Love this author! I actually lived in Carabelle and Eastpoint and love this series of books! She describes things so vividly and I know exactly where she’s talking about. Love the characters and I’m always looking forward to next book!

As a resident of the East side of Franklin County, St. Teresa, I enjoy the adventures in my area. Looking forward to reading about St. Teresa or Summer Camp Beach or St. James Bay some time in the future.

Love the series, and am waiting for the next one. This one pushes the characters' lives forward while weaving those lives around a twisting mystery. Excellent read. I just wish I could start the next one immediately

Lake Morality: The Forgotten Coast Florida Suspense Series Book 8 is by Dawn Lee McKenna. This book takes place in Apalach, Florida on the Florida coast. Dawn’s descriptions of the setting are such that you feel you are really there or that you have gone back to your favorite small town along the Florida Panhandle. Her characters are quite realistic and the plot is very realistic as well.
Lt. Maggie Redmond is the first officer on the scene of a baby being left in a locked car at the Botanical Gardens. Although it is March, the temperature is up and she has no idea how hot it is inside the car nor how long the baby has been there or has been crying. Without a slimjim, she gets a rock and manages to break the front window in order to get the baby out of the car. She also finds the mother’s purse and keys locked in the car; but the mother is nowhere to be found.
What would cause a Mother to leave her baby in the car like this? She had been seen in the Gardens with her daughter and had all appearances of being a loving Mother. Where is she?
Maggie and her team have to track down the Mother and figure out what is going on. As usual, there are definite twists in the novel. It is another great read in the series

Ms. McKenna manages to breathe life, dimension and real humanity into her characters, not an easy thing to do . There are other writers out there( who shall remain unnamed) that write books set in the unique and beautiful state of Florida) who never even come close to weaving that "Florida spell " over their readers ,as Ms..McKenna does , you can smell the salty air and hear the rustling of the palm fronds on a breezy seaside day in these wonderful books. That's a BIG compliment coming from someone who has family roots in Tampa Bay dating from the early 1900's. Maggie ,Wyatt and all the cast of characters in this series have become real to me, and I found myself wiping away a tear more than once while reading this latest book. Life is always a challenge for this feisty little Sherriff and Maggie rises to the challenge (every time) just as I suspect Ms. McKenna has done in her own life ( the Authoress has FIVE children and has recently triumphed over cancer May G_d bless and keep her well) Intrigue, suspense, harrowing brushes with evil characters, this book has it ALL! Come along with Maggie as she once again test the limits of her crime-solving skills . This is my second sleepless night ( Ha-Ha) -I finished the book 15 minutes ago (5:30 am ) I JUST COULD'NT PUT IT DOWN! Was the lack of sleep worth it ? Heck Yeah, BIG TIME. I love John Steinbeck, Jane Austen, Earnest Hemingway, Charles Dickens, and DAWN LEE MCKENNA! Oh yeah Wayne Stinnett isn't half bad either.

I binged on this entire series and managed to read all eight books in a couple of days (love being retired and so glad these were Kindle Unlimited!) This was a new author for me and I liked everything about the books... the characters, the storyline, the setting... it just all worked. Not surprisingly, I highly recommend the Forgotten Coast Florida series. I also read the first two books on the spin off of this series, Dead Reckoning and Dead Center and while I liked them, I still enjoyed the Forgotten Coast series more.

Wow!! What a great read! I really like this series: quirky detailed characters--right down to a rooster named Stoopid. A plot that keeps you guessing and a setting in the rural spaces of the South, on the Gulf of Mexico.
A baby is found abandoned in a hot car, windows rolled up and doors locked. The mother is later found dead, drowned, at Lake Morality. This story is sad but truthful as it looks at some of today's families. Hope you enjoy!

Finally, we’re back in Apalachicola with our favorites, Maggie, Wyatt, Boudreaux, Miss Evangeline and of course Stoopid, our favorite rooster.

Wrapping a mystery, an abandoned baby, a missing mother, and a murder into the culmination of the happiest ever we’ve all been waiting for, could only be accomplished by this master storyteller, Dawn Lee McKenna. Well played, Ms. McKenna!

I know I can’t wait for the next in this series.

All the books in this series were well written with plenty of action, suspense, morality and building of characters. I would recommend this author to my daughters. You do not hAve to hAve descriptive sexual scenes in books to make them good reads.

This author just has a way with mysteries. She writes a perfect story every time. These characters are real and vibrant and you feel like you know them. The mysteries are always different and new and intriguing. The humor is just right and spot on.

These books are character driven. The characters are so clearly drawn you feel that you truly know each one personally. You care about them. Action, mystery, humor and family...a wonderful blend handled by an author who writes with great skill and compassion. Read one of Ms. McKenna's books and you will read them all.
One negative...they end. You then have to wait for the next one. Don''t wait, start now! You will be glad you did.

Love this series. Enjoyed all the books. Ms. Mckenna writes in a way that makes you hear the palmetto bushes rustling in the wind and feel the heat and humidity that is Florida in the summer time. Story lines are enjoyable with language that doesn't make me cringe or wish someone would wash the characters' mouths out with soap.
