Copy of the audio book graciously provided by the author. Excellent story!

You have a gargoyle, wizard, water fae, witch, dragon, vampire, haunted cameos, ghosts, cursed pawn shop, shifters, demons and other beings that we don't know exactly what they are yet. A really good story with enough unanswered questions that makes me want to run out and actually read the next book in the series as I want more, lots more. Vale and Anne are going to make an amazing couple. Can't wait for the romance to start, cause you know it's coming :)

Thank you Ms Owens for creating another amazing world

At first I was apprehensive; I adore dragon stories, but many authors just can't do a creative take on these majestic creatures. I found myself captivated by Anne's world of magic and power, her unwillingness to release her full power in fear of the dire consequences. Her partner-in-crime is simply outlandish and wonderful comic relief without being too overwhelming to Anne's personality. And I admit, Anne's quest-turned-hotty had me intruiged and glued to the pages. I started and finished in one sitting. Can't wait to read the next one!

I have followed Tricia Owens' work for many years now and faithfully read her Juxtapose Fantasy series. I am now so pleased to see her writing talent in more tales. I was at first skeptical of the genre itself but because I have enjoyed immensely her other work, I decided to give it a try. I was immediately captivated, not only by the plot (which others have summarized well enough) but by the quirky characters. I was happy to see the array of multicultural characters (THANK YOU for that and thank you TO for not making them empty stereotypes!) especially Melanie, her Mexican American sidekick, who made me laugh heartily. Tricia Owens does not disappoint. I cannot wait for the rest of the series. I gave it 4 stars because I know this is just a warm up. It is going to get even better.

This story was so interesting. I liked the characters.. loved how the plot went and it held my attention until I had to keep reading. I love how they went through everything and came out for the better. I also really love dragons so that was a major plus. I am so glad I got to review it and cant wait for book 2

This was another delightful entertaining read from a favorite author. She doesn't disappoint. The story is developed and kept me interested throughout the book. And just like any other good book left me wanting to know more about the characters. Knowing Trish Owens writes book series, this can be read as a stand alone. I was yet again waiting with anticipation for the next in the series.

As another reviewer said, you can't put this book down! I wanted to write a review that would have everyone scurrying to get this book, but now unbelievably all I can say is if you enjoy the genre, this is a Must read!!! I can't wait to get started on the next in the series. In fact, I wish I could be standing behind her as she produces each book. Happy reading.

I really liked the characters and thought they were different. The story was interesting and I was intrigued by the main characters. However I'm undecided if I want to read the next book. Even though I liked this story and the characters in just unsure of I want to continue.

A paranormal romance with a wicked twist, two outcasts who have been bought together by a curse. Dealing with a age old beliefs which outcast them with complex curse's, and big bad guy's round out this tale of love and romance? The mixture of what happens next and comically delivered solutions make's this ta!e shine above the rest. A very enjoyable story that !eaves you want more.

Great start to a new series. A sorceress that runs a pawn shop gets dragged into a mystery surrounding a gargoyle and demons. A lot of action, plenty of paranormal and a little romance. It was a relatively clean book, no excessive swearing, sexual references or action.
The editing could use some work but it wasn't often so I was able to ignore it.
Overall, a good book.

I enjoyed reading this tale which was at turns very humorous and nail-bitingly intense. Rich world building, entertaining and well developed characters. If you like tales of magic, smart-alec heroines and deadly foes who are unmasked and defeated just in the nick of time, this is the tale for you. I'm off to download the next book in the series.

This book isn't doing anything but frustrating me. This book turned into a hot mess of scenes with a limited amount of direction...The plot is sloppy the MC motivation is nonexcisten, the arc confusing. It's overly disorganized & seems to have an identity crises. Not for me."

The story line is nicely put together and flows in a steady pace. although this is the first book, the characters are nicely fleshed out. Narration is great. the story makes you want to move to the next book in the series!

This world was an adventure itself, and I loved all the characters, even to the eccentric demon summoning teenaged neighbor. Anne was a fabulous character, who seemed to take everything as is. She’d help where she could, even if it meant endangering herself. She has friends in low places, which made the story even better. I never knew what supernatural being was going to be unveiled next. Loved Vale and the sparks between him and Anne.
Lucky, her dragon familiar was so cool, and I was lost in every moment when Anne was getting lost to her dragon heritage.

Definitely intrigued enough to check out the other volumes.

Reader Rated for ages 18+ for sensuality and one on page mildly detailed sex scene; also for mild language and real life grit.

Anne Moody, a dragon sorceress, runs her uncle's cursed pawn shop, stocked with both mundane items and cursed items, in none other than Sin City, Las Vegas. Missing her uncle since he disappeared, she makes do with her friends and tries to stay under the magical radar of the Oddsmakers who believes her species will lose control of their dragons and take over the city, and, as such, must be constantly watched. One day, someone pawns a gargoyle who is actually a shifter cursed by a demon and unable to shift back to human form. In trying to help Vale, the trapped and cursed gargoyle, Anne realizes there's more going on here than she realized. Someone is trying to get rid of the Oddsmakers and take over Sin City. Does Anne, Vale, and her friends have the ability to save both Vale and the city? Or, in the process of saving the city, will Anne give in to her dragon form and join in the destruction?

This was such a fun and interesting read! I really enjoyed the excellent writing, the tightly-woven plot, the really likable characters, and the fast action. The book had all types of paranormal creatures, including dragons, magic users, succubi, and witches. There was only one thing I wish were different. I found the book too short. I think it would have been made an excellent full-length novel if there had been even more detail, and it was excellent the length it was. This was the first of a series, and I really can't wait to get my hands on the second to see how things development romantically between certain characters. If you enjoy light, fun, well-written urban fantasy with some romance thrown in, I highly recommend you get this book! It is well-worth it!

Thanks to NetGalley and Romance Beckons for the advanced copy which I voluntarily reviewed. This exact review posted on both the store and Goodreads.

Descended from Dragons by Tricia Owens
(Moonlight Dragon Urban Fantasy Mystery Series, Book 1)

This was a super fun read, a unique magical setting, and the star of the show who gets in more trouble than she can handle - or can she? Anne Moody is a sorceress who is descended from dragons, and she has powers; one is the command of a dragon. It's a constant fight for her not to burn down the city, but she's becoming more adept. She runs a pawn shop in Las Vegas, and the occasional magical object comes her way. When she buys a gargoyle statue, little does she know that it houses a real gargoyle and a demon, all in the same little package. And it's no accident she ended up with it. When her cryptic cursed magical cameo jewelry tells her she will meet the love of her life, but he will try to kill her, she has no idea what that means, but she's about to find out. What's a poor little sorceress to do when she's looking for love in all the wrong places? Her best friend is a human/monkey shapeshifter, and monkeys are always up for getting into trouble with you. Of course, there is a fierce battle in the end that threatens the very existence of Las Vegas. This is a well written, fast paced magical novel complete with dragons, demons, sorcerers and hot guys and gals. Lots of awesome kooky characters. It's funny and witty and an all around great read. If you like kick-ass heroines, gotta read this one. And, even though it's the first in a series, it is not a cliffhanger. It stands alone and still makes you want more. *****Five Stars ~Sandy Penny, sweetmysterybooks.com Book 2 coming soon, and I can't wait to review it.
