Like some of you I didn't recognize the characters from the synopsis. Once I got into the story it all started coming together and I recognize them all. I had forgot about Caspian From Shadows claim reading about his continued journey in life and how he became the demon he was. I just have to say these two guys are hot, this book is hot. With a true friendship as their Foundation. This book was so well written, this is one of my favorite in the series a beautiful story.

FINAL DECISION: I loved this book which is funny, angsty in the Immortals After Dark fashion, and so intensely focused on the couple that I could forget that this is part of a series. Loved these two and their path to their HEA.
THE STORY: Prince Mirceo Daciano, a vampire from the semi-mythical Dacia, meets Caspion the Tracker, a demon. Mirceo wants to be more than friends with the demon, but instead settles for friendship until the two are dared to kiss by the three nymphs they had brought to their bed. The kiss opens up a whole new problem for the two. Caspion is determined to deny their attraction -- especially because he knows what a fickle creature Mirceo is. The possibility that the two are fated mates thrills Mirceo but he has to convince Caspion to give him a chance.
OPINION: The romance between Caspion and Mirceo takes so many twists and turns and has as much drama as I expect from an Immortals After Dark book.
Mirceo starts the book looking to score with Caspion. He is charming and funny and irreverent. He drives Caspion crazy with his determination, his humor and his willingness to do anything to prove the two belong together. Mirceo, however, has his own troubles that he hides under his charming facade.
Caspion is darker and more troubled on the surface than Mirceo. As he begins the book, he is entirely resistant to the possibility of having a sexual relationship with Mirceo insisting that he is only interested in females -- even though he is attracted to Mirceo from the beginning.
These two begin with friendship that bonds them (even though Mirceo wants more) and the two begin with very sexy encounters that draw them both into more emotional and deeper connections than either expects. This is the story of confounding expectations. The two are truly more together -- both as friends and partners -- than either expects.
I especially liked the intense focus on the relationship between these two. There is a nice dynamic of Mirceo being so open and insistent and Caspion being so resistant. When the two finally reach and accord, it really feels that the two have journeyed together, arguing and debating and considering.
I would have given this book 5 stars, but I thought the resolution of the story was a little rushed at the end.
WORTH MENTIONING: This is a m/m romance.
CONNECTED BOOKS: SHADOW'S SEDUCTION is the seventeenth book in the Immortals After Dark series and the second book in the sub-series The Dacians. This book is closest to a standalone as you will find in this series. It is completely possible to enjoy this book without reading other books or you can read the first in the Dacians SHADOW'S CLAIM. Of course, readers of the Immortals After Dark series
STAR RATING: I give this book 4.5 stars.

I read this book with some reservations. First, it is a M/M romance, which whatever, I don't care who does what, it just isn't something I find appealing in my romance novel. BUT I thought, hey this KC and IAD so I gave it a try. The release date kept getting pushed back, so I felt like the hype for it to come out helped encouraged me to give it a try. I really give her credit for putting it out there, and if this type of romance appeals to you - it is nicely done. I found for myself, that my initial reservations stuck and it didn't do it for me. Besides that here are some other reasons it did not earn a 5 star rating from me...
1. It took over half the book for her to get the series storyline and the ties to the overall story were weak. Nothing really happened that added to the story, so if this book was skipped, I don't know if it would make a difference in understanding subsequent books.
2. KC's writing voice felt different in this book. It lacked some of the witty/dark humor that she usually has. I am looking for the characters that held the same appeal as Lothaire and Regin. Nix, Sabine, and Melanthe got an appearance and those were my favorite parts of this book.
3. Spoiler alert here - when Caspion fled and centuries went by while Mireco hardly aged in his world ---> I felt like it was a rushed and weak way to give these two fairly young immortals an age difference. I understand this somehow needed to be done to make Mireco the submissive in the relationship and follows how most of the relationship have a large age difference. It helps add depth for most of the series, but in this book it missed the mark.
Sweet Ruin didn't touch me the same way earlier books have either. So to be fair, maybe I am just becoming disengaged with the series, but I really hope not because I still feel some emotional investment in the old time characters. For now though, I am not giving up on KC!!

