Oh, this is really good! Three long chapters with each being a separate story in itself yet they are connected and form a continuing plot. In the first chapter we meet Yato, the self-absorbed, rude yet entertaining lowly god who wishes to make himself the most adored god in the world. Two other characters are in this story but as to whether they will return it is unknown as the final two chapters bring in other characters which proceed with the plot. I absolutely love Hiyori, who keeps dropping her body, as she accidentally falls asleep and her spirit enters the in between world with Yato. The book has some battles and demons called ayakashi (like yokai), lots of humour and so far, great characters who are both entertaining and annoying at the same time. LOL. This was a lot of fun and a great first volume that had lots of story.

A wonderful volume which brings the entire current arc to a close. Lots of vicious battling and all the truths finally come out. I really didn't expect things to play out the way they did and I'm feeling all sad for one particular reason. This overshadows, for me, the happiness over how things wrapped up for the others. But I'm left wondering if we haven't seen the end of certain characters yet :-) Anyway, the volume ends with the beginning of a new school year starting and what looks like a fresh story to start in the next volume. Can't wait for the next book!

Ebisu's character evolves in this volume. Some of the Seven Gods want to punish him for what he's done while a few are on his side. Yato and Ebisu are trapped in Yomi, which I guess you can think of as an underworld sort of place. Lots of action and creepy stuff going on in there, plus action in the real world too. This is a great volume; the current arc is coming to a head and certain factions are now being formed but first we need to get the next volume to see who is safe.

This totally addictive manga blends the best qualities of the shonen and shoujo genres. It's character-driven, action-packed, and emotionally satisfying. Add careful world-building and beautiful, detailed artwork and you've got a comic that basically can't fail to please. It isn't chock full of surprises, but there's plenty of suspense and there's something fundamentally honest about a storyline that always delivers exactly what it promises. A sure-fire win.

I read the entire series online on mangapanda and other sites. I also watched both seasons that are currently out. I only bought the books because I want to support the mangaka, (I REALLY want them to make a 3rd season for the anime, they just reached the point in the manga where they have enough content for one more season, and I love the music and animation). The manga is (thankfully) still ongoing. I figure this one has potential to be a monster story, there's a lot of questions still hanging, but we'll see how far the mangaka is willing to take it without sacrificing quality. Hopefully very long. I'm not kidding when I say I am in love with this series. The story is extremely well written, and the art is just gorgeous. It's humorous, yet dark, with a little dash of romance to top it off. It's an amazing series and would recommend 100%.

I am absolutely enjoying this manga. The plot is pretty much the usual fare for this type of Shounen featuring gods and demons, but it has a certain maturity to it. All the characters that were established by the end of vol. 1 have returned. I love each of them but as I mentioned before Hiyori is my favourite. Yato is still trying to gain followers, but his past keeps catching up with him so we're learning more about him. Also, Yato is learning new things he'd never known or appreciated before about shinkis. So lots of information and character development here and one of those "duh-duh-DAH" endings. I'm truly looking forward to the next volume.

The anime is really great and i will start reading the manga from scratch since i hear the anime is different from the manga. If there isn't going to be a season two, i might as well read it. Highly recommended.

After Fullmetal Alcehmist ended I didn't think anything could fill it's niche. I'm not generally a big fan of shonen manga so I don't really seek it out unless I've heard marvelous things. However, I was recommend Noragami to pass the time while I waited for my silly romance manga to update. Well since then I've thrown my shojo manga to the curb because wow, I just fell in love with Noragami. I was dubious at the onset, the first chapter caught my interest enough to keep going, but I wasn't wild about it. However, after a few more chapters it became clear that even though chapter 1-3 aren't my favorites they were crucial to set up a fabulous story that I have come to love. Besides which, it's not as if the first chapters are bad, by no means, it's just that it gets even better. So much better that even though I am up-to-date with the most recent monthly updates I feel like it would be the right thing to do to purchase this manga and make sure the author/artist gets their due and that the manga continues to be supported and published in the United States.
So give Noragami a go, it's got everything going for it. Good art, good plot, three-dimensional characters and a good balance of humor and serious parts. Also, and importantly, if you have seen the anime please read the manga, and don't even try and compare it to the manga, because it could never compete.
