. It was a story of the many kinds of love one has in life. Becca was loved by many in her family and by the two men in her lives. The story kept me interested. I too thought the book ended too soon but the writing was lovely and it was an interesting way to end the book.
I loved the quotes that started each chapter.

This story is so much more than love and loss, a story about how each choice we make rather for good or for bad effect us and others many years down the road. And no matter how good our intentions may be someone sometimes always will be hurt.. But sometimes in life wrongs can be righted.. I loved this story and related to so many of the characters. Some piece of all of them reminded me of myself so I connected with all of them in some way... And sometimes a happy ending to some CJ be a sad ending to others.. The only negative thing I have to say is that I find the Details in books, dates, times, places, my mind latches on them so when a detail is messed up in a latter part of the book it distracts me from the story and tends to irritate me,be jade it should have be caught in the editing....other than that it was a wonderful story

I could not put this book down!! After reading the synopsis and becoming hooked, I started reading and immediately fell in love with the characters. Becca and Matt are almost like star crossed lovers, coming from two different worlds and eventually breaking apart. Every time I attempted to take a break from reading to get something done, I found myself immediately picking it back up because I needed to know what happened next.

The characters just broke my heart. I felt their heart break and pain, and it was just a rollercoaster of emotions that had me smiling and crying and smiling again all the way until the end. The beginning was a bit hard to get into because you are trying to figure out how everything ties together, but once you continue and find out all that is happening, you won't put it down until you are on the very last page. You will not regret this book :)

I never read reviews before reading a novel. This was a great vacation read as it required very little thought to finish it. I was interested enough to fly through it in one beach sitting. This story is very complex and well written. I have to say when I first started to read it, I read the prologue and wasn't sure about continuing. The start was a bit upsetting. Given a few days I decided I wanted to finish the story and finished it within a day while truly enjoyed it.

The complexities of the relationships are deep. Your perceptions of next events will be off base. The strong bases of faith and love between characters is amazing. Your heart will reach out to Becca, feel for Jacob, amazed by his ability for unconditional love.

Not sure where to start with this book..it's very emotional and very deep. I cried big alligator tears throughout the entire book. So much of this book struck home for me, I had a similar experience but mine didn't turn out like the book. A lot of thought went into this book and into the feelings of love lost and found. This story will open your heart and make you think twice about love, religon, what's right or wrong and about not fighting what's meant to be. This is s soul searching love story. I could not put it down once I started reading.

Becca chose her life and is content until Matt returns to town after many years away. Two different worlds existing side by side - the world most of us think of as normal and the world of a religious order. Becca and Matt meet by chance and fall for each other.

Prejudice plays a part in an awful tragedy that has consequences years later when Matt returns to town for the funeral of his grandmother.

First loves, duty, and expectations combine for a great story!

You don't want to miss this book.

It was okay but I skimmed the last few chapters. I never really felt invested in any of the characters and found the multiple voices/characters and often irrelevant relationship moments, i.e. when Matt's wife shows up, didn't help. The book felt flat and I finished it not really caring about any of the characters.

Crossing Tinker's Knob is different from the many other love stories I've read. It was a slow beginning but I quickly became engrossed in this story. Becca was strong and put everyone ahead if her own needs and the love she found. Taking on the entire family's tragedy and taking care of everyone but herself. Matt was in love with Becca since he was 18. He never knew of Becca's reasons for cutting him out of her life but after 18 years they still couldn't fight the love they felt for one another.

I WILL NOT GET INTO THE DETAILS OF THE BOOK , IF YOU LIKE A GOOD BOOK WITH REAL LIFE LESSONS, TRAGEDIES, AND HOW WE HAVE TO SOMETIMES GO AGAINST WHAT OUR FAMILIES THINK IS BEST FOR US FOR OUR OWN HAPPINESS, WITH OR WITHOUT THEIR ACCEPTANCE. THIS BOOK WILL MAKE YOU THINK ABOUT THE CHOICES WE MAKE IN LIFE AND, HOW WE MIGHT THINK WE ARE DOING THE RIGHT THING, BUT FIND OUT DIFFERENTLY, AND THAT SOMETIMES WE MAKE CHOICES BASED ON FEAR WHEN WE SHOULD MAKE THEM BASED ON HOPE INSTEAD. I WILL DEFINITELY LOOK FOR MORE FROM THIS AUTHOR AS I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND LOOK FORWARD TO READING MORE OF HER BOOKS.

It's difficult to put all my feelings of this story into words. Excellent story of human nature and how stringent beliefs and rules can mess up so many lives. Be true and follow your heart, but most of all, be honest to yourself and those you love.

I've loved everything I've read from Inglath Cooper, and this was no exception. I did receive this ebook for free in return for my honest review. I would have read it either way.

If you're looking for a fairy tale ending, this is not your book. But if you're looking for a heart gripping, honest, and emotional story, then grab this one up.

