The other reviewers have given a good description of the book so all I will say is I could have waited for the paperback to be shipped for less money but I paid for the kindle version so I could read right away and I do not regret it at all! if you like shelly you will love this book. I loved seeing the guys and girls from her other books and it makes me want to go back and reread those books. She is an author that never disappoints.

You can never go wrong with a Shelly Laurenston aka G.A.Aiken book! I love Dee-Ann and have always had a soft spot for Ric. The storyline is good, the dialogue is laugh-out-loud quality. What more can you ask for?

So this book surprised me. In the best way possible. From Blayne's story, I didn't care for Dee or Ric that much. Now I love them and their weird ass relationship. Read this book or suffer. End of discussion.

I have thoroughly enjoyed all of Shelley Laurenston's shifter books. So much so that I cannot pick one as a favorite; they are all riotously hilarious, well written & hot!! This one is no different, and we finally get to see a softer side of DeeAnn :)

I bow down to the awesomeness that is paranormal author Shelly Laurenston! I have desperately waiting for Big Bad Beast to release since her last Pride book Beast Behaving Badly released last summer and I am so deliriously in love with this book because she does not disappoint!

Big Bad Beast is the 6th book in Laurenston's Pride series and we finally get Ric and Dee-Ann's story, which I was a bit skeptical about since they're such contrasting characters.

Dee-Ann is a born killer whose life revolves around protecting her family, those she cares about and the shifter community by ruthlessly killing all threats and enemies. She is a hardass wolf shifter who everyone is afraid of but amazingly she is paired up with Ric! Ric is a sexy wolf shifter who is an amazing chef that is inhumanly arrogant, polite, and good-natured. They seem to be complete opposites but as the saying goes, "opposites attract," and they definitely heat up the pages!

Big Bad Beast continues where the last book left off where Dee-Ann, Ric and the other previous main characters are trying to stop the hybrid kidnappings that result in brutal deaths due to cage fighting. I love how the plot revolving around the hunt for the mystery funder of the hybrid cage fights does not fall into background action but is expertly incorporated with the romance and other elements of the story. The hunt for the mystery funder is definitely one of the factors that kept me reading this book because I was sucked deeply into the story and wanted to know who the bad guy was!

I LOVE everything about this book and I am deeply grateful and impressed with how Laurenston incorporates all the past characters into each book and make them seamlessly fit while not detracting from Dee-Ann and Ric's spotlight. It was great seeing all the couples and how their lives are progressing, and I must say that there will be an endless number of times where you giggle or laugh out loud to yourself while reading this book. The amazingly created humor definitely keeps you speeding through the book by making it so much more fun to read!

Big Bad Beast is so far my favorite of the Pride series and I can't express how much I LOVE this series and author! Her works are always humorous and entertaining with great storylines and I recommend her books to any paranormal romance lover who wants a great laugh.

Great book with lots of action, humor and lovable characters - usual Shelly Laurenston story which never disappoints. I wanted to read Ric and Dee-Ann's story since he first saw Dee-Ann in the Mane Squeeze and this book was all I hoped for. Almost all the characters from the Pride series take part in the story also so it doubled the reading fun. All I can say is that if you have never read a Shelly Laurenston pride book, you need to try one. They are addicting. I wish she would publish more books throughout the year 'cause I read them too fast and then want more.

I have to admit, I was somewhat disappointed by Ms. Laurenston's last two books, The Mane Squeeze and Beast Behaving Badly. She has, however, more than made up for it with her newest installment in her Pride series, Big Bad Beast. Unlike The Mane Squeeze and Beast Behaving Badly, we are already familiar from prior books with the two main characters, Dee Ann Smith and Ric Van Holtz, so I was already interested in their lives. Or maybe I just like wolves better than bears (although admittedly the lions are my favorite). As with the first three installments of Ms. Laurenston's Pride series, the characters are charismatic and appealling. And there is no author in the paranormal romance genre who so successfully delivers comedic overtones as Ms. Laurenston. I found myself smiling and giggling throughout. But one of my favorite things about this book is Ms. Laurenston interweaves the main characters of her earlier Pride books, characters which I have come to adore over the years. So if you were somewhat let down by The Mane Squeeze and Beast Behaving Badly, give Big Bad Beast a chance, it will make your day. For those of you have not read any of Ms. Laurenston's books in the Pride series, I recommend reading them in order: The Mane Event (which is actully two books Christmas Pride and Shaw's Tail), The Beast in Him, The Mane Attraction, The Mane Squeeze and Beast Behaving Badly.

I love Shelly and especially this series so I could not wait to get this book when it came out.
I was very disappointed.
Half the book the two main characters aren't even together and instead of concentrating on thier relationship the book is mainly about the two characters relationship with the other main characters from the previous books in the series.

My advices would be skip this book wait for the next one.

Let Project Wolf-Wolf commence!! Ahhhh, nothing makes me happier than having a new Shelly Laurenston book in my hands. Everything, and I mean every-thing, I've read by her is laugh out loud, careful reading in public, funny. With the 6th book in the Pride Series, Shelly has continued to build on a truly multi-layered, multi-racial/shifter species, multi-crazies (aka families) world. From the lazy ass lions, insane wolves, hyper wild dogs, to well...Blayne, this is one world I can't wait to visit with each new book, and again on many rereads.

