I love Sawyer Bennett and I absolutely adore Juliette Poe!
Jake and Laken's story was the perfect read on a rainy afternoon, it put a huge smile on my face and kept me so entertained!
I loved these two characters! Throw in some goats as well and you have yourself a great read! Jake was just so swoony and Laken was the strong heroine I always love to read about. These two had amazing chemistry and their banter was hilarious and entertaining.
I highly recommend this book, I will be reading all the books in the series!
I received an arc and volunteered a review.

This uncorrected advance copy was provided by the publisher for an honest review. Welcome back to Whynot, N.C. for another sweet story about love in a southern town. I loved Laken and Jake, they have great chemistry and are both strong characters. Watching their relationship develop as they fell in love was entertaining. As with the other books in this series, there are great supporting characters, although in this case several are the “furry” kind. Herman’s POV is a cute addition to the story. Thoroughly enjoyed this story, it was an entertaining, sweet, and sexy (without being raunchy) read.

I was charmed from the beginning of this story about Laken, one of the Mancinkus twins and the local veterinarian, and Jake McDaniel, a former pro football player turned big city business man and now local goat owner/farmer. Their first meeting is the perfect cute-meet and sets the tone of the story. Getting to know Laken, Jake, and yes, even Herman the dog was such a pleasure and kept me entertained I didn't want it to end. Great thing there are two more siblings! I highly recommend this book along with the previous two.

Juliette Poe's "Barking Up The Wrong Tree" is the third tale in The Sex and Sweet Tea series. Laken is the Vet in the small town of Whynot, NC. She is taken aback when a tall, dark and handsome stranger comes barging into Chesty's looking for the vet. He needs his help. What he doesn't expect is the icy welcome from Laken, considering he assumed the vet was a man. Jake needs the help of the town vet, he recently bought a farm and his goats got out. He has had a bad week and this isn't helping. Will Laken help him after he was a butthead? Find out in this awesome read!!!

Another fantastic book by Juliette Poe! She is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors! Such a funny, light hearted read! In Barking Up the Wrong Tree we have one of the Mancinkus twins, Laken and handsome city boy Jake. You get to see some of cast from the previous books, including everyone's favorite, Pap. Throw in a baby goat with mommy issues and Laken's lovable pup, Herman and you have a book full of laughs!

Laken's life is in the Whynot and Jake's is in Chicago, so it makes their relationship difficult. Thanks to the baby goat Jake keeps coming back, and love blossoms between him and Laken. Somehow they learn to find a way to make ti work.

Loved this book. If you are looking for a light hearted, fun book this series is for you! They keep getting better with each book too.

4.5 Miss Goatikins stars!!!

A sweet, charming and romantic story that left me with a happy heart and a love sick grin!! I can't get enough of the homely, welcoming feel of this little town of Whynot and it's residents! I loved the palpable chemistry between Jake and Laken, and their banter was always so easy going and natural. And I loved how Juliette Poe always ties in the next characters for the next book into the story so easily! A genuine feel good story, packed with lots of swoony moments and quirky banter!

I absolutely adored Laken and Jake's story!!!
It's sweet , no angst, flirty and fun, with great characters and the quirky town of Whynot as background! Even Laken's dog and an adorable baby goat are truly charming. Pap is always around with his strong and no nonsense personality, offering advice when needed.
I am so charmed by both Laken and Jake..both independent and both go after what they want. Laken is stubborn and Jake is soo sweet.
I love this little town and the Mancinkus.

Each Sex & Sweet Tea book that I read becomes my new favorite - I love each one a little more than the next due in no small part to the amazing characters of Whynot that appear in each book and steal a little piece of my heart every single time.

This is Laken's story, a small town vet called into action when a city slicker buys a local farm and doesn't know a single thing about farming. Laken's sass and wit are the best parts of her, I do love me a strong female lead. And I have to say, a hot city boy raising a baby goat is basically the most adorable plotline in the history of ever. Not to mention the parts of the book written in Herman's (the dog) point of view!

This book, like the rest in this series, is sweet and magic without a lot of angsty drama and it's just good for the soul! The perfect sweet & sassy romance.

This series can't be anymore sweeter and it makes me want to move to Whynot every time I finish a book! Barking Up the Wrong Tree is all about the sassy town's veterinarian, Laken Mancinkus. Laken had her heart broken in the past by a city-boy and she has no interest in repeating the past. She loves living close to family and taking care of the local animals. But when big city businessman, Jake McDaniel blows into town, it changes it all for Laken.

Small town dynamics is one of my favorite elements used in a romantic comedy and Juliette Poe delivers. Along with family, friends and a parent-confused farm animal, this story is funny, sexy and a little serious when it needs to be. This author's characters are loveable, relatable but not without flaws. If you love a good fish out of water story with a hot hero who goes head to head with a smart, feisty heroine, don't pass this one up.