At first I thought I was disappointed at the ending. Not the result but that it ended and we didn't get more. But after thinking about it for a little while, I decided that it was perfect just as it was. After all, isn't that part of what makes a book exceptional? It leaves us wanting more?

Keep writing Inglath Cooper! You are an amazingly talented writer!

If you don't like going back and forth between now and then you will not enjoy this book; I loved it but I am an avid reader, even with that said I had to go back sometimes to see who we were listening too, or talking about. The storyline was good, you learn to love and hurt with the characters, even the mother whom I was not a fan of in the beginning, I wondered if she was the tin man without a heart... it reads fast, but stay with it it really is a great story!

years. There are so many characters in the book and each one is like a mini-story all its own. Then the writer skillfully blends each of those stories in with the others to make a wonderful tapestry of lives blended into the whole. It surprised me at every turn. Loved it!!

I have come to really enjoy Inglath's work. I'm never disappointed by her story and attention to details. I loved all the characters in this story even those not so likable. I just couldn't let the people go. Even when I wasn't reading I'd find myself thinking about what would happened next. Their tale was so gripping. I loved that each main character's perspective helped to build the story. The way Inglath moved us from present to past revealing what was necessary just when it was necessary was just perfect. She dangled just enough info to keep me greedy for more. When the story came to it's end it was finished --I was completely satisfied. I love stories like these. They make me want to tell my own.

One moment in time can affect the lives of so many. Even when we believe our choices and sacrifices are what’s best, life, love, and circumstances will fight for the truth.

A beautiful, heartbreaking story of choices made, lives changed, and love lost.

I loved this book. An avid reader, I read so many forgettable, mediocre books. Not this one! This was the best book I have found in a long time. A beautiful story, with well developed characters, bring this story to life. Inglath Cooper has a new fan!

I love all of her books and was so excited to be able to read this free for my review. Took a lot to get this downloaded to my kindle, but we'll worth the trouble.

This book is so full of emotion, at one point I actually said out loud "oh my God" didn't see that coming. It's also a reminder about accepting others no matter what they wear, how they dress, etc.

I don't want to give away anything, you must read.

I became a fan of Inglath Cooper's work after downloading a free copy of Nashville. Her writing style is superb and her characters are richly written. This story of a sister's sacrifice is also a story of acceptance and tolerance for those that are different from us. And yes, it is a love story-many love stories with one central story of choosing a path you choose for all the right reasons but ends up to be the wrong choice in the end. Great read-couldn't put it down.

I was raised in the Brethren Church but not old Brethren. I was intrigued to see the portrayal of the faith and its impact on circumstances. Although the story had suspense, it was more about relationships, love, and prejudice. It is about how actions out of love can cause more harm than good.

I really enjoyed this book. The story and emotion behind it kept me reading all day and into the night. I wanted to find out why Becca and Matt had gone their separate ways and married others. I also wanted to find out why Emmy resided in a state of complete silence. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to read a great book packed with emotion and feeling.

I received a gifted copy from the author.

This story is a very heart touching story. While reading it made me think of past relationships and what I would do in circumstances that the families of Tinker's Knob were encountering. Inglath Cooper gets your attention from the very beginning and writes a story that you can't put down. Your drawn in and want to keep reading to see what is going to happen next. I look forward to reading more of her books.

Makes one think of our choices in life.
What we do to protect others we love.
Fear of not not knowing the outcome affects our choices.
Trusting ourselves, beliefs of family & fear of change & loss can
effect those we love & ourselves. Believing in happiness is good & ok !

Wonderful Book to Read!
I loved this book. If you haven't read any of Inglath Cooper's books, you don't know what you are missing. Crossing Tinker's Knob is a very good story about a woman who made a decision to help her sister and family and leaving behind the one she truly loved. The going from "Then" and "Now" relating the thoughts, feelings, joys, love and questions of each of the main characters - Becca, Matt, Abby, Emmy, Martha, Aaron and many others that pulled this story together is very interesting. I also liked the fact that Ms. Cooper included a Reading Group Guide at the end of this story was great. So, if you are reading this and are in a reading club, check it out.

After reading Ms. Cooper’s Good Guys Love Dogs book (my first Inglath Cooper book), Crossing Tinker’s Knob was already on my “Want to Read” list. When Ms. Cooper gave readers an opportunity to read Crossing Tinker’s Knob for free in exchange for an honest review on the store, I was thrilled! Crossing Tinker’s Knob is a wonderful story that was difficult for me to put down as each chapter gave more depth to each character and made me want to read and care about their lives. Perhaps a look into a more simple way of life, I quickly fell in love with both Becca and Matt, each bringing strength of moral character and the realization that sometimes love alone is not enough and then again, sometimes it is. There is no greater truth than Abby’s words “We’re not promised anything …love is a gift”. I look forward to reading more from this wonderful author

Very good book, this is one I'll keep around to read again. Inglath did a great job developing the characters and the relationships and the time lines. Imagine losing a loved one once and thinking it will happen again! Tinker's Knob was always there looking down on the farm but all were forbidden to climb. Will Becca and Matt find what they had before. Read to find out.

