Interesting theme. Held my interest right to the end. Heroine naive for a woman of her years and position she held. Well written gave a real sense of where she lived and worked and a sense of untouchability that middle class people feel that have never been touched by violence. What kind of person is she as her relationship with her family would appear to be superficial.

This book was most interesting. The plot was very unique and the onset of the story gave nothing away as to the real purpose of the story. I loved it and would recommend to readers who love a twist to a story.

I enjoyed this book, definitely a page turner. Louise Doughty certainly understands the problems successful women face in the work place. I felt the final section of the book dragged a little bit but otherwise a very believable read.

Very stylish, very intense and absorbing, well and carefully written, with credible characters and close, subtle examination of motives and reactions. There's one twist in the plot which is slightly predictable, but on the whole the narrative is exceptional.

Story was good, some unexpected twists. I'd probably read it again sometime down the line. The book is written in first person, and the author puts you into the story with her use of "you and I." It isn't until the third part of the book where we find out the actual name of "you."

There is a slight feeling of calculated construction to this book, but the smartness, the originality of the point of view, and the psychological insight all add up to make it compelling and fulfilling.

A well structured unputdownable book. Held in suspence to the last page. The writer is a natural story teller who without using new fangled techniques manages to captivate. Will certainly read her other books now.

I liked her narrative style and her prose.I enjoyed how she divuldged limited information and facts and then wove the story. There was continuity through out with interest, curiosity and adventure.Although the affair was almost preposterous, after I finished the novel there was a shivering reality that "there but for the grace of God go I."

Great read, something a bit different to my usual taste. I found it unpredictable and the story kept me guessing what next. I thought the ending needed more explanation and the husbands character was a little undeveloped.

From some previous reviews I was expecting a surprising twist or unexpected ending - some shocking revelation. Though I enjoyed the writing well enough, the conclusion left me feeling let down. However having visited London a few years ago, I did enjoy the description of streets, landmarks and buildings.

This book was more about the impacts of an affair than on the trial. It highlighted how an affair imparted the thoughts of a woman and was a study in that. The trial itself was just a crutch used to tell the story.

It was well written, but I didn't think any characters were, well, likeable.
