This story is a real classic. This book was given to me by a dear friend 30 years ago and she had read it to her children . My kids LOVED it and now they are reading to their children who LOVE it. It's a fun, fun story that will stay with them forever.

We follow this little duck and sympathize with him as he avoids the whack of the stick by
swimming away instead of going on board his boat with all his relatives. His adventures are
nearly disastrous, but happily, he is rescued and is reunited with his family, even though
he has to feel the inevitable whack because he is last on board. It was worth it to be back
with his family again. There's no place like home!

Cute story, it is helpful for cultural exploring and just a sweet little read. It is not a favorite of mine, I like books that allow me to naturally share ideas and concepts and that doesn't seem to flow as well with this story. You really can't go wrong with it and the children enjoy it, it's just not as fabulous as say the "the empty pot" by Demi. I wish I'd got it from a library vs owning it now. Let me know if this helped you.
