This copy is clearly a riff from other Little Red Books. Some of the typesetting is a little careless, the spacing and page setup could be better, but it does contain the same essays as other Little Red Books. The thing with this one is the price is right.

The content is fine; a little on the overkill side if you have read your Big Book and 12 and 12. But, either no one proofed the thing or the person who did failed grammer. The mistakes make for a tough read.

This book is published from BN Publishing not Hazelton. The print layout is hard to read, there are typos and the wording is different from the Hazelton "Little Red Book". If you are looking for the "Little Red Book" order from Hazelton Publishers
Red: A History of the Redhead :: 10 God-Given Strategies for Difficult Times - The Red Sea Rules :: A Dead Red Heart (The Dead Red Mystery Series - Book 2) :: The Psychology of Achievement :: The Red Umbrella

I love the content of this book - it is practical, informative and filled with good solid information for the practice of the twelve steps of Alcoholics Anonymous.

My biggest problem, which brought it down from what would have been a five star review to a three star, is the copy editing or lack thereof. The formatting throughout the entire book is inconsistent. Sometimes there are spaces after the paragraphs sometimes there aren't. Sometimes the text even breaks off in the middle of the sentence. I don't get it - is it really that difficult to get a decent copy editor?

A historical clarification: this fascinating little book, although published nowadays by Hazelden, was originally written by a man named Ed Webster, who was closely associated with AA co-founder Dr. Bob. As is noted by some historians of AA, this book is a good indication of what Dr. Bob taught newcomers and what he thought was the way to approach the steps. As such this little book deserves a careful look by anyone interested in the 12 Steps. It was sold through AA's NYC office while Dr. Bob was still alive, but after his death, and with the publishing of Bill W.'s 12 & 12, this book became less known, although still widely used for many years.

This book fills a gap in modern AA literature and tradition. It's a blast from the past of wisdom of AA elders tightly edited into a pocket-sized book. It's a great companion to a pocket-sized Big Book. The Little Red Book cuts to the core of each of the 12 steps and offers pithy and punchy observations and directions. It's a no-nonsense step-through of each of the steps complete with single sentence summaries, Big Book references, and overviews. It brings the steps alive and enhances appreciation of the Big Book. The Little Red Book is a must have (and carry).

This is a Hazelden book specifically written as a study aid to The Big Book. It helps to clarify and illuminate the 12 step process and is often used by sponsors as they guide their sponsees through the steps. It is a tool which, if used in addition to (and not in replacement of)the basic program literature, may add a layer of depth and understanding to the step process. This book is also used as the basis of step-study groups in some areas. It appears to have been used to a much greater extent in the past than it is now and it deserves a second look for what it may have to offer.

I owned this book early in sobriety (my fogged out years). It never carried much weight with me then (not that much reading material did). 20 years later I picked up another copy and it all makes sense now and has become one of my favorites. It is very clear & precise in explaining the steps and other aspects of recovery without the grandeur (my opinion) of the 12x12. When the pupil is (finally) ready, the messenger (message) will appear.

If you are recovering from Alcoholism or desire to, this book along with "The Big Book" (real title "Alcohoics Anonymous") are absolute musts.
This book skillfully and lovingly takes you through each of the 12 Steps. It helps the reader to work out an acceptable schedule for living each 24 hours, one day at a time.
The Little Red Book is written from practical experience by other alcoholics who have found peace of mind and contentment in sobriety.
Do not let the size of this book deceive you! It is jam packed with practical advice and insightful suggestions to help anyone who desires to recover from alcohlism.

This book offers an amazing platform for considering the 12 steps in greater depth, explaining each step from a spiritual and practical perspective. I highly recommend this book to those new to the steps, or to anyone interested in improving their understanding and living a better life.

This is for the sake of accuracy. the store mistakenly attributes this very helpful book's authorship to Bill W. In fact, the book was written by Ed Webster - Ed W. - in Minneapolis, Mn. back in the early 40's and then (I believe) revised in the later 40's. This takes nothing away from either the value of the book (which I think is great) or from the reviews, which are all helpful - just corrects a mistake about authorship.