I was able to read this book with a free download (Thanks Inglath!) I liked this book a great deal and would definitely recommend it. I thought the characters were realistic. I liked the many generations represented in the story as well. I have read a few of Inglath Cooper's books and although I liked some of her other ones better the religious group represented here was different and intriguing. I thought the author explained their behavior well enough for me to follow. I particularly liked how the book ended-how the threads of all the stories were wrapped up in (SPOILER ALERT) the letter.

Enjoyed the book but not as good as her others. I did enjoy the story line of the book being different than most though...it's nice to have a change from the basic boy meets girl, boy looses girl, boy finds girl and falls back in love later in life. There is waaay more to the story in this book. It's still a good book and worth reading but definitely read her others also.

It was a good story but it took a while to develop, and you could see the end coming or the "truth" before it was truly revealed so the shock isn't there, but maybe that was the intention with the way the story was told.
Still, an easy read with a sense of sadness without it being too heavym.

This is the first book I have read by this author, it will not be the last. I have been a prolific reader for forty five years, it's what I do. I have four things that I judge a book on, if it makes me laugh, if it makes me cry, if it touches my heart, and if after I have read the book I want to recommend it to others and read it again. This is one of those books.
The characters were believable and easy to relate to, the story being something that I can actually see having happened. I enjoyed the way the the author went back and forth from then to now in the telling of the events that shaped their lives. I read the book in one sitting I had to know what happened next. Couldn't put it down except to wipe my eyes so I could continue reading.

Throughout our lives we make choices every day using the best information we have at the time. We can't know what the consequences will be in the future. Crossing Tinker's Knob is a story about choices and consequences. I found myself not only putting myself in the position of the characters, but trying to discern what my choices would have been. The book is honest in the portrayal of the feelings of its characters, making it so real for me. I loved the people and the story. Another good one by Inglath Cooper!

Let me start by saying this is the first book I've read by Ms. Cooper. Last night I got an email offering a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I had just finished another book so I thought, why not? I read all kinds of romance related books, from women's fiction to erotic fiction that some would consider smut. Reading is an escape and a way to experience things that I might not want to experience in real life. Once I started reading this book the only reason I stopped was because my ereader fell out of my hands; I just couldn't keep my eyes open any longer no matter how much I wanted to keep reading.

This book moved me in ways that I find hard to explain in this review. The only thing I can compare it to is another book I read that also moved me in ways I couldn't explain - Night Road by Kristin Hannah. Ms. Cooper's writing is rich and descriptive; you can see and feel what the characters see and feel. The prologue was intriguing and made me want to keep reading. The story unfolds a bit slowly, but that's how it needs to be which I understood the more I kept reading. I'm not really sure I understood where the book was going for a few chapters but I had to keep going and the more I read the more I couldn't stop. I won't give any details of the book, you really need to read it for yourself, but I will say there is no cliffhanger which seems to be so popular among some authors these days.

If you are a fan of women's fiction you don't want to pass up this book. This may have been the first book I read by Ms. Cooper but it surely won't be the last.

5/29/14 - this book was so good that I purchased a copy for myself even though I received a free one.

Seeing 80% of reviewers gave this one a four or five star rating, out of curiosity I decided to see why just a very few folks gave it one star. Ignorance, that’s the only explanation. Either the one star folks are really one person trying to discredit an author, or each of them believed they were reading about an Amish family and their strict religious beliefs.

This novel isn’t about Amish people. No Amish here folks, move along! It’s about intolerance, injustice, ignorance and misguided beliefs that tear a family apart. It’s about parents that are more concerned with their self image than their children's mental health and peace of mind.

I could relate to this story very well, because I grew up in what could be referred to as a cult and I know how hard it is to break free. The fear, the certainty that you’re going to be punished, the heartbreak of family members shunning you... and I’m not Amish either! Whether you’re Amish, Muslim, Baptist, Catholic or even atheist, this could be your family.

This story could have taken place in any family in the world. People the world over want to believe that their beliefs are the only ones that are right. People are selfish. This story gripped me from the beginning and held me until the last page was read. No spoilers here, but it did have a very surprising ending. I will now retrieve more books by this very wonderful author...

I absolutely loved this book, Inglath Cooper has done it again. The name of the book has changed from "And Then You Loved Me" to "Crossing Tinker's Knob". I found the writing excellent, the way she leads you on, you know that something happened, but she just drops little hints and tidbits, you then need to read further to find out the full story. I read this in only a few settings, won't tell any spoilers but I came to care about Becca, Emmie, and eventually the mother, Martha. I had formed several opinions of my own during the book and none of them were right. The twists and turns were fun to read.
I fully enjoyed the way she wrapped up the story in the end. This book has it all, love, romance, heart, loss, sorrow, humor, laughter, a little bit of mystery and intrigue. I highly recommend!! High 5*****.
