Ordered for 13 yr. old grandson. My daughter said it was very informative but pre-screened before giving it to him and did remove a couple of pages she felt was, "questionable," for his maturity level. He did tell her it was helpful.

I bought this book because I thought it simply stated and explained all the important points that I want my 10 year old to learn. I was shocked when there was a small section on oral sex and anal sex. I'm already shocking him with enough regular information... Didn't need to add that. I cut out those pages and will give to him when the time is right.

The parts on diet, exercise, peer pressure, etc are OK, but the parts relating to changes in your body are very sterile. I wish I had noticed beforehand that this book was written by two women. To be blunt, a book like this should largely be a `penis owner's guide', but the authors obviously have no idea what it's like to experience many of the things they talk about. For example, the section on trying to keep spontaneous erections hidden was laughably bad. It suggested things like wearing an un-tucked shirt or covering it with a book. An `expert' could advise on how to properly tuck things away (as long as you're wearing briefs) so as to largely mitigate the problem. The section on `blue balls' made it seem rather scary (note: while some guys will claim intense pain, most will admit that it's a minor discomfort at worst, but it may vary across individuals). Unfortunately, there are dozens of such issues. There are much better choices for a book on this topic.

While this book is loaded with information, on a subject as embarrassing to a preteen boy as puberty, my three will never read it. 110 pages in small print. It may be a better buy for a parent to read and get "dumb downed" ideas for a conversation, but it is not a book my sons or their friends will use.

I only flipped through the book quickly, so I have not read page by page. I was looking for an appropriate book to give my tweens to read about puberty. Most of the book seems to cover those topics well. It was the last chapter on sex that turned me off on the book. There is too much detail (in my opinion) to hand a 14 year old boy. In fact, the level of detail is something I would prefer to discuss personally with the kids when they are mid to late teens. I will not be giving this book to them to read and I caution anyone to check it out thoroughly before deciding if your child is ready for this much information.

This book was perfect for our son who just turned 10 and was starting puberty. It answered every single question he may have wanted to ask us but was too embarrassed or afraid. I would recommend this book to every mother/parent who has a son & would recommend that you read it first. Some of the content will be a review for your son - other content will be new!! I am so glad I found this book- it really explained what was happening to his body. Everthing from pimples, shaving, jock itch, etc.

My 10 year old has been brimming with questions for about 6 months now. Some from him, some from the school yard. His dad and I figured there were probably even more questions he wasn't asking us. So we got him this book as reference material that he could use on his own. When we gave it to him on a Sunday afternoon, his face lit up. "Thanks!" And he disappeared into it for the next several hours. We couldn't have hoped for a better response. He still asks questions, which is great. But it's also great that he has his own source of accurate information.

I previewed this book before giving it to my son, and I'm glad I did. For the most part, the book was fine, but when discussing sexuality, the authors didn't even mention chastity or morals. I was disappointed. But I recognize this is a secular book, and so I chose not to give it to my son.

Along with a game I ordered this book looked like it was shoved in a moving box. The front cover was bent and all the pages were bent like it had been checked out at a library several times. Embarrassing.

Great information, presented at their level. HOWEVER... there are things in there that I objected to, especially boy on boy crushes. Not what we expected. We will, however, use it to speak about morality all the way around.

Curfew and a few other things kind of get off topic, and are not something that this book should be interfering with as far as parenting goes. We felt that it was trying to do so.
