Buckle My Shoe (Poirot) (Hercule Poirot Series)

Just got done listening to One, Two, Buckle My Shoe by Agatha Christie. Even though I know the story it was so enjoyable to listen to this CD while I commute back and forth to work. I love her books on tape!

Agatha Christie is a wonderful and superb auther; The Poirot series are all very interesting and holds one's attention throughout. It is a change from the Miss Marple series which is also so wonderful to read.

The story takes place on an island where vacationers come to relax at a hotel and beautiful beach as well as explore mysterious coves. Characters are introduced and assembled together for what is supposed to be an enjoyable stay. Immediately an air of tension and evil settles on the group however, when the gorgeous actress Arlena Marshall arrives. Poirot is among the vacationers and as usual analyzes each member of the party. A murder soon occurs and leaves the group more anxious, which causes Poirot to be even more observant of each person's attitude and movements to determine the murderer. This book was so brilliantly written that I was truly captivated and could not "put it down". I appreciated the way the characters were described, which made each one easy to follow. And I loved the storyline. The surprises at the end were masterfully done as well as the wonderful, happy ending. This is a great read for any mystery fan and a definite one for anyone who enjoys Agatha Christie's works.

This is a great great book.. there are several pieces of puzzle which Poirot brings to the light in the second last chapter. I had guessed the first part but the second part was a total surprise. It does not involve a climax where Poirot gathers everyone in a room to reveal the answer but confronts the guilty and gives him choice to choose his punishment. A really good and interesting read and a treat for Agatha's fans.

Like all Agatha Christie stories, this is an incredibly well crafted book that leads you through a maze of potential suspects. The summation is carefully crafted. It leaves you wondering which of the persons in attendance is guilty. The answer was a surprise to me and I'm known for solving mysteries long before the denouement is reached. Enjoy yourself.
