Once more BV Larson writes an energetic tale of humanity attempting to survive in a hostile universe. Leo Blake is the greatest starship captain on earth and proves once again that while a newcomer, earth can and will fight to survive.

This storyline is ridiculous, full of improbable situations led by a buffoon and could have been told in no more than 100 pages. Based upon the reviews, the majority of the SF readers of this book, rated it highly, whereas, I would rate it as trash can material.
Please, if you want to read a good science fiction book, there are many out there. Try Tori Harris (The Terran Fleet Command) or Nathan Lowell (Trader Tales of the Solar Clipper) as examples.
Mr. Larson can write a good story, such as (Undying Mercenaries), but Alpha Fleet was not one of the good ones.

Another great one from BV Larson! Very entertaining latest episode in the Rebel Fleet Series featuring Leo Blake.
I stumbled across the Star Force Series a couple of years ago and have been reading his works since. I really like his take on things as he doesn't sugarcoat human nature but is patently optimistic about our potential. He shows a sufficient scientific and military acumen to allow a reader to immerse without being distracted, and has enough of a sense of irony and humor to have a little fun with his characters. If you haven't read them yet I highly recommend his other series and works. They're well developed and coherent and have a bit of old school SciFi flavor that make them really fun (think Asimov, Heinlein, Del Rey, Drake, et al).

A classic spy novel of intrigue and suspense set in the Second World War :: The Night Manager (Penguin Modern Classics) by Carré :: Night Watchman (The Tubby Dubonnet Series) (Volume 7) :: The Night Manager :: Rebel Fleet

Larson just keeps getting better. This Rebel Fleet series has a lot of similarities to his first effort, the Star Force series, but is more polished, and fun. The incorrigible protagonist, Leo Blake, is easier to like than many of his predecessors, and the complexities of galactic politics is well portrayed. Blake's resolution of potential extinction-level events through sheer wit (and bs) is particularly amusing and believable. As I have noticed in the past, Larson has a lot of Laumer and Heinlein in him - there is an unself-conscious grandiosity which hearkens back to the golden age of Science Fiction.

Not much different from the first two books--just more of the same. It has the usual competitive beat down scene and tediously obnoxious character found in many of Larson's books. At best it's OK for killing a few hours but definitely doesn't break any new ground. It also seems to be shorter than the previous Rebel Fleet books.

B. V. Larson wrote a great story with adventures and intrigue that wouldn't stop. It includes a love story and thoughts that trigger defensive reactions is anyone who reads it with vision. An alien that can assume anyone's shape would truly be devastating, especially if they can also cloud thought patterns. Well done B. V.

Good entertaining piece of military sci fi, but the main character, and broad storyline, is too similar to his undying mercenary series (the one where the title the second word is always "world"). Less focus on Blake sleeping around and more on the action and interplay between other characters this time.

Larson is a master of weaving a gripping novel to the end. The Rebel Fleet series was no disappointment; a page turner. Not only does the reader get two protagonists, we are given a hero with weaknesses as well as strengths, as it should be. Casual readers should be forewarned, this series is a page turner. It is nearly impossible to put the book down for any period of time.

This has everything - Intergalactic conflict with too many devious races to keep straight - A mad scientist who cooks and saves their bacon alternately - Jim Rockford as Starship captain Blake - and sex with a predatory feline alien - the good guys are few and far between except for Blake and some of his crew. It's a book you really have to work to put it down.

This series is another success from this author. The universe it's written is creative and a little fantasmical. You read it and you wonder how something like it could truly operate. Then you remember Washington of present day and it all makes sense....

B. V. Larson writes an excellent story and series. He builds very realistic characters and has developed a very real universe. It is action packed, funny, and sends your emotions in a rollercoaster ride. It will keep you on the edge of your seat and make you neglect your chores. Can't wait for more

This series is interesting and funny but keeps you wondering when everything is going to fall apart. There are so many things going on that I keep wondering when things will go wrong and that's it for earth.

World building, loveable & despicable characters, BV Larson is the best! A great story teller, I have lost count of the number of books I have from this prolific author...you keep writing them & I'll keep reading them! Thanks BV

Straight forward simple scifi. Nothing ground breaking. I like his first series best. His main characters are all pretty similar. I would describe larson like a Saturday morning cartoon. Familiar. Fun. But not enlightening like Neal Stephenson.

Great read. I am with the others though. Hard to invest in future series if you leave everyone hanging with a story. Anyway, I appreciate the effort and skill you put into your art; but would like to have closure on the story. Don't mean to sound ungrateful....