Laken has her family, her dog Herman and her vetenarian practice, what does she need with a steady man in her life? Jake comes crashing in, literally in a panic and has his work cut out for him to thaw out Laken. But really what's cuter than a big guy with a baby goat, hearts would surely be melting. This is a fun installment in the series, with high and low points to pull at your heart strings. Must say I love Herman's chapters.

Well Juliette Poe has done it again. She gave us another GREAT addition to her Sex and Sweet Tea Series.

Barking Up the Wrong Tree is the third book in her interconnected standalone series. Each book can be completely enjoyed without reading the previous books, but being that we are following one family and the people they love, my suggestion would be to read these books in order.

I am absolutely in love with this softer side of Sawyer Bennett. She gives us just the right combination of sweet and sexy to make these books just melt into your soul. She really makes me want to live in Whynot, NC and to be friends or a member of the Mancinkus family.

Barking Up the Wrong Tree is a standalone novel told in Dual POV and is an opposites attract love story. This is a complete story with NO cliffhanger. The storyline is fun and entertaining. This is the perfect book to read at the beach or sitting by the pool. the characters are relatable and lovable. This book isn’t filled with a lot of drama or angst, which I have come to find refreshing. This book isn’t also overloaded with sexy time scenes. It’s just enough to let you imagination run away with the characters ;)

In this book we follow the story of Laken and Jake. Laken is one of the twins in the Mancinkus family. She is Whynot’s local vet. Jake is the city boy who has purchased a farm in Whynot for financial and personal reasons. What he wasn’t expecting was to come into town and find out that his foreman has quit and his goats have gotten loose. That’s right….he bought a goat farm. So looking for help he wanders into Chesty’s (the local watering hole) looking for someone to help corral his goats. Enter Laken….

What happens from here is a journey of two people who would never normally be matched up finding a way to make it work. I loved watching both Jake and Laken open their hearts to new possibilities. Jake is your typical swoony Sawyer Bennett Hero and I absolutely fell hard for him. Laken is your sassy, stand on her own heroine, who has some serious trust issues, due to a past relationship that hurt her. I thought they were a great match. My only complaint about this book, was I would’ve liked to get an epilogue….I felt that the end of the story was kind of abrupt and I wanted just a little more. Hopefully as the remaining books come out we will see more of Jake and Laken and how their story turns out.

I liked that we got to see some of the other past characters from the previous books, but they truly were in the background of the story. I liked getting to know Larken (Laken’s twin) a little more. I also liked that we met some new characters and I think I know who the next book will be about and I look forward to their story!!!

I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of Sawyer Bennett’s. You are going to want to see this side of her writing. This is the perfect read for anyone who is looking for a quick, sweet, and spicy read to leave you with a smile on your face.

What an awesome and heartwarming novel! If you love cute romantic comedies, then Barking up the Wrong Tree is the perfect novel for you. This book has everything you need in it. There is plenty of heat, romance, adorable little animals, a hot male, and a quirky female. Add in all the hilarious scenes and you have yourself one wonderful little book to keep you entertained.

The plot of this book is much like most romance novels. What takes this book to the next level, is the way the author transforms the story. Yes, this is a boy meets girl book, but it is also real life decisions and complications with a side of humor. I feel this makes this book relatable to the readers. Not every relationship is perfect, and this book shows that. There comes a time when you have to decide if it’s worth fighting for.

Laken is a great character. She is so spunky. I love that she is so stubborn because she reminds me of me. I also love that she doesn’t just give in to anyone’s whims, even her own sometimes. Her past has been haunting her and it was interesting to see how she would handle her present while overcoming her past. Jake is a gorgeous character. I mean I would love to fall for a rich man who also cares deeply about animals and really is not afraid to get dirty. While he seemed to think he knew what he wanted, he had his own little self-discovery to go through.

The heat in this book is muted from most books that I have read, but honestly it was refreshing. So often authors focus on the intimate parts of the book that they lose sight of the story. I like that the author used flirting and implied intimacy to showcase the relationship between these two. I wish I had seen a little bit more, but it didn’t take much away from the novel.

My favorite part of this book is Herman. More specifically, the fact that this author totally wrote parts of the story from his point of view. It is such a charming way to include such an important part of Laken in the book. Seriously, Kudos for this because I think this was the cutest way to include him in a unique way. The pace of this story is steady and I loved all the minor characters as well.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It is obviously part of a series, but can be read as a standalone, as that is what I did. I really enjoyed the characters and really hope to see more books about Darby and Colt and maybe some other minor characters included. Overall, great job!

Squeeze! Barking Up the Wrong Tree is yet another sweet, lighthearted, cute romance from Juliette Poe. I am really falling in love with this series. Maybe it is the small town feels – the close-knit people, the beautiful scenery, the animals and the farm life and all Whynot has to offer.

This one is about one of the twins Laken who is a town veterinarian. Laken hasn’t always been a small-town girl. She had her eyes on big city living once – the big practice, the clothes, the busy lifestyle. But things did not work out as she had hoped. Laken moves back home for a fresh start. She opens a small clinic and is content with being surrounded by families, but her dating life is nonexistent. Laken has no problem with having a little fun rolling in the hay but she is no longer interested in commitment or a relationship.

