I love Clement C. Moore's 'The Night Before Christmas.' I have multiple copies with beautiful illustrations: -Golden book, hardback, board book, mini board book, pop up book, etc. I'll confess when I first saw this book I thought, "Good grief, MORE Frozen merchandise?!" What is this obsession?! I have the Frozen mozzarella sticks in my refrigerator, and my three year old has never even seen the movie, just sing-along clips on YouTube. But she loves Frozen, and I love her. Thankfully, I put my cynicism aside to pick up this book.
This book is darling! Jessica Julius did a fabulous job putting Olaf's stamp on this classic poem. She did not merely substitute words/names with Frozen themes or characters, but actually wrote phrases that you can imagine Olaf saying. Such as describing Santa coming down the chimney, "His boots were all black and his pants were all red, But where was the rest of him? Where was his head!" I was smiling as I read this book and even chuckled a bit.
The CD is a great extra. Frankly, I loved the book even without it, but my daughter especially liked hearing "the happy snowman" (as she calls him).
The cover has just the perfect amount of raised glitter to look pretty by the fire during a cozy evening reading. And the illustrations are lovely. They're simple and soft, but really invite you to look and linger over their shadows and depths.
I'm floored by how beautiful and pleasant this book is.
My ONLY complaint is that the reindeer Donder is called Donner. A common mistake, but something this literary nerd and Moore-lover does notice.

Everyone's favorite snowman is back! In Olaf's Night Before Christmas by Jessica Julius, the reader is once again reunited with lovable Olaf. The story begins just like the Christmas classic, but by page two there is a twist to the tale.
Santa is coming to Arendelle! Elsa and Anna are already fast asleep. Olaf is working hard on counting his sheep. Suddenly, a noise causes him to awaken quick. He cannot believe his icicle eye. It's jolly old St. Nick!
Will Olaf and Santa become the best of friends? You will have to read the story to see how it ends!
I absolutely love this book! Julius does an amazing job of changing a time honored Christmas story staple into a modern tale with a Frozen twist. I especially love that the story is told from Olaf's point of view. His innocence is reminiscent of my own childhood Christmas memories.
Olga T. Mosqueda's illustrations are whimsical and enchanting. I love that all of Santa's reindeer look like Sven! Additionally, I like how each main character from Frozen has his/her own stocking that is decorated to resemble his/her clothing (or appearance) from the movie.
This book will delight readers of all ages and makes the perfect Christmas gift. There is also a CD included in which Olaf himself reads the story. Children can follow along with Olaf and discover the magic of Santa and Christmas together.

Olaf is probably my favoritest secondary character in all of the Disney kingdom. He is just so cheerful!
This is a slightly altered version of The Night Before Christmas with Olaf telling the story and interjecting people of Arendelle, pondering why there are seven Svens flying in the air, why Kristoff suddenly gained a lot of weight, etc. Truly a hilarious little book that I personally feel can be read at any time, because, Olaf.
Enough said!
By the way, did you know he likes warm hugs?

Following the rhythm of the classic ‘Twas the Night, Olaf tells the story of how he met St. Nick when he visits the palace on Christmas Eve. The wording is so sweet and clever; whether your reading, listening, or gazing at the illustrations, it’s sure to put a smile on your face!

I thought my Frozen obsessed kids would love this audio book. We have several audio books and listen to them regularly. However it was clear from the first play that they were not enchanted- Olaf's voice is just too much! His "excitement" comes across as false and overstated. We like Olaf in the movie but this is one overly enthusiastic voice. It's over the top and frankly annoying to listen to. The book is high quality, nicely made with great illustrations.

First the good news, the cover has first rate feel and appearance. The pages are well illustrated, but on all four of the books I inspected the pages were unpleasantly rippled.
The main reason I bought the book was for the recording by Josh Gad, the voice of Olaf in the movie. Unfortunately, he just used almost entirely the same too-excited exclamatory voice without the sound of sincerity that I associate with Olaf. It could use some story-telling tone, a little calm, and occasional understatement. It just grated. Another problem with the audio was the disjointed aspect. Perhaps the producers were trying to give a moment to turn the page, but it just sounded like many separate recordings patched together with awkward, too-long interruptions. I was so tickled to order the book for myself and gifts, but disappointed in the reality.