This book seem rushed and forced, like the writer's heart wasn't into it. Either that or it was written by someone else. Some of the characters personalities didn't seem to be consistent with her other books. The story was slow and not very interesting, thankfully it was short because I rolled my eyes a lot while reading. Mirceo was portrayed as a rich spoiled brat that always got his way, when he didn't I was waiting for him to throw a tantrum like a 2 year old in the store. In past books, he didn't seem to be this way, even though his parts/mentions in others were small, it was never lead to believe he would be this bad. He was obnoxious. Cas had a lot of anger, which appeared to be consistent with his character. He was a major homophobe at first, which was surprising to me. The book started to get good at the end when it just seemed to stop. Mirceo and Cas hook up so apparently the backstory that was brought on at the end wasn't important enough to wrap up. I would have given it one star, but one it was short (thankfully) and two the chapters of the next book at the end were great! That book I am looking forward to. Her writing and story telling is back to its par, it seems in that one. However, the backstory she left in Shadow's Seduction, I don't see being wrapped up or even touched on during the next book. So a huge waiting cliff hanger on that part.

I love the lore and their stories in these books. I truly enjoy the light politics but this seemed more about sex. I felt that with a few of the last books and it was disappointing. I often brag to others about the amazing writing style of this author. I truly hope she doesn't waste her talents by pandering to her audience with constant sex scenes. I prefer less sex and more story. Please don't let us down. With that said,I love the way she writes her sex scenes. They just don't make a book for me. Another author lost me after 4 great books. The fifth and on devolved into nothing but sexual encounters and soon feeding the story to the reader. I'm all in on this series. Love this story line. Please be true to your craft and continue the stories

Kresley knocks this story out of the atmosphere!!!
The characters are so rich and the story so filled with emotions and feelings you're drawn from the start.
One very sexy demon and one arrogant Prince. On a dare the Prince, Marceo, approaches Caspian, who has been as straight as an arrow and fascinates Marceo with a proposition and the adventure begins!

This book was well written, but had nearly nothing to do with the series itself. It felt like the author wanted to test out a new idea and used the successful series to insure plenty of feedback. I will admit that gay romance isn't my cup of tea, but this was a sweet little novella. I was just expecting it to give me more in the series storyline.

VERY DISAPPOINTED. If you like these characters and prefer HETEROSEXUAL relationships, PASS on this book. Cole is an "always buy" for me and so I dismissed the negative reviews and got the book. (I wish people had been more honest about what's wrong with this book.) I went from reading, to skimming, to throwing it away. I could not finish it. (Will definitely be returning it.) Her books have gotten more and more depraved, but there's always such a great plot. This took perversity to a whole new level with no plot. I stopped reading J.R. Ward's BD Brotherhood series when it went in this direction... I really hope my favorite fantasy author, Kresley Cole, has not jumped the same toothy shark.

I had HUGE reservations about this book even though I love love love Kresley Cole and the IAD series. This was my first m/m book and I basically skipped all the sex scenes, but I wanted to see what developments in the IAD world. There are some nice plot advances especially to the Dacian storyline but I can't believe it ends on a cliffhanger! The next book - Wicked Abyss is not going to resolve it, so a bit upsetting. I hope Kresley Cole can start wrapping up some of the other major characters, Kristoff and Furie being at the top of my list!

Words cannot express how much I love this series! After you finish each book from the Immortals After Dark series you think there is no way it can get better but I assure you that it not only gets better it goes places you could never even imagine! I was pleasantly surprised when I seen that the next book would be
M/M but it fit in with the others perfectly. Shadow's Seduction was insanely HOT, full of heart pounding action and most of all, love. April can't get here fast enough!

I love this authors' stories, but before I read this one, I was worried because, Kresley has not done M/M story before. I didn't know if she could pull it off, but she did!!! I really liked both characters!
The only problem I have is, this series rocks, but there is not enough of the stories! I want MORE stories in this series!

