The Psychology of Selling is a superb, practical, easy-to-read return to the fundamentals of professional salesmanship for novices, journeymen and seasoned, top-performing sales people. More than common sense placed into form, it serves as an instructional blueprint -- or as a road map -- to establish, build, grow and maintain a successful sales career. Chapter-by-chapter, Brian Tracy leads the reader through a step-by-step process to grow from "good" to "great" in the highly competitive business of sales. I would recommend this excellent read to anyone and everyone who is engaged in what I consider to be a very high calling -- professional sales. It is an instructional, motivating, encouraging, challenging and memorable treatment of "Best Practices" for those who aspire to "greatness" among the ranks of the very best, most proficient sales leaders in business.

This guy is supposed to the master of sells psychology and while I did find some useful info, it was often time repetitive and really elementary. I don't consider myself a star salesperson with years of experience but I do pretty well considering I just started doing it 6 months ago. I was hoping to up my game and I'm not sure I have learned much more then I already knew.

Honest, fact based information presented in a logical, interesting manner, Brian covers the basics of sales and identifies the factors that may cause one to be less than successful. Following his major points will increase your sales and personal happiness. It has worked for me.

I am a technical guy - an engineer transitioning into sales type work. I purchase these books with lots of hesitation, as I like content and not motivational fluff. That said, this book is great. Brian Tracy offers hands-on tools to help you act according to self-image and goals. Yes, lots of this information has been heard before (i.e. increase your self image, focus on goals...etc) and many of the examples are very anecdotal ("this one guy did x and became y"). But that doesn't discount the authentic value and simplistic presentation of the approach.

Good book. There is a small mistake towards the end when the author references Immanuel Kant who was not Dutch but was actually German.
Apart from that, I enjoyed the confidence booster practices, learning about the Pareto Principle and the overall motivation techniques contained in this book.

Brian Tracy has captured the essence of what it takes to be a success. You have to work hard. You have to dedicate all your time to things that matter. You have to stay motivated to win. Anyone who wants to change their life and increase their earning potential needs to read this book.

I purchased this book for some tips to improve my direct sales business and motivate me to work harder. I highlighted a lot of passages to refer back to in the future. Many of the tips were refreshers from things I've already learned in our company training and several of the topics were repeated over and over. That's not necessarily a bad thing, because it drives the point that these are important rules for success. Did I learn several things that could help me succeed in my business? Yes. Did it motivate me to get out there and sell? Not really.

Amazing book!! Really has helped me double my sales. I wasn't taught on sales or trained just like Brian. But it helped me organize my life, my goals, etc. It taught me that literally everything counts, clothes, car, hair, grooming, confidence, etc. Also I did not know the 4 steps in a sale. Or how to find better clients. I'm planning to keep reading books on sales all my life

In comparison to many other sales books, this one seems poorly organized in the Kindle version. It did not seem to have a natural flow nor a clear direction with which it progressed. Brian Tracy did have some good tidbits of information, but nothing that seemed revolutionary. In all, this was a very mediocre read.

I love this book! It's succinct. It clearly explains exactly what to do without getting sidetracked on tons of examples. The advice I have found in this book has changed my life. It is rare that I find a book that I want to continue to take notes on every single day. I also like that the audio book has great sound quality and doesn't sound monotone or boring. It's quite enjoyable to listen to.

This book is VERY boring and it keeps repeating the same basic ideas over, and over, AND OVER AGAIN throughout the entire book (!!!) The whole useful information could have been summarized in 20 pages, the rest of the book is B.S..
This is full of elementary and common-sense info and the title is intentionally set to be misleading. If you're looking for a book about Sales, this is the wrong place to be.
I feel like I've been deceived in buying this title. It was waste of time and money. The only reason I didn't give this a one star, is that it still has a 20 pages worth of useful info in it. Other than that, it's a total waste of time.
Don't even expect to learn something sales-related here.

This is a quintessential sales book and should be required reading for anyone who desires to be successful in sales.
This was my first Brian Tracy experience and I have since purchased and read probably 10 other books by Tracy. They are all excellent.

Before reading this book, I was already a fairly successful Realtor, but along with that, i had an unorganized, unplanned business. After reading this book, it gave me great insight as to why people buy, why we as salespeople do what we do to make the sale & why planning and keeping track of your numbers is so important. It points out very obvious and logical reasons to every aspect to professional selling that I have noticed before but never really gave it though. I plan to giving this book to anyone I care about that is in the selling business or as a gift for business purposes. I believe anyone that reads this book and puts what they've learned into action, they WILL increase sales. This book actually does what it says; it increases your sales!

The author explains how to sell to people. The focus is to visualize the end results and set realistic goals. The importance of face-to-face contacts is enunciated in order to get people
involved in the transaction to refine needs and close the sale.
The author emphasizes the need to demonstrate the product so that
the customer can evaluate it. This book would be valuable to any
person embarking on a career or position in selling. There are practical examples, as well as a firm approach to get started
without the "analysis paralysis syndrome" .

A good book on developing your sales technique. Worth a read, but be warned that at least 50% of the content is 'old news' that you probably have already read in other sales books.
However, the OTHER 50% is worth reading, and will help you master the little nuances of the sales and closing interview.
A lot of emphasis on the 'behind-the-scenes' aspects of the science of selling - from where the title.

brian tracy's my hero. period. although note that if you actually have a *GOOD* product (like apple's ipod, or ibm's thinkpad) you're probably not gonna need all the numerous techniques to "GET" the sale. tracy's basically focused on how to get a "yes" out of people when they're really wanting to give a "no" (because you're product doesn't sell itself.) which of'course is important, but is more targetted towards the rougher side of sales: like car sales or telemarketting, or just plain influencing people.