Jake is a city boy, ex-football player who bought a farm nearby for tax break purposes. Jake knows nothing about farming or taking care of the animals. So, when his goats run rampant though the city, one being pregnant, Jake panics. He needed major help and lucky for him Laken never turns her back on animals, even after Jake had insulted her intelligence the first time they met. I adore Laken and her feisty, honest personality. She does not sugar coat anything – what you see is what you get. The only thing is I am not sure why I cannot picture what she looks like J. Jake, sigh… I can imagine: rugged, buff, bearded — a handsome guy with a big teddy bear heart. Jake is in so much trouble at the farm but God love him he tries hard. Jake is sweet, kind, and quite swoony, not to mention a sex God in bed J. It did not take long for Laken and Jake to get handsy with each other. After all, they are both attractive, single and willing to have a fun time with no strings attached. The only problem is Jake wants more and Laken does not. Laken is set in Whynot and Jake’s life is in Chicago. A long distance relationship would never work, would it?

This book is gorgeous – the cover, the writing, the story told in several points of view including Herman. Geez, so freaking adorable – I was secretly hoping for Ms. Goatskins’ point of view as well ?

This was such a sweet, romantic, fun and heartwarming read. I love the small-town premise – adorable and refreshing. LOVED IT.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book

I LOVE Sawyer Bennett books and so when I heard she had a new name and a new series I ran to read it. And I have beyond LOVED this series. I loved books 1 and 2 and I could not wait to get my hands on this book. I enjoyed this book, the writing was as terrific as her other books and the characters were definitely ones I fell hard for but this was the first time that I can think of where she included an ex lover/wife in the actual story. And this took away from the story for me. I kinda cringed at those scenes.

Now had it been an ex where they were together 1 year and were like oops I would have been more understanding but it was 10 years. She was his teacher in college and they were married 10 years happily, but they grew apart and they have only been divorced 1 year. Yes she is dating another guy and yes neither are in love with the other but they still have great affection for the other. And she is many scenes. And yes one night her and her sister share a house with Jake. And this took away from my love of Jake.

The rest of the book was terrific. Laken and Jake meet when he needs help with his goats. I LOVED that aspect of the story. I have never given goats much thought but they just seemed like a lot of fun in this story.

Jake and Laken start out with a one night stand butwhen the goats need Jake he comes rushing back to town and he and Laken start a just sex relationship. I love that Jake is a fighter and Laken is one too. We see alot of Paps and Trixie in this story and I really loved that story.

This was a great story and I really enjoyed my visit to WhyNot.

Wow...each book in this series just keeps getting better and better! This book is about Laken Mancinkus and Jake McDaniel. Laken is the vet in Whynot, NC and I just adored her. She gives it just as good as she gets it! Having been burned by an ex in her past, Laken is leary of wealthy, alpha men.

Of course Jake, a wealthy, alpha, ex-football play comes crashing into her world in such a fun way. The first meeting between these two was priceless. When Laken finally decides to give Jake some pity, that is when the fun begins!

Jake has bought a farm with goats on it and he doesn't know the first thing about farming, but he does have a good heart and is at least trying. When Laken realizes that the goats are underfed and possible sick, she can't help but get involved. Of course spending all this time with Jake isn't so bad...he is really nice to look at. Things progress quickly to a friends with benefits relationship. Even quicker, Jake starts having stronger feeling for Laken, but because of things from her past, she just won't commit to anything more than just friends with benefits.

When Jake finally pushes Laken a little too far, things explode. It takes a while for these two to find their happy ever after, but it was really worth it. I just adored Miss Goatikins and they way Jake was with her, you can't help but fall for him!

All of Laken's family members make appearances, especially Pap. He has a bigger story line in this one. Wish I had a grandpa like him! Overall this was a wonderful book and I highly recommend it!

Laken Mancinkus is the local vet in Why Not, North Carolina. Some rich guy comes into Paps bar looking for the vet as his goats got loose and he doesn't know how to catch them. Laken can't believe some city boy bought the big farm in town and doesn't even know how to farm. He introduces himself as Jake McDaniel from Chicago and says he bought the farm as a tax write off. He ends up having all kinds of problems such as his farm manager quitting, not understanding how to handle his goats, a baby goat thinking he is the goats momma and wil only eat from him, wanting to get to know Laken better, and living in Chicago.

This book was so good. I loved that Ms Poe had chapters where we heard what the dog was thinking. There were some very funny parts in the book that had me laughing. Laken had a bad break up with a rich, big city veterinarian that put her off relationships. She is very attracted to Jake but does not want to call what they are doing as dating. I loved the great relationship Jake had with his ex wife. Laken and Jake have their ups and downs trying to have a relationship. I strongly encourage you to read the book. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book.