Like many other devoted readers, I was concerned when the series veered out into completely new directions with Sweet Ruin & the announcement about Wicked Abyss since they introduced completely new pairings while our beloved characters dangled without resolution, some in peril (Munro, cough, Fury, cough). Then the male in male action further threw me for a loop. But please rest assured that my beloved Kresley is still in top form! This novella did NOT disappoint!! I may add to this later once I've reread it since I just devoured it in a few hours of bliss, but know that I am feeling that familiar sense of contentment & excitement that are IAD hallmarks! If you're on the fence, please don't deprive yourself of this wonderful installment! The only thing missing was a Nix appearance, but I feel certain that she has a hand in these newly-introduced Gaolers & the trouble they're causing. Plus the Wicked Abyss preview starts with her, so yay! I've learned my lesson & KC has earned my total & complete trust once again. My prayers & amateur voodoo will be solely directed towards helping her write faster only!! Caspion & Mirceo stole my heart & Kresley delivered her usual romance, passion, & exquisite world building. Bravo!! ? ? ?

Kresley Cole has once again created a fantastic book!
Mirceo & Caspian's book had me completely enthralled. Caspian's past childhood was heartbreaking & caused a lot of resistance to opening himself up to Mirceo. Mirceo on the other hand also suffered loss but had such a carefree look on life that very refreshing. They both complimented each other beautifully. This book like all the books in this series is full of action, mystery & romance. There is also appearances of past characters from the other books in the series. Very exciting read! I am looking forward to her next book.

This isn't the first same-sex relationship that we've seen in these stories I hope we see more. For this one however it was great and I love the fact that you know we head out of her overcome fears that weren't based necessarily on the fact that they were same sex.

Caspion the tracker is a demon who lived a beggars life as a child. Taking bounty's and collecting the rewards he now has riches of his own. Prince Mirceo Daciano is a spoiled vampire who has never wanted for anything, the moment he sees Caspion he wants him. Mirceo befriends Caspion, together they will love and fight side by side, but Mirceo wants much more then that.

Absolutely Awesome! Just loved this story. This story for Caspion and Mirceo was great! I was so glad that the two of them found their way back to each other and are on their quest to find Kosmina. So glad that Kosmina and Balery got in the mix along with Trehan and Bettina. Oh Lothaire! You won't win with Elizabeth reminding you about fairness! Nix is a great story teller! Cannot wait for Wicked Abyss! Once again Ms. Cole does not disappoint. Wished I could have ten stars to rate the story.

Ooookey this is definitely one of my favorite book in the IAD series! Wow, how can one write this hot guy on guy action?!? I know it has a lot of bad reviews because of it but I thought Kresley did this very very well, OMG. The book has this love/hate relationship, denial, chase, combat, lust, two strong males, a demon and a vampire, it has a good and steady pace and it's greatly written. No one can take this 5 star away from my review. Just keep an open mind while reading, the sex is goooood. Enjoy, you only live once.

Absolutely loved it! It was a great story that added more plots to the table! In my readings I have found that most authors that mainly write heterosexual romance novels can have a lot of difficulty writing a believable and enjoyable homosexual romance. Usually there will be a change in the character's behavior or it seems like the author is just trying too hard to make it work. However, there were none of those awkward 'I have no idea how to write a same-sex couple' scenes or deviations from previous character development. This is a well written and engaging novel. I absolutely can't wait for her next novel. Another 5 star for Kresley Cole!

I was very disappointed in this I.A.D. Installment! So much so I am debating whether or not to buy the next one.
I couldn't get in to the man on man action at all!
No desire to be in the middle of the action at all either!
I have not been able to get back into the story to finish it.
Perhaps it is time to get a new series going!
I own a lot of the I.A.D. Books in paperback as well as e-book. Had I spent the money on a paperback,I would have been very upset!.
How about Nix's story? Let's get the Valkerie back!
PS. The new covers suck! Go back to the art work please not photos!