Big Bad Beast is Dee-Ann and Ric's story. Dee-Ann...what a tough nut she is. More comfortable fighting, snarling and fighting some more, little 6 year old Ric takes one look at her as a gangling 9 year old girl and knew she was the one for him. He loved her, and wanted to feed her forever! (He's in a family of chefs. It makes sense, I swear!) Fast forward 25 years and you've still got Ric who's falling hard and fast for Dee-Ann, who, is not falling hard for our sweetheart Ric. But never fear, Ric's smart, he's patient, and he knows just how to get Dee-Ann to want him just as much as he wants her. Watching these two dance around each other, come together and be together was so much fun.

With Dee on the case of tracking down who is funding illegal hybrid dogfights, we get a nice amount of story with Dez, a full human who mated Mace way back in book 1 and we meet their young son Marcus, a little lion shifter/lady killer ("it's because of his mane") in the making. The case brings in new characters, old friends, the hockey team, our favorite OCD polar bear shifter (lists and schedules ARE cool) and a huge get together for all the shifters at one of Ric's homes - or resort is more like it.

While the dogfighting plot may not be full of edge of your seat suspense, that's not what these books are about. Angst...there is none. Ric and Dee-Ann are very much yin and yang but watching, especially Dee-Ann become a different person in a very good way, around Ric is delightful. Many past characters get hilarious moments as well, all while keeping the story moving forward. It's so enjoyable how you KNOW each of the characters. Everyone has their very own, distinct personality and you'd know who was on page without ever needing to read their name. If you want 300+ pages of laughs, this book and the entire series won't disappoint.

Brilliant book. You should read it for the prologue alone. Ric's strategising around Deeann, his constant need to feed her, and his willingness to let her be herself was awesome. Loved how Ric was objectified. Some hilarious moments as per usual. Great to see Irene again. She makes me smile. Such a fantastic series.

This was definitely not a deep book. There were no major twists and turns. There was no great betrayal or misunderstanding and then come together moment. The book was just fun. It was very interesting for me to read a book with a hero that is not an alpha male- which is generally more what I go for. But Ric is still very much in control- just in a more sneaky way- which is exactly what he needs to get the heroine. i think this is what makes the romance believable. So many of the alpha male alpha female books leave you either disappointed because the female, for all her hype- bends too easily, or frustrated because she wont bend at all unless its in the bedroom. This instead made you laugh. I wont be re-reading and re-reading the book, but it was fun and did make me want to see more of the series and what happens to the great side characters!

Alright, I love the interaction between the old characters and the new, even brought in my girls from the Mangus Pack, wouldn't mind seeing more of them! I love that Lock is still getting the Shaw boys around, and not even realizing it! I love that Mitch continually throws his brother under the bus in favor of his hair. lol I did not find this book as funny as the last one, and I actually found it hard to read the parts about Bo, it makes him cold again, and after the last book it doesn't seem right.

I love that the two of them met when they were younger, and they liked each other then, and then they get back together when they are older, kismet. I like to see that DeeAnn is forming new friendships, or just friendships at all. Not only does it mean more books but I like how all of the books have that sense of girl power and friendship in them.

It was a good book, and I will read it again.

I am an avid paranormal romance reader. I have read all of Shelly Laurenstons book as well as J.R. Ward, Christine Freehan, Christine Warren, Sherrily Kenyon, Patricia Briggs, Kresely Cole, Karen Ann Moning, Gena Showalter and lots more. Why am I leaving a review now? Because this book has it all especially humor. The hero/heroine are lovable and mesh so well. The story is great and you get to see characters from past books, which I really enjoyed. But it was the humor that got me. I found myself laughing out loud at time. Really who know Dee-Ann was so funny and that her humor would bring it out of Ric? Well we did see a little of that in previous books but here you see the romance and connection these to have that make it all the more special. I read so many PNR series and I find that a good writer can keep them coming and still seem fresh. Not to say that some writes can hit a bad spot but Shelly has proven that she doesnt know what a bad spot in a series is and refuses to let her readers down. Thank you Shelly for a wonderful story and for giving me a book I will reread again and again.

While I have enjoyed all of Shelly Laurenston's Magnus Pack and Pride books, they can't be beat for some of the best humor ever written into romance, the last couple of heroes haven't worked well for me. I still loved the stories and had plenty of laughs but the ginormous size of the heroes was off putting to me. So I was thrilled to be back to a hero I could relate with, large, but not abnormally so, even if the heroine could look him in the eye. Dee Ann was a great heroine, much better than I ever expected and she and Ric's story is now my favorite in the series.

I was at work browsing the store during my lunch break when I realized this book had been released, at which point I immediately squeeled like a 13 yr old and did a little dance around the office, lol. Yes, my co-workers were a little disturbed and I think I may have heard whispers of questions regarding my sanity but I did not care. They could not understand that I waited what felt like FOREVER for this book and it boy, it did not disappoint. There's no need for me to go in a synopsis of the book, just read the prior reviews but I have to say LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Shelly's work. She just makes me happy to read.

I absolutely love Shelly Laurenston's series. I have every book in the series both ebooks and paperback. Dee-Ann Smith character is great. The premise for this book is great. She finds her perfect match in Ric Van Holtz. She is great in all the other books she makes an appearance. Great idea.............Dee-Ann pregnant and still on the job!!! I can't wait.
