Feist has left the impression with his last few books that he's wanted to end them for awhile. They've been less inspired, and really, just disappointing. If you can live with not knowing how things end, do so and pass on this book.

Sorry to read this last episode of the Magician. A great end to the series that I really enjoyed from the start and maybe from the ending another series will emerge. I look forward to more and more tales like this to carry on the tradition that Feist and others like him have created for us who like to escape to the world of fantasy.

This book captured everything that I fell in love with when I first read Magician: Apprentice and magnified it to epic proportions. This is the perfect send-off for some beloved characters (and it still manages a happy ending).
Magician (The Riftwar Saga, Book 1) :: A Kingdom Besieged: Book One of the Chaoswar Saga :: Silverthorn (Riftwar Cycle: The Riftwar Saga) :: A Crown Imperiled: Book Two of the Chaoswar Saga :: An Epic Saga of the World on the Other Side of the Riftwar (Riftwar Cycle

Ties up the whole series in one neat little bundle and the ending is just what you would expect, only you don't expect it, reading this one will make you a little sad knowing that the journey is over.

Too slow and is clear the author was just wanting to end the series with a little cash in his pocket. I have always enjoyed the series and the writing style and this was very disappointing. I wished now I had chosen another book that came out about the same time.

Magicians apprentice was the first I ever read that got me into reading. It's been along and at the end confusing road, I feel a little bit empty yet somewhat confused having just finished the last book. It was good yet I don't know what to really say, I feel as if there were so many twists and side stories. That I get the feeling towards the end of the series how actually to tie everything together and answer some of the plot twists from the previous books was hard to figure out. I don't know it just seemed like all these twists were brought into the series that up until the last book there was no real idea of how to complete the series.

Though, I really did enjoy this book from Feist (as I have all his other novels in this setting), it was really just the same thing over and over again. Big threat threatens midkemia and the Kingdom of the Isles, Pug and allies have to struggle against what it is and ultimately find out the conflict was caused by something else entirely, while the Kingdom deals with a threat on its own.

Knowing this was the last book was bittersweet. The author wrapped in some of the classic characters of the early books. The juxtaposition of the Kingdom war tale and the universe spanning Pug tale were in the same line as other books. I especially liked the Epilogue.

For me the whole series should have finished at a darkness at sethanon. Nothing since then has been any different. If anything the story telling and the characters have gotten worse. Pug was supposed to be a master magician but just comes off as soft and useless most of the time then always seems to suddenly know what to do at then end an pulls off a miraculous spell. Yawn

Loved it. The book did not disappoint, and the final chapter was interesting too. I hope he does a spin off of some kind or a new series altogether. If he sells out like Terry Goodkind did with that Not-Even-PBS-Worthy Series I'll salt his grave.

I really enjoyed this finale. It was well crafted with an excellent ending. A was a little trepidatous about what might happen to some favourite characters however Feist expertly weaved a story that made me feel good at the end. Well done and thanks for all the fantastic Midkemia books.

Excellent storytelling with important reminiscing to summarise older important events in past saga's. Good parallel storylines that come together in a well thought out climax. Looking forward to the next "new" beginning!

A definite improvement on the more recent books in the ongoing saga - there is more to think about here than in the last three or four books combined.
Probably deserves 4 1/2 stars (I disagree with the store's rating system - nothing gets 5 from me unless it is brilliant) and is an excellent way to wrap up the series.

Loved everything about it. The upsets, the surprises, the suspense, everything. Very happy with the way this turned out. Obviously if you read this far into the series, you are going to read this one.
